[Bug 824280] Re: iwlagn driver won't associate to a WPA2 network created with hostapd
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected precise staging ** Description changed: On my home server (screwtape) running 10.04, I created a WPA2 network with hostapd 0.7.3 and tried to connect to it from my laptop running 11.04. (I tried doing this with hostapd 0.6.10, which is the packaged version on that host, but my laptop didn't even see it then.) My laptop would almost never associate using its mini-PCI Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100 adapter -- the Network Manager or Wicd icons would just animate for awhile and then it would ask for the key, repeatedly. In several dozen attempts I was able to associate successfully I think three times. Trying to connect on other hosts like my wife's Windows 7 PC or my iPod touch was successful always. Trying it with other hardware (an Atheros- based Belkin PC card and a Ralink-based MSI USB stick) on the same laptop was successful as well. In trying to get the Intel wireless card to work, I tried all of the following variations on the HostAP network: Wireless-G, WPA2, CCMP Wireless-G, WPA, CCMP Wireless-G, WPA, TKIP Wireless-G, WEP None were successful with the Intel hardware, all were successful with other hardware. [Bug 968882] [NEW] ruby gems that use readline report error opening readline.so
Public bug reported: Background: I have been using rvc to manage an ESXi server -- this is a Ruby gem that called an API to talk to the server. It wants ffi for better tab completion, so I also have libffi-ruby installed. Now whenever I run rvc, I get this: Error loading readline-ffi: Could not open library 'libreadline.so': libreadline.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. Could not open library 'readline.so': readline.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. Tab completion will be limited. However, when I strace rvc to see where it's looking for readline and/or libreadline, I actually see this several times in the output: open("/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/x86_64-linux/readline.so", O_RDONLY) = 3 So readline.so *is* there and ruby *can* (and does) load it, but I am still getting this error. I'm not sure if it's a bug in the rvc code, or the ruby runtime itself, but I suspect the runtime so I'm filing it here. [Bug 707233] Re: vlc will not allow pasting a URL with spaces into the Network Stream dialog
Yes, this is still an issue in the version I have with Ubuntu 11.04 (1.1.9-1ubuntu1.3). The example URL from my initial report should demonstrate the issue. I think it is highly unlikely the upstream will fix it since it was his deliberate decision to break it in the first place (see forum thread link from my initial report). Interestingly, if I replace the spaces with %20's, VLC will not play the resulting stream URL, but Clementine and Rhythmbox both do, and both convert the %20's back to spaces when displaying the stream URL. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/707233 Title: vlc will not allow pasting a URL with spaces into the Network Stream dialog To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/707233/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 824280] [NEW] iwlagn driver won't associate to a WPA2 network created with hostapd
Public bug reported: On my home server (screwtape) running 10.04, I created a WPA2 network with hostapd 0.7.3 and tried to connect to it from my laptop running 11.04. [Bug 515832] [NEW] gnome-screensaver does not install a DBUS service definitiion file
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver In karmic's GNOME desktop, locking the screen is accomplished through D-BUS by using the Lock method provided by gnome-screensaver. [Bug 436724] Re: lock screen doesn't work
I started with lock not working at all and partially resolved my issues by creating my own .service file (attached) in /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.gnome.ScreenSaver.service Before: * Ctrl-Alt-L did not lock * "dbus-send --print-reply --reply-timeout=100 --dest=org.gnome.ScreenSaver / org.gnome.ScreenSaver.Lock" terminated with the error: "Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.ScreenSaver was not provided by any .service files" * session-menu -> Lock Screen did not work After: * Ctrl-Alt-L works * the dbus command works but also generates the following error: "Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." * session-menu -> Lock Screen still does not work There is still another issue -- when I go to unlock by striking a key or moving the mouse, the screensaver freezes but the unlock dialog does not appear.
