[Bug 151366] Re: crashed during dist upgrade

2007-10-11 Thread Karsten
Hi Michael,

I'm no expert, but I just looked in the 3 files in my /var/log(dist-
upgrade/ and they only showed new information from today, when i did it
again, I used Synaptic to delete all not installed packages, and ran the
dist-upgrade again.

Sorry, I think it is no help.

I very happy that you replied so fast, I'm sorry, but I removed the
problem.

I will take the time to make bugreport again next time --->IF<---I have
a problem. ;-)

[Bug 91412] MBR is overwritten after installation

2007-03-11 Thread Karsten
Public bug reported:

I started to install Kubuntu 6.10 with graphical frontend.
I want a special installation because i have installed many operating systems
and i am using bootstar as Boot-Manager.
So i can't use the standard options.
When starting the manual partition manager it crashed after reading the HD and
entering the configuration.
(I want to install Kubuntu on the 4th partition with 8 GB, the 5th partition is
swap with 256 MB)

Now i installed Kubuntu with the Text-Mode.
Here it works.
I could configure the partitions and define the mount-points.

BUT it has overwritten my MBR without any question !!!
That can't be true! I only expect something like this from Microsoft.
Any other Linux distribution i have ever installed was offering the option to
install GRUB on /dev/hda1 instead of the MBR.
This option must be included.

[Bug 91411] Re: KDE manual partition failed

2007-03-11 Thread Karsten
As i can remember i have choosen the manual partition.
Then it started to analyze the HD.
Then a blank screen appeared with the hints what to do but without any
partition informations.
The only think i could do was clicking the "next" button.
Then a message appears that the partition program has crashed.

In the bootmanager i can select which partitions could be seen by the operating
system.
When i only activate the 4th partition as root-partition it works and i can see
it.
But then i am missing the swap.
When i also enable the swap with the bootmanager then it crashes.
The both partitions where partitionized correctly with type 82 and 83.

That's all folks.

2007-03-26 Thread Karsten
Sorry - but i have gone back to Debian ;-)
The installation has been overwritten.

You must search the error in reading and analyzing of the partition table.
My Bootmanager is publishing only the activated partitions as partitionized.
The other partitions looks like not partitionized.
I think that is the problem in the software.

There was a non partitionized block first and then the root partition followed
by a swap partition.
Then again some not partitionized block.

This are the test conditions.

2007-04-13 Thread Karsten
O.K. I will try it. It should be no problem because it crashes before the
partition is done.
Then i complete the installation in the text-mode and try to find and copy the
logs.
But this will take some time. I hope i will have the time in the next week ...

I have the DVD V6.10 for AMD64. It is a double-core CPU.
At this time there is only the kubuntu-6.06.1-dvd-amd64.iso for dowload ?
Was the V6.10 not stable enough ?
I can remember that i also have problems to select and install packages after
the installation was complete.

[Bug 91412] Re: MBR is overwritten after installation

2007-03-23 Thread Karsten
Hmm i am not sure.
When you say it must be there then i believe it.

But i clicked from one page to another and missed it.
Maybe a summary-page before start of the install would help.
There should be the remark of install Grub in the MBR.
Then you have the chance to go back or break.

[Bug 91411] Re: KDE manual partition failed

2007-03-26 Thread Karsten
Sorry - but i have gone back to Debian ;-)
The installation has been overwritten.

You must search the error in reading and analyzing of the partition table.
My Bootmanager is publishing only the activated partitions as partitionized.
The other partitions looks like not partitionized.
I think that is the problem in the software.

There was a non partitionized block first and then the root partition followed
by a swap partition.
Then again some not partitionized block.

This are the test conditions.

[Bug 91411] Re: KDE manual partition failed

2007-04-13 Thread Karsten
Hi,

i want to try a new installation of Kubuntu on the same machine.
If you have some new stuff that i should test then please tell me.
Otherwise i will directly take the text-installer ...

[Bug 91411] Re: KDE manual partition failed

2007-04-13 Thread Karsten

[Bug 155485] Re: Brightness is automatically readjusted to match Brightness Applet

2008-01-08 Thread Karsten
I have the same problem on my Dell Inspiron 6400. From the gpm --verbose
output I can see that the brightness gets reset when gpm considers the
system idle (see attached log).

[Bug 53426] libapache2-mod-python2.4: mod_python segfaults when using mod_php at the same time and both have enabled mysql

2006-07-19 Thread karsten
Public bug reported:

If you have enabled mod_python and mod_php in the same apache instance
and using mysql you get a segfault.

I discovered this behavior when using the django framework with the
mysql database.

"ldd /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/_mysql.so" gives:
linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xe000)
libmysqlclient_r.so.14 => /usr/lib/libmysqlclient_r.so.14 (0xb7e69000)
libz.so.1 => /usr/lib/libz.so.1 (0xb7e55000)
libpthread.so.0 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libpthread.so.0 (0xb7e42000)

libnsl.so.1 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libnsl.so.1 (0xb7dfe000)
libm.so.6 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libm.so.6 (0xb7ddb000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (0xb7cad000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x8000)

"ldd /usr/lib/php5/20041030/mysql.so" gives:
linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xe000)
libmysqlclient.so.12 => /usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.12 (0xb7edb000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (0xb7dac000)
