[Bug 273018] Re: okular should support inverse search for DVI documents

2009-04-30 Thread Katsudon
Despite many efforts I have not managed to use inverse search in okular
("shift button + left mouse button"). Are you sure that okular's
version present in Ubuntu supports inverse search with kile? Or is it
just my computer that fails to do inverse search?

[Bug 370002] [NEW] forward search in Kile does not work with Okular

2009-04-30 Thread Katsudon
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 9.04.

In Kile I press the "forward search" button, the DVI file is opened in
Okular, but not at the correct place of the file but always at the
beginning. For this reason, "forward search" has only a functionality of
"Show DVI".

[Bug 403874] [NEW] Kile: the OK button in "Configure - Kile / Tools / Build" collides with the panel

2009-07-23 Thread Katsudon
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 9.10 alpha 3.
In Kile I open "Configure Kile" dialog. Everything is ok until I open the
"Tools/ Build" part. Then the window expands so that the OK button lands at the
same place as the bottom KDE panel (you can see it through thanks to
transparency). There is no chance to reduce the size of the window now; the
only way to click OK is thanks to the "Tab" button. In this way using
"Configure Kile" becomes very hard.

Karmic koala: same problems.

More specifically, when opening Kdevelop specifically for Ruby
development, no Ruby templates show up (only C++ templates).

Also, I tried hard to run any program in Ruby, to no effect (which means
that either there is a bug or configuring the launch configuration is so
unintuitional that it is unusable).

[Bug 321430] [NEW] Jaunty: after install the first user is not in the sudoers

2009-01-26 Thread Katsudon

Jaunty Jackalope Kubuntu, daily build from around January 23, 2009.

Jaunty Kubuntu was installed using the alternate installer, the /home

[Bug 321777] [NEW] jaunty: in kde the bubbles above the panel are not readable

Public bug reported:

Kubuntu Jaunty Alpha 3 + all upgrades. Clean install, but since /home
was on a separate partition, the old configuration files of the user
from Intrepid were kept. However, these configuration files are
essentially intrepid defaults.

If you move the mouse over the bottom panel, a bubble shows up. However,
the color of the text is very dark so that essentially nothing can be

[Bug 324722] [NEW] Kile cannot create symliks to lyxpipe; in this way collaboration with jabref is not possible

2009-02-02 Thread Katsudon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kile

Kubuntu 8.04 with all upgrades.
The same problem concerns Kubuntu 8.10 with all upgrades.
In both cases: clean install, but the /home was on a separate partition so the
user configuration files are from the older versions of Ubuntu.

When starting kile from the command line, it starts fine, but generates
the following message:

kile: ERROR: Could not create symlink: /home/user/.lyx/lyxpipe.in -->

kile: ERROR: Could not create symlink: /home/user/.lyx/lyxpipe.out -->

[Bug 311492] Re: brighness works in the opposite way on Lenovo Ideapad Y530

Yes, now it works like a charm. Very good suggestion!

>From a perspective of collaboration between kile and jabref I think this
is a bug (they simply do not talk to each other out of the box).

However I admit that it might be bizzare if the default behavior of kile
would be to create empty .lyx if it does not exist (since LyX is not
directly related to kile).

To summarize: I do not know what should be the right behavior.

In the next wave of updates somehow the problem with the strange package
of skype got resesolved by itself (but also during this last upgrade,
apt-get downloaded the same file three times).

[Bug 381916] [NEW] If in KDE the left-handed mouse is selected, tapping on touchpad results with right-click

2009-05-30 Thread Katsudon
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 8.04 + all upgrades
laptop Lenovo R61i

In "KDE System Settings > Keyboard & Mouse > Mouse " I select "left-handed
mouse".
Then if I tap on the touchpad it results with a "right-click" (I mean,
"auxiliary actions") and not with the "left-click" (the usual actions of the
mouse).

This makes the life of a left-handed person quite miserable.

[Bug 414140] [NEW] [karmic] impossible to switch from kdm to gdm

2009-08-15 Thread Katsudon
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu Karmic, with all upgrades installed.
Firstly, kubuntu was installed, then ubuntu-desktop was added.

It is impossible to switch from kdm to gdm using the standard command:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm
  * Reloading GNOME Display Manager configuration...
  * Changes will take effect when all current X sessions have ended.
invoke-rc.d: initscript gdm, action "reload" failed.

On the other hand, the command:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure kdm

results with no output.
In each case, the standard dialog "Select the desired default display manager"
is not shown and kdm keeps running after the restart of the system.

[Bug 404439] Re: [GM965] in KDE after logging out, the KDM login session opens no more

I am afraid I had problems to produce backtrack:

1. apport says "No pending crash reports. ".

2. command

results with
/etc/X11/core: No such file or directory.

For other methods from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing I am
probably a bit too lazy. Sorry.

Kubuntu Karmic alpha 3.

At various occasions I get a window with the following error:

The simplest way to get this error is to click on K-menu and then on the upper

Another way is to launch "Ubuntu One".
Yet another way is to launch Sage-notebook server (required sofware was

[Bug 311494] Re: Hibernation and suspend do not work properly in Lenovo Ideapad Y530

2008-12-31 Thread Katsudon
"I have seen this page recommended for Lenevo's with suspend to Disk/RAM
problems.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NvidiaLaptopBinaryDriverSuspend";

The above link is related to Bug #34043, connected with proprietary nvidia
driver.
However, after switching off the proprietary driver the problem remains, so
probably these two issues are not related.

[Bug 310676] [NEW] jigdo download fails

2008-12-22 Thread Katsudon
Public bug reported:

I am using Kubuntu 8.10 with all upgrades.

During download of Kubuntu Jaunty CD, alternate for i386, Alpha 2 via
jigdo-lite there are 42 files which cannot be downloaded. The problem
remains even if a different mirror server is used.

As an example, just a couple of files which fail to download:
http://archive.ubuntu.com/archive/pool/main/x/xserver-xorg-video-fbdev/xserver-xorg-video-fbdev_0.4.0-1build3_i386.deb
http://archive.ubuntu.com/archive/pool/main/x/xserver-xorg-video-v4l/xserver-xorg-video-v4l_0.2.0-1ubuntu4_i386.deb
http://archive.ubuntu.com/archive/pool/main/s/samba/libwbclient0_3.2.5-1ubuntu1_i386.deb

This seems to be not a software problem but rather a problem related
with the contents of the Ubuntu archive
(http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/) or with the .jigdo file, anyway it
is a bug.

I remember to have the same problem a couple of months ago when
downloading the development version of Intrepid.

I am not sure if this bug should be attached to "jigdo" source package
since it does not seem to be due to a bug in jigdo, but rather to some
missing files on the Ubuntu servers.

[Bug 311492] [NEW] brighness works in the opposite way on Lenovo Ideapad Y530

2008-12-26 Thread Katsudon
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 8.10 with all upgrades.
laptop Lenovo Thinkpad Y530

Brighness controls work in a rather strange way.
Increasing the brightness (Fn+Up) is correctly recognized (the on-screen
display shows increasing the brightness), but the outcome is opposite: the
screen is dimmed. With decreasing the brightness the situation is opposite.

Therefore, to have the screen on full brightness one has to *decrease*
the brightness almost completely. Almost, because making one decrease
too much actually almost completely switches the brightness off.

[Bug 311494] [NEW] Hibernation and suspend do not work properly in Lenovo Ideapad Y530

2008-12-26 Thread Katsudon
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 8.10 with all upgrades.

Laptop Lenovo Ideapad Y530

During suspend to disk the screen switches to text mode with text
similar to:

NOHZ: local_softirq_pending 100
ata1: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x9 t4
ata1: irq_stat 0x00400040, connection status changed
ata2: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x9 t4
ata2: irq_stat 0x00400040, connection status changed

Then nothing happens and the laptop remains powered-up.
After manual power-down and reboot the system correctly and nicely wakes up
from the hibernation.
Therefore, the hibernation can be achieved, but not in the right way.

On the same machine suspend to RAM results in a blank screen in a text
mode. After manual power-down and restart the system does not wake up,
but the usual reboot happens. Therefore, suspend to RAM does not work.

[Bug 299349] [NEW] dolphin does not show updated contents of the directory

[Bug 280762] Re: knetworkmanager under kde4 doesn't recognize the static IP connections that I have configured.

2008-12-18 Thread Katsudon
Not a very elegant workaround: after each login type

killall knetworkmanager

and run the GNOME applet by

nm-applet

Works like a charm but needs to be done after every login... Probably
this could be automated by putting these commands into some KDE's
autorun files.

[Bug 247798] [NEW] "Comment tool" does not work properly if static word wrap is on

2008-07-12 Thread Katsudon
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 8.04, kile 2.0.0, package 1:2.0-1

If static word wrap is enabled (Settings->Configure
Kile->Editor->Editing->Enable static word wrap) and a longer paragraph
is selected (several lines, each line close in length to the maximal
length as defined by the static word wrap) then Ctrl-D ("Comment") tool
does not really comment the paragraph in the right way.

Example: set "wrap words at: 80", then attempt to comment the paragraph:

a a a aaa aaa aaa
a a a aaa aaa aaa
aaa aaa

results with:

% a a a aaa aaa aaa

% a a a aaa aaa aaa

% aaa aaa

in other words, there are two lines which consist of "" and are not
commented.

[Bug 849] Re: getting kile package either adds too much or too little

2008-11-07 Thread Katsudon
Correct me if I am wrong, but a possible solution would be to add a
package "kile-only" to the repository which installs just kile and its
very direct dependencies.

[Bug 298186] [NEW] KDE4: keys for sound do not work if one of the applets is activated

2008-11-14 Thread Katsudon
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 8.10, Thinkpad R61i

Special keys for sound volume usually work fine (volume changes and
there is OSD (on-screen display) for sound volume)

However, when one of the following happens a) the KDE menu is opened b)
the sound applet is opened c) the Klipper is opened, etc... then there
is no OSD and there is no change in sound volume.

** Affects: ubuntu
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

This must have been a problem with some settings inherited from the old
instalation. Now everything is fine.

[Bug 207980] Re: task switching w/Stellarium causes display failure, system hang

2008-11-01 Thread Katsudon
Since the task switching with Stellarium does not cause a crash, I am
tempted to change the description of the bug as follows below (since the
change is so drastic, I did not dare to do it now):

Description: task switching with Stellarium does not work

Binary package hint: stellarium

Ubuntu 8.10. Task switching with Stellarium (like Alt-F2, Windows-Tab,
etc) for a second or two works but then Stellarium comes back in front.
