[Bug 1024475] Re: libnss-ldap causes boot hang on 12.04 precise, 14.04 trusty

2016-06-17 Thread Karlheinz Salver
for me , the solution #16
and the replacement of libnss_ldap.so.2 from package libnss-ldapd
worked fine. my machine reboots!

The package libnss-ldap is old and contains
 the symlink libnss_ldap.so.2 -to-> libnss_ldap-2.15.so ( /lib/i386-linux-gnu/ )
libnss_ldap-2.15.so is dated of 2012-07-18

The package libnss-ldapd is newer and contains
libnss_ldap.so.2 ( /lib/i386-linux-gnu/ ) ;no symlink
 libnss_ldap.so.2 is dated of 2014-07-29

i think it is recommended to install libnss-ldapd
 immediately after the metapackage ldap-auth-client
.

[Bug 1593073] [NEW] ubuntu hangs on boot after installing ldap-auth-client

2016-06-15 Thread Karlheinz Salver
Public bug reported:

on my 14.04.4 after installing the metapackage ldap-auth-client
i detected the problem because the metapackage
includes libnss-ldap (auth-client-config, ldap-auth-config, libnss-ldap and
libpam-ldap)

==> the system hangs when booting
--> see also Bug #1024475 ,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libnss-ldap/+bug/1024475

I will try to install libnss-ldapd

The package libnss-ldap is old and contains
 the symlink libnss_ldap.so.2 -to-> libnss_ldap-2.15.so ( /lib/i386-linux-gnu/ )
libnss_ldap-2.15.so is dated of 2012-07-18

[Bug 1268097] Re: [System settings] Can't set user-supplied ring tone

2015-11-03 Thread Karlheinz Salver
i solved temporarily this problem with "sudo mount -o remount,rw /" and
copying my ringtones to "/usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/ringtones/" via "sudo
cp myringtone.ogg ..."

he final solution, (i hope) will be the possibility to set individual
ringtones in contacts. maybe in release 16.04.

[Bug 1499237] [NEW] Sound on ubuntu phone phablet seems too low

2015-09-24 Thread Karlheinz Salver
Public bug reported:

my ringtone was suddenly too low on BQ Aquaris 4.5 . Also the Sound of a
car-navigation software, p.ex. OSSCOUT (sounds are mp3 or ogg).
even when turning the Sound to max withe the buttons outside the screen , it is
also too low.

I solved the problem by opening a musicfile with the music player app, then
turning the sound to the maximum.
When reopening the navigation the sound is now ok.

@developpers of ubuntu-phone:

in "Audio" tere is only a thing to change the ringtone low-to-max.
my idea is to add settings can for "system-sound" and "Message-Sound"
at the buttons outside the screen lower-lowder i can reduce the general (all of
them).

Any other solution?

Re: [Bug 954661] backlight brightness not adjustable by default onDell XPS 13

2015-09-18 Thread Karlheinz Salver
on my XPS13 9333 it works since I had upgraded to 14.04 .
For the kdm (KDE) the boot was too fast and i had vertical lines
(|||) on the display. Therefore i added two times a sleeptime of 1
or 2 seconds in the shellscripts executed during boot.

regards and thanks for your good work
Karlheinz

[Bug 954661] Re: backlight brightness not adjustable by default on Dell XPS 13

2014-06-30 Thread Karlheinz Salver
I think there is another bug in the intel-graphics on my dell xps13 9333.
when i do  a $ sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop ... use of lightdm ... the
sceen shows white patterns like " ...".
I've changed the greeter to unity(ubuntu) -> the same problem. In some cases
the upper mentioned pattern is on the whole screen (Black), an even when
changing the console to F1 (console works) and going back to F7 the effect
remains. After a reboot i have the pattern again and cannot login on F7.
I've the sputnik kernel 3.5.x and use the ubuntu 12.04 delivered from
dell. newest updates where done.
