[Bug 738586] [NEW] USB 3.0 ports stopped working with 2.6.35-28-generic

2011-03-20 Thread Kaini
Public bug reported:

The two USB 3.0 ports stopped working with the most recent stable
kernel update (2.6.35-28-generic; I had 2.6.35-27-generic before).
Devices I plug in get power but are not recognized by the system. The
USB port is missing in lsusb too.

If I boot the old kernel the ports work.

I have attached the output of uname, lspci, lsusb and dmesg for each,
the new and the old, kernel version.

[Bug 712983] [NEW] linux-firmware-nonfree misses af9005 firmware

2011-02-04 Thread Kaini
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-firmware-nonfree

The linux-firmware-nonfree package is suggested if I plug in my Terratec
Cinergy T USB XE (Rev 1) DVB-Stick, but the installed package does not
contain the required firmware (af9005.fw).

Manually grabbing the firmware from http://ventoso.org/luca/af9005/ and copying
it into the firmware folder fixes this issue:
$ wget http://ventoso.org/luca/af9005/af9005.fw
$ sudo cp af9005.fw /lib/firmware

[Bug 662076] Re: Wrong keyboard layout when specifying partitions manually

2010-12-28 Thread Kaini
This bug is still present in the Natty Alpha 1 installer.

If a non-English language (German) is chosen in the welcome screen, the
keyboard layout during the Specify Partitions Manually window remains
English. This is very annoying because users have to find the
/-character on the English keyboard.

I think there are two solutions: After selecting a language in the
welcome screen set a sensible default keyboard layout for that language
or ask the user before the partitioning for his keyboard settings.
