[Bug 1710993] Re: PulseAudio requirement breaks Firefox on ALSA-only systems after 55.0.1 update
Just to add my 2 cents, I'm still suprise that Firefox package doesn't add a depend on pulseaudio with this version. By adding pulseaudio to the seed, we make the impression that we want pulseaudio on Lubuntu for Xenial. We don't. We need to add it because Firefox is broken without it. However, adjusting the seed is probably the quicker way to fix this critical issue, on a stable release, so let's go with this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1710993 Title: PulseAudio requirement breaks Firefox on ALSA-only systems after 55.0.1 update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-meta/+bug/1710993/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1690491] Re: Merge 0.11.1-2 from Debian Sid
The diff was introduced to be able to use lxqt-session with others settings that the ones provided by lxqt-common. At this time, lxqt was only capable to read settings from 1 path (the one provided by lxqt- common). So, it was impossible to have both lxqt-common and lubuntu- default-settings. However, the ability to read settings on custom path was merged in Qt (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/lubuntu-next/+bug/1387237 for details), and lubuntu-default-settings was modified to store lxqt settings on a custom path. So, it should work, out-of-the-box, without this diff (if Qt is up-to-date). IMO, the diff can me dropped, and the package sync. At least, upstream and pristine version of lxqt should work, as expected by upstream (it may need a bit of tweaking for Lubuntu Qt version to work as expected). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1690491 Title: Merge 0.11.1-2 from Debian Sid To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxqt-session/+bug/1690491/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

1) 14_more_openbox_keybindings.patch : Since multimedia keys can be configured on lxpanel, it's better to remove those entries, so 1 thing is not configured at 2 different places. The other entries can also be dropped if there are the only ones left on the diff (no need to diverge from Debian for this). 2) It's was an old attempt to fix a bug for SSH on Lubuntu, but it's probably not the correct fix. Thanks, the diff looks OK, except for 2 things : It needs libqtxdg 2.0, so it needs to be sync before liblxqt (See https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libqtxdg) There is 2 missings symbols between the 2 versions (see the diff) : - (c++)"LXQt::PageSelectWidget::sizeHint() const@Base" 0.9.0+20150911 - (c++)"LXQt::ScreenSaver::xdgProcess_finished(int, QProcess::ExitStatus)@Base" 0.9.0+20150911 Usually, that needs a soname bump, but upstream didn't do it, and Debian didn't force it either. There is other logout utilities that work with lxsession. I have no strong opinion about adding lxsession-logout in the recommends field of lxsession. That make sense, but it doesn't fix the "problem" for people who will remove the package and try to log out by clicking on the lxpanel shortcut. [Bug 1600519] Re: Add the lxqt-abi package and merge from Debian
This merge probably need more discussions. I'll add some background on this: LXQt upstream handle soname changes very badly in the past (see https://github.com/lxde/lxqt/issues/821). To adapt this, Debian choose to introduce an abi package, a virtual package to work like a soname package. Personally, I think it's the wrong answer to the problem. IMO, we should patch upstream to set the correct soname name, or adapt the library binary (like a liblxqt0a or liblxqt1 ...). I don't think using a virtual package is a good answer, because Debian library system can handle this natively. Also, if we want to use this solution, we also need to move non .so files out the liblxqt0 binary (for soname transition). That's the reason of the creation of the liblxqt-data binary. Unfortunately, I failed to convince Debian maintainers about this. However, this is an important divergence with Debian. If we introduce this, we will have to carry this diff probably forever, and I'm also not a fan of adding extra work for this (especially because I'll probably lack time to maintain it properly). So, for this case, we have 2 choices: - Diverge from Debian, but the merge needs to be modify to include the changes above, and that will need extra work on Ubuntu side for the future - Follow Debian, and in this case we can probably sync liblxqt directly from Debian and drop the diff. I'm fine with both options, if we are all aware of the consequences :-) (I'll also be happy to have an opinion on my change proposal, maybe others ubuntu devs will find it not necessary, so the choice will be easier :-)). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1600519 Title: Add the lxqt-abi package and merge from Debian To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/liblxqt/+bug/1600519/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

That's problematic for Lubuntu to ship both toolkit at the same time (space on the ISO), and it's probably not so nice for people who want to keep their system slim. ** Affects: audacious (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: audacious (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #820472 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=820472 ** Also affects: audacious (Debian) via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=820472 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1600318 Title: Adudacious depends on both GTK and Qt To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/audacious/+bug/1600318/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1575460] Re: Intel video driver not installed by default on Lubuntu 16.04 fresh install
** Description changed: + [Impact] + + * xserver-xorg-video-intel is not included in Lubuntu ISO because it + switched to recommends on the common seeds. Since Lubuntu ISO doesn't + include recommends, so xserver-xorg-video-intel is missing (but included + on other flavors). + + * xserver-xorg-video-intel is not mandatory for Intel users, but it + needs a recent hardware to work correctly. According to the packages + description : + + "The use of this driver is discouraged if your hw is new enough (ca. 2007 + and newer). You can try uninstalling this driver and let the server use + it's builtin modesetting driver instead." + + * However, Lubuntu targets old hardwares, and there are a lot of + reports from Intel users that, without this drivers, X doesn't load. + + [Test Case] + + * Install Lubuntu 16.04 with an official 16.04 ISO, on a system with an Intel graphic device. + * Boot on the installed system, and the boot process should stop before X is loading. + * To confirm the fix, install manually xserver-xorg-video-intel and boot again. + + [Regression Potential] + + * Stick with the old driver may have an impact on the performances of + the driver (the new one should be better for 3D and others graphic + stuff). + + * However, others flavors kept this driver on the ISO, and according to + the reports, it's probably safe to keep this driver for now. + + [Original report] + I did a new installation of Lubuntu 16.04 LTS on a intel atom netbook installation completes with any problem. On booting the installed system i only got a black screen with the message: "/dev/sda1: clean, 121563/920272 files" I've changed to a terminal (CTRL+ALT+F1), and reading logs i've found xserver-xorg-video-intel package is NOT INSTALLED installed the xserver-xorg-video-intel package, and everything works ok now. [Bug 1550896] Re: Move GConf depends to a seperate binary
Thanks for the answer. Here is my comments for the different solutions : - New dh_gconf : it's seem a bit overkill, especially if pidgin is the only one to use it. And I don't know dh enough to make this change in the near future :-) - hack on debian/rules : probably a good idea, but I don't think I can make it clean with cdbs - don't use misc:Depends : yes, it feels wrong. If something else use this feature in the future, it will not be obvious to re-enable it in the package (most of packages have misc:Depends). - Considering it's seems broken, and used for a very limited use cases, I think it's safe to just remove it. I attached the updated debdiff. ** Patch added: "pidgin_2.10.12-0ubuntu3.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+bug/1550896/+attachment/4587016/+files/pidgin_2.10.12-0ubuntu3.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1550896 Title: Move GConf depends to a seperate binary To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+bug/1550896/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1550896] [NEW] Move GConf depends to a seperate binary
Public bug reported: Currently, gconf on pidgin is only used to retrieve proxy settings from GNOME. It puts an hard depends on gconf, even if pidgin is used on a non-gnome environment. Also, it seems that this feature may be broken (see LP #878032 and https://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/13867). I also ask for people to help in the testing, to validate the SRU. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1301274 Title: SSL validation problem (or sync Sylpheed from Debian sid) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sylpheed/+bug/1301274/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
