[Bug 1909589] Re: No se ha podido calcular la actualización

2021-06-01 Thread Juan Manuel Carrillo Campos
Ok, this is going in a weird direction.
I had (in 2020) an equal issue with a device going from 18.04 to 20.04. I left
that behind doing a clean 20.04 install.
Now with another device I am not able to do a clean install (I am not able to
backup the stuff in this device) then I will like to fix the same kind of issue.
The result of the command attached is from "this device" trying to go from
Ubuntu 14.04 to 16.01 as the first step to finally came to 20.04.

[Bug 1907870] Re: Intel UHD Graphics: external monitor detected but black screen (has a preferred mode but no current mode set)

2020-12-28 Thread Juan Manuel Diaz
Hi! I have updates on this: ¡IT WAS A CABLE PROBLEM!

Same cable and same monitor that works OK with my HP OMEN 15 doesn't
work with my HP 440 G7... I tried with a different cable (a shorter one)
and everything looks normal.

Please, mark this as closed.

Thanks everyone for the help,

HAPPY 2021.

** Description changed:

Hi! I have an HP ProBook 440 G7 with i7-10510U and INTEL UHD GRAPHICS.

  The problem:

When i connect to my external monitor (a Samsung BX2250) via HDMI, the
screen is detected (i can see it in display settings) but the external
monitor remains black. Seams like a bad frequency or resolution. I tried
adding a new mode to xrandr with no luck. Also i tried different
versions of kernels from 5.4 to 5.9.

  I am using Ubuntu 20.10

[Bug 1800723] Re: Missing package python3.7-pip

2019-05-14 Thread Juan Manuel Formoso
I arrived here researching this exact issue, in my case I'd really need
not to install python 3.6 since it interferes with other dependencies
and makes a docker image larger.

[Bug 1775065] Re: No brightness controls and /sys/class/backlight empty after upgrade to Bionic on laptop with GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile (kernel parameter acpi_osi= is a workaround)

2018-10-12 Thread Juan Manuel Diaz
Hi! I have an Omen by HP 15-ce004la with NVIDIA GTX1060 Q-MAX and the
bug is still present.

This is my setup:

Ubuntu 18.04 with kernel 4.18.13-041813-generic

I'am getting acpi errors like this one below in boot time too:

[0.104082] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating
[\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.GPLD], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20180531/dswload2-316)

My /sys/class/backlight folder is empty, but xbacklight works.

I am using latest Nvidia propietary driver.

Regards and hope you can solve this soon.

JM

[Bug 1772539] [NEW] Upgrade ubuntu 14.04 to 16.04

2018-05-21 Thread Juan Manuel Carrillo Campos
Public bug reported:

When the "full upgrade of the distribution"(Actualizacion completa de la
distribucion) window came to the second step "configuring new channels of
software"(configurando nuevos canales de software), one of the steps shows the
message "calculating the changes" (calculando los cambios), it shows a new
window with a message "it has nor been able to calculate the update"(No ha sido
posible calcular la actualizacion) with just the option "close"(cerrar) and the
process stops after "restoring the original status of the system" step.
(in the "configuration" options, in the "Other software" section, nothing is
selected)
how may I debug and fix this situation?

[Bug 1322864] [NEW] Sometimes the app search doesn't work in the Dash

2014-05-24 Thread Juan Manuel
Public bug reported:

Sometimes I open the Dash by using the Super key or by clicking in the Dash
icon; when I search for an app the Dash just shows files and folders.
It is really annoying because I need to log out to solve it.

I'm using the stock Unity Packages in Ubuntu 14.04.

I don't know how to reproduce it. It happens once in a while but I can't
seem to find out why.

[Bug 1322860] [NEW] Sometimes the app search doesn't work in the dash

2014-05-24 Thread Juan Manuel
Public bug reported:

Sometimes I can't find applications by searching in the dash, only files and
folders.
It is really annoying because I need to log out to solve it.

I'm using the stock Unity Packages in Ubuntu 14.04.

I don't know how to reproduce it. It happens once in a while but I can't
seem to find out why.

[Bug 1295291] [NEW] When moving a window between workspaces, the window shakes and vertical and horizontal thin lines appears for an instant. The transition is not smooth.

2014-03-20 Thread Juan Manuel
Public bug reported:

When I use Unity, every time I move a window from one workspace to
another using the keyboard bindings (SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+ arrow keys), the
transition animation shows tiny vertical and horizontal lines and the
window shakes a little bit, i.e., the transition is not smooth and
doesn't look good.

I'm using the stock Unity Packages in Ubuntu 13.10.

To reproduce:
* Load an application
* Change that application window from one workspace to another using the
keyboard bindings (SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+ arrow keys)
* You should see the lack of smoothness in the transition animation.

[Bug 764476] [NEW] Toshiba Qosmio F60-159 no internal speakers audio

2011-04-18 Thread Juan Manuel
Public bug reported:

Hello.

I have a Toshiba Qosmio F60-159 with Realtek Audio, or I think so,
because in Windows it says is a Realtek and under Linux I think it says
that is Intel... The problem is that internal speakers don't work in
Linux, in Windows I have no problem. I only can use headphones.

I have the same problem. The micro works only sometimes, like randomly. The few
times it works , it is only for some minutes and then it is gone without any
reason.

[Bug 642076] Re: Ubuntu 10-10 and 10-04 Ati Radeon 5870 3DClub fail

2010-09-22 Thread Juan Manuel

Right now, in 10.04 Ubuntu everything works fine, but I do not know if it is
still working to preserve some adjustment to my previous graphics card, or
because the bug has been fixed. Before if I installed Ubuntu 10.04 with the
5870 graphics card, the system worked, but can not use desktop effects, and the
fan was still very fast.

My Ubuntu 10.10beta was installed with the ATI 5870 graphics and effects
are not activated, and the graphics card fan also remains very fast.
