I have an Asus F3E. It also has the following in dmesg.

[ 13.156059] ricoh-mmc: Controller is now disabled.

And in the "lspci -v" i get the following error. what does that mean?

08:01.4 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd xD-Picture Card Controller (rev ff)

I have attached the complete dmesg, lcpci -v and lsusb -v.

2009-04-14 Thread Karunadheera
prage...@prageeth-laptop:~$ aptoncd
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
FATAL -> Failed to fork.

I get the above error and I have monitored the memory usage during this
process. It goes to a threshold of 97.2% (out of my 2 GB ram) and
actually starts to increase the swap usage too. But on about 200 MB of
swap the operations fails with the above error. aptoncd window get
closed. So it seems like 2GB memory is also not enough these days :-D.
Thinking of buying another 2G card ( just kidding ). See the screenshot.

[Bug 238208] Re: Need MemoryStick driver Ricoh R5C822 chipset

2009-04-01 Thread Karunadheera

Maybe someone can create a new project in launchpad for this driver, set up the
basic driver files etc and at least get a dummy driver up that detects that a
MS or xD card has been inserted into the bay - so that we at least can inform
the uninformed user that "Sorry, but there are currently no available drivers
for MemoryStick or xD cards for your built-in card reader"

That is a good idea. In my Asus F3E also, memory stick duo card does not
work.

in intrepid.

HugePages_Total: 0

prage...@prageeth-laptop:~$ aptoncd
Reading package lists... Done

Reading state information... Done
FATAL -> Failed to fork.

Then i installed this one.

Hurray. It works. It does not use a high memory like the package coming
from the apt line.

But I did not try this on jaunty yet.

[Bug 278654] Re: gnome-system-monitor doesn't run in user

2008-12-20 Thread Karunadheera
I found an interesting fact about this bug.

I installed ubuntu 8.10 inside windows XP using wubi installer. This
crash does not occur in it. The I did a full system update and
restarted. I could not reproduce this bug under that installation
however.

May be then this is related to ext3 filesystem permissions?

[Bug 203527] Re: Clicking on clock applet hangs gnome-panel

2008-04-04 Thread Karunadheera
I noticed that the problem comes when I have a location added to the
clock. It hangs up the laptop. I use the Fn+F1 to sleep the computer,
then during wake up Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart safely with cleanly
unmounting hard disk.

Clicking on the Clock - Hanging up the whole desktop - Kills my time.
:-(

Please fix.

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share

2008-03-30 Thread Karunadheera
Here in Sri Lanka the story goes the same. Most of the PCs and Laptops
are sold with Windows pre-installed. Although these machines come with
also antivirus software, they are much prune to attacks. I bought an
Asus laptop with a clean hard disk as I needed Ubuntu on it. But the
general user prefers a pre-installation. Sri Lanka is a developing
country. People in this small country should not make microsoft rich.
They should not get used to pirated software even, when they have the
ability to embrace the freedom of software.

* We need to make computer hardware agents/resellers/buyers understand the true
story of software.

[Bug 238208] Re: Need MemoryStick driver Ricoh R5C822 chipset

2009-04-01 Thread Karunadheera

Maybe someone can create a new project in launchpad for this driver, set up the
basic driver files etc and at least get a dummy driver up that detects that a
MS or xD card has been inserted into the bay - so that we at least can inform
the uninformed user that "Sorry, but there are currently no available drivers
for MemoryStick or xD cards for your built-in card reader"

That is a good idea. In my Asus F3E also, memory stick duo card does not
work.

I have an Asus F3E. It also has the following in dmesg.
[ 13.155991] ricoh-mmc: Ricoh MMC Controller disabling driver
[ 13.155994] ricoh-mmc: Copyright(c) Philip Langdale
[ 13.156039] ricoh-mmc: Ricoh MMC controller found at :08:01.2
[1180:0843] (rev 12)
[ 13.156059] ricoh-mmc: Controller is now disabled.

And in the "lspci -v" i get the following error. what does that mean?

08:01.4 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd xD-Picture Card Controller (rev ff)
(prog-if ff)
!!! Unknown header type 7f

I have attached the complete dmesg, lcpci -v and lsusb -v.

prage...@prageeth-laptop:~$ aptoncd

FATAL -> Failed to fork.

In my Asus F3E also, memory stick duo card does not
work.

prage...@prageeth-laptop:~$ aptoncd

FATAL -> Failed to fork.

Then i installed this one.

Hurray. It works. It does not use a high memory like the package coming
from the apt line.

But I did not try this on jaunty yet.

2009-04-14 Thread Karunadheera
prage...@prageeth-laptop:~$ aptoncd

FATAL -> Failed to fork.

In my Asus F3E also, memory stick duo card does not
work.

[ 13.156059] ricoh-mmc: Controller is now disabled.

And in the "lspci -v" i get the following error. what does that mean?

I have attached the complete dmesg, lcpci -v and lsusb -v.

[Bug 238208] Re: Need MemoryStick driver Ricoh R5C822 chipset

2009-04-04 Thread Karunadheera

Then i installed this one.

Hurray. It works. It does not use a high memory like the package coming
from the apt line.

But I did not try this on jaunty yet.

I get the above error and I have monitored the memory usage during this

actually starts to increase the swap usage too. But on about 200 MB of
