[Bug 744619] Re: Screen doesn't unlock; stuck on "Checking"
Best way I have found to switch back to your user it to use the "Switch User" button in gnome-screensaver, and use GDM to get back in. If you prefer terminal, "killall gnome-screensaver" is much faster than finding the PID of the process and killing that. I just got fed up enough to quit using it altogether, I log out now instead. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/744619 Title: Screen doesn't unlock; stuck on "Checking" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/744619/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 811294] [NEW] gnome-screensaver freezes on checking
Public bug reported: When attempting to unlock the gnome-screensaver, the system will lock on "checking" and I must switch to a virtual terminal and kill gnome- screensaver to reach my desktop. I have tried with multiple screen savers. It is also possible to use the "switch users" feature and use GDM to get back to the desktop. [Bug 786776] [NEW] USB disk writes cause IOWait, freeze system
Public bug reported: When attempting to write files to most USB drives, the system will bog down to 100% CPU on IOWait and about 12-18 system load. The larger the file, the worse the condition. Copying a 4.6GB disk image locks the system up for over 45 minutes to complete its task. This is on a 3.0GHz hyperthreaded I7. Ubuntu 10.10 The system should be able to handle this activity with minimal load and IOWait, and should never effect system performance. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/786776 Title: USB disk writes cause IOWait, freeze system -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 461710] [NEW] Panel fails to load fast user switch applet
Public bug reported: I recently upgraded to 9.10RC (KOALA) through update-manager -d. Upon re-booting, I get the following error: The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_FastUserSwitchApplet". This happens on every logon. Also, (may be un-related) I also see a strange boot-screen at boot that looks more like a monitor diagnostic screen than a boot splash instead of the nice boot screen that Ubuntu is supposed to come with as well as the logon screen is an ugly plain tan color with ugly, plain icons instead of the nice, gradiated dark brown color it should be. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Panel fails to load fast user switch applet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461710 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
