I also experienced it in Xubuntu Jaunty. It is independent of the system style or whether files are colourised based on LS_COLORS. [Bug 383632] Re: AHCI Hard Drive constantly erroring
I'm experiencing a similar problem on completely different hardware.
It's an Intel-based ASUS notebook with PATA drives. The error occurs
repeatedly unless there is a disk in the DVD drive.
