[Bug 1660041] Re: wrong keyboard layout in gdm

2017-08-11 Thread Kenichi Ito
I found this issue happens in some cases after doing that procedure.

My environment:
Ubuntu Gnome 17.04
Japanese (JP) keyboard layout

Precondition:
All Settings > Language Support
Then configure Japanese and then click "Apply System-Wide".

OK:
1. Logged in state
2. Lock screen (Super + L)
3. Unlock screen
4. Password approved due to correct(JP) keyboard layout

Wrong:
1. Logged in state
2. Logout
3. Attempt to login
4. Password rejected due to wrong(US) keyboard layout

Wrong:
1. Start computer with automatic-login disable
2. Attempt to login
3. Password rejected due to wrong(US) keyboard layout

Thanks for the information.
I tried that with Ubuntu 17.04 and a Japanese keyboard, it works.

[Bug 1540063] Re: Slideshow output in different font when install in Japanese. (16.04)

2016-03-20 Thread Kenichi Ito
I confirmed that the latest PPA version was improved when rendering Japanese
under a non-CJKV locale.
But it may have negative effects for Chinese under a non-CJKV locale, because
the font is changed.
(I am a native speaker of Japanese but not Chinese.)

Should ubiquity change the locale?
Japanese font should show in Japanese.
Chinese font should show in Chinese.

I wonder that other applications aren't affected.

Yes. Chinese font and Japanese font are different in the same character.
That's why Noto Sans CJK {JP, KR, SC, TC} exists.
