[Bug 1804673] Re: gnutls causes gnome-music segmentation fault
I think to trigger the bug (using gnome-music) you need a music collection where it needs to try and look up at least some album artwork. If you have an empty music library gnome-music will start fine because the gnutls code is never invoked. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1804673 Title: gnutls causes gnome-music segmentation fault To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-music/+bug/1804673/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1807744] Re: Print to File writes to incorrect file
Right - I have managed to force over my libreoffice to using ps (uncheck the 'PDF as standard print job format' option, click Okay, and let lo restart). When in 'PS' mode, you are correct that the bug as I have described does not manifest. I conclude that it only manifests when in 'PDF' mode. However, even in 'PS' mode you can see a strain of the bug. Ensure you have in your directory a 'sample.ps' file (can be empty). Follow through steps 1 to 6d (changing pdf to ps). Then click on 'Any Type' and change to 'PostScript'. On my system I then observe that my edited filename in the name type-in field has been changed, and another ps file (probably sample.ps) has been selected in the chooser. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1807744 Title: Print to File writes to incorrect file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1807744/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1807744] Re: Print to File writes to incorrect file
Hmmm - somewhat curious that your setup is locked into ps and mine is pdf with no apparent way of switching. But in step 6-c it is important to click on a file name in the chooser, and then edit it in the type in field. The bug doesn't manifest if you just edit the name type in field to the desired file name.
Okay - your print defaults are to 'print to ps' rather than 'print to pdf'. So to recreate the steps you can either: a) Go to Tools -> Options -> Print -> and enable 'PDF as standard print job format, then re-run the steps OR b) wherever in my steps I say 'pdf' or filename.pdf, change to 'ps' and filename.ps -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1807744 Title: Print to File writes to incorrect file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1807744/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1807744] Re: Print to File writes to incorrect file
>I think the bug happens when the dialogue self-flips the type selector to 'Portable Document Format'. Yep ... if I manually flip the type selector to 'Portable Document Format' it loses my desired file name and pseudo-randomly selects a pdf file from the list of files in the folder. So there are actually 2 incorrect behaviours going on: 1) changing type selector to 'Portable Document Format' should not change the file name in the 'name' field IF the user has already made some edits in that field (i.e. has taken the trouble to choose a name) 2) pressing Enter (or Save button) should not trigger the type selector to change -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1807744 Title: Print to File writes to incorrect file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1807744/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1807744] Re: Print to File writes to incorrect file
This screenshot manages to show the problem. Here I have typed in the 'Name' field 'test_2.pdf' when I already have that filename in my folder (as well as the dummy sample.pdf). I then press Enter, expecting to get the confirmation dialogue box asking about overwriting the file. The confirmation box appears, but look at it carefully compared to what the FileChooser GTK3 widget is now showing behind it: the confirmation box shows name 'test_2.pdf' (which is what I typed), and the GTK3 widget not shows 'sample.pdf' (and also has changed the type selector to 'Portable Document Format'. Pressing 'okay' results in 'sample.pdf' being overwritten. I think the bug happens when the dialogue self-flips the type selector to 'Portable Document Format'. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2018-12-10 17-08-18.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1807744/+attachment/5220930/+files/Screenshot%20from%202018-12-10%2017-08-18.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1807744 Title: Print to File writes to incorrect file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1807744/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1807744] [NEW] Print to File writes to incorrect file
Public bug reported: This bug only occurs when using the GTK3 dialogues (libreoffice-gtk3 installed). Under certain conditions print to file over-writes an existing pdf file in the chosen folder which doesn't match the name chosen by the user (and without any warning or confirmation dialog). Steps to reproduce are: 1) Create an empty directory (folder) 2) Put in directory a dummy pdf (e.g. touch sample.pdf) 3) Open libreoffice and create a writer document with a few words 4) Save the libreoffice document to the directory as a regular writer doc (e.g. 'test.odt') 5) Do 'File -> Print' and choose 'Print to File' 6) In the (gtk3) File-chooser dialog: 6a) navigate to the folder created in step 2 6b) select 'Any Type' in the 'types of file shown' selector 6c) click on the file name 'test.odt' 6d) in the 'Name' text field, then edit the name from 'test.odt' to 'test_2.pdf' 6e) then press 'Enter' (or click on 'Select') 7) Observe that in the folder there is no file 'test_2.pdf'. However the dummy file 'sample.pdf' has been over-written and contains the pdf that resulted from the 'print to file' operation -->What should of happened is that the file 'test_2.pdf' should have been created as a pdf of the writer document. -- Some notes: - Occurs in Libreoffice 6.1.2.1 (Build ID: 1:6.1.2-0ubuntu1.1) and older versions - Only occurs using the gtk3 file browser. Native libreoffice is okay (not tested old gtk2 code) - Only occurs if you first click on 'Any Type'. If you simply type a file name without first going to 'Any Type' it doesn't manifest the bug - Only occurs if the file name you type has the '.pdf' extension. Here is a snippet of kern.log after a resume, with printk added to hidp_session() and hidp_get_raw_report(). [Bug 1075478] Re: bluetooth keyboards and mice not working after suspend/resume
This bug is because of kernel upstream bug https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52471 All the info is in that bug report, including 2 patches to fix it. In short form, the (doomed to fail by timeout) battery status reporting injects a 5 second delay in keyboard device removal. Due to races in the kernel bluetooth code, this leads the code to remove devices from sysfs in the wrong order. This in turn leads to udev events being sent out with truncated device paths. This in turn causes Xorg evdev to receive the 'remove' events, but ignore them because they cannot match them up. When the keyboard re-connects, Xorg then sees the 'add' events matching a keyboard it thinks it already has, so ignores them ... so your keyboard doesn't work (or mouse too, if bluetooth as well!). IMHO This is NOT a problem in Xorg - it is a kernel issue leading to faulty udev events. Note the Google Chrome people patched their Xorg to work around the issue ... but the real fix should be in the kernel. ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #52471 http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52471 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1075478 Title: bluetooth keyboards and mice not working after suspend/resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evdev/+bug/1075478/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 748539] Re: Multi-monitor - Panel and launcher visible on top of multimonitor non-focused fullscreen apps
While I would still like to see this fixed, I have found a workaround (that at least works in 12.10): - In compizconfig-settings, enable the 'Extra WM Actions' plugin - in the options for this plugin, enable a bindkey for the 'Toggle always on top' option (I chose ctrl-F9) Now you can open the application and its fullscreen window. With the fullscreen window focussed, press the chosen bindkey. Now you can focus another window or app on the other monitor, and the fullscreen window will stay on top on its monitor. I've tested this for both libreoffice-impress presentation fullscreen window, and totem in fullscreen mode. Note that other windows showing on the same monitor as the fullscreen window will NOT now show, even if you focus them (e.g. using an Alt-Tab sequence). This is to be expected, as the fullscreen window is now marked as always on top. However if you arrange for the other window to also have the always-on-top attribute, then you can then use Alt-Tab to flip between them. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/748539 Title: Multi-monitor - Panel and launcher visible on top of multimonitor non- focused fullscreen apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/748539/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 748539] Re: Multi-monitor - Panel and launcher visible on top of multimonitor non-focused fullscreen apps
Echoing #15, the multi-monitor spec has(had) a concept of 'projection mode', i.e. where the 2nd monitor was known to be used for projection and thus special conditions would be useful. I have long thought that one of the special conditions of a 'projection mode' would be to not have the unity top panel displaying on the projector - because you really only want fullscreen apps (as #15 says). Unfortunately I couldn't find a way of commenting on the spec document as an ordinary member of public - so my thoughts have been confined to comments in bug reports (e.g. see comment #2 of https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/907464) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/748539 Title: Multi-monitor - Panel and launcher visible on top of multimonitor non- focused fullscreen apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/748539/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 646724] Re: not all files show up in files-place
Jakob There is a trade-off between 'locate' and 'tracker'. locate: + will actually find more files than other solutions, including files not in your home directory (and not owned by you) - Issue with encrypted home directory (?) - relies on a daemon which by default runs just once a day (though you could tweak this up yourself if needed) - searching can be slower tracker: - will only find files in directories that it watches (a subset of places) - some worry about the background performance penalty running tracker imposes ++ can search on both filenames, their metadata content, and their real text content Its that last ++ that is so attractive to me. I did actually get the prototype tracker lens of #71 compiled and running in 12.04 (does need mods to work with latest Unity API) and it works reasonably well. Unfortunately I don't have the time myself to get it properly working and release worthy, but if someone could be persuaded to at least polish the current code it could then be installed along with Tracker for users who want it. The next step would then be to write a combo tracker/zeitgeist lens that combines the search power of tracker with the relevancy of zeitgeist. Such a beast should be possible, and for those users who like to install Tracker would give them a top class search on their tracker-indexed directories. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/646724 Title: not all files show up in files-place To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/646724/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 947392] [NEW] tracker misses indexing files because of bug in tracker-extract
Public bug reported: See upstream bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=671314 and discussion starting at http://mail.gnome.org/archives/tracker- list/2012-March/msg3.html The net effect is for tracker to not index a file's contents if tracker-extract process is not running at the time - thus many files will get missed. The bug is fixed upstream, but of course in a newer release (hopefully out soon). Even if 0.14 makes it out say this week, will it now be accepted into Precise? If not, can we cherry pick the fix into the Ubuntu build of 0.12 so that Tracker in Precise is not crippled by this bug? ** Affects: tracker (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/947392 Title: tracker misses indexing files because of bug in tracker-extract To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tracker/+bug/947392/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 646724] Re: not all files show up in files-place
Hacked a bit more ... The 'crawler' code in a-l-m has a bug comparing a timestamp in the form of a string with another in the form of a float. Thats why it always inserts 0 events (timestamp test always fails). It also has a potential divide by zero bug if there are zero 'valid_uris'. Correcting those will make it insert events based on the files mtime. However they still don't show up in gaj or dash. Watching the zeitgeist-daemon running in a terminal one can see the events being inserted, but still no sign of them showing up in any queries.
[Bug 646724] Re: not all files show up in files-place
Re #53, I have compiled from source the a-l-m and tried the 'retrieve from past' feature. Unfortunately no matter what I do it says '0 events inserted', and no extra files then seem to be visible. I then tried the 'history.py' script that Seif kindly referenced on a blog post of his a while back, which has the same basic crawler code but packaged to be run on a directory of the users choice from the command line. This does insert a number of events (almost as many events as there are files in the directory concerned) - but then nothing can seem to be able to find them: neither Unity Dash of gaj display them. So although there is now crawler code out there in the wild, it doesn't seem to be helping for some reason.

It is now fixed in the 2.6.38.7 upstream stable release also - so will be trickly into the stock Natty kernel in the not too distant future. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/763227 Title: archos 3 will not mount -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 763227] Re: archos 3 will not mount
Bug is logged upstream as https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35042 It has a simple fix already in 2.6.39- kernels, though a better fix is in the works. I don't know if there will be plans to propose a fix for an upcoming 2.6.38.stable. ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #35042 http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35042 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/763227 Title: archos 3 will not mount -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 646724] Re: not all files show up in files-place
Wrt to comment #23, I remember over a year ago in blog-posts or wherever some communication between Seif of Zeitgeist fame and the Tracker people about integration/linking together. There was talk of one of them pushing events to the other. Certainly if Tracker pushed an event to Zeitgeist everytime it 'discovered' a new file, that would certainly help Zeitgeist to be aware of alot more of the user's filesystem. If the user is using Tracker, then resource-wise the user would be no worse off, since Tracker is already doing the crawling & monitoring anyway. However, of course Tracker itself is configured by the user to NOT crawl their whole filesystem, so for some users it is arguably still incomplete (though it would be good enough for my own uses). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/646724 Title: not all files show up in files-place -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 776535] [NEW] virtualbox udev rules should use RUN+= rather than RUN=
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: virtualbox-ose The udev rules shipped by virtualbox-ose apply a RUN script on usb interfaces and devices. However the rules specify RUN= rather than RUN+= so all other scripts added by previous rules get usurped. This means things like my scanner (which relies on a script added by the sane udev rules) doesn't work. The solution is to simply replace all RUN= with RUN+= in the udev rules - the rules should add the script, now set this script only. ** Affects: virtualbox-ose (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776535 Title: virtualbox udev rules should use RUN+= rather than RUN= -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 646724] Re: not all files show up in files-place
I still find comments #10, #11, and #15 sum up the situ well - if 'the main way users are expected to search' is purely zeitgeist powered, and zeitgeist only ever relies on data-providers, then those searches are going to fall short of users expectations. So one way or another the user needs access to a directory-crawler, either: - one which populates the zeitgeist log, or - the dash/lenses consulting zeitgeist PLUS some other source (tracker, customer updatedb, or custom-something-else) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/646724 Title: not all files show up in files-place -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
