[Bug 810093] Re: The new (2.6.39+) samsung_laptop kernel module causes serious backlight flickering - makes the desktop unusable
I'm sorry, just realized my foul up. I had forgotten to update Grub after reverting the changes in abovementioned Voria forums. [Bug 810093] Re: The new (2.6.39+) samsung_laptop kernel module causes serious backlight flickering - makes the desktop unusable
Using a Samsung x125. I first followed the instructions here: http://www.voria.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=821&hilit=brightness+flicker Then I instead used the Voria PPA. The flickering does not happen, but I'm unable to adjust the backlight with the Fn + arrow keys. Is this expected behaviour, a bug or did I screw up anything? [Bug 874361] [NEW] Oneiric introduces severe flickering when adjusting brightness
Public bug reported: A Samsung X125 subnotebook. Upgraded from Natty last night. First noticed this when pulling the AC power, brightness is reduced, as usual, but the brightness setting slides up and down like crazy. After a while I also see this when adjusting brightness with the Fn + arrow keys. My "solution" has been to force it all the way down or up, depending on my needs, by using the Fn + arrow keys. There is no specific amount of keypresses that finally makes the flickering stop and brightness to settle on either max or min brightness. Have never experienced this bug before, so I'm assuming this is a regression. [Bug 351035] Re: Recovery of documents opens 2 versions: last save and a restore
I'm sorry, but is there any chance that the above command will do anything with this bug? I mean, the bug report is 2,5 years old, I'm several versions of Ubuntu away, on a newer computer, and of course I'm now using LibreOffice. A little late to the party this response, isn't it? I love Ubuntu and open source software, but after 7-8 years of reporting bugs, I'm almost put entirely off. This is one of many examples of bugs being pushed around to confirmed (if even that), then nothing happens at all. Not trying to start up a debate about this on Launchpad (because I know it's not a forum), but I just think it reflects poorly on Ubuntu. More in relation to this specific bug, I'm not going to vaste any time issuing any commands (whether they work or not) for a trivial bug that will not move any more the next 2,5 years. I guess this can be changed to status "oldasdirtandnobodybotherswithitanymore", which seems to be a missing option. (At least that would be tongue-in-cheek.) @Alberto: It shouldn't be in the launcher for the same reason that no other background tasks should stay there. [Bug 593003] Re: wishlist: Indicator-applet needs active chatrooms under "Chat"
I'm aware of that. What's your point? Expanding, how about someting along these lines? - If all chats are in one tabbed window, X-ing them sends them to messaging window with the entry "Tabbed Chats". - If the umber of separate chat windows are equal to or less than, say 5, then have them as separate entries in the messaging menu. If there are more than that number, give a warning that X-ing them away will disconnect the conversations. Hopefully you understand my main point, even though the minor details would need some adjusting. -- Ketil -- wishlist: Indicator-applet needs active chatrooms under "Chat" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/593003 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 552227] Re: gwibber-accounts crashed with KeyError in get_account_data()
@Toupeiro: The question was not out of line, I agree. Thinking that comment #26 is a fix-all for all users was wrong. Postulating that all users after comment #26 can't follow instructions was out of line, in my opinion. Especially when several users have said that the steps didn't work *for them*. Anyway, I tried investigating the steps in #26. I thought this might be due to the fact that Gwibber was already authorized on my Facebook profile. So, I removed Gwibber in Facebook application settings. I then was able to go through all the steps, and Gwibber has all boxes checked on Facebook. (Which it also used to have, because I first used Gwibber months and months ago.) I still have no success, and the same crash. So, proving that I can actually use scrollbars, can we accept that this is a software bug, not some users' inability to use a basic web UI? Gwibber on my computer still does *nothing*, neither showing Twitter/ Identi.ca, nor posting to them. I'm not sure if these are all symptoms of the same problem. [Bug 436444] Re: Firefox needs clicked twice to come to front over Synaptic
** Description changed: - Binary package hint: gnome-do + Not related to Gnome Do as I originally thought. Might be due to how Gnome handles windows, or maybe Synaptic. + Advice is needed to assign this bug to the right package. - What I did: Have Synaptic and Firefox open. Gnome Do is running in docky mode. Have Synaptic covering the screen. - When I try to bring Firefox to front its icon needs to be clicked twice in order to have it appear. + I'm using Compiz from the Ubuntu repos if that should matter. - I tried with the window list applet, and there it does not require more - than one click. - - This is on Karmic with all updates installed. Gnome-do is from ubuntu - repos. - - Note: I'm having problems getting Compiz to run as of the latest updates. I'll try with the window list applet once I'm able to get Compiz to run to ensure that it's not a Compiz bug. - I'll also check methodically to see if this also relates to other applications once Compiz is again running. + This is the short description of the the steps to reproduce: + Open Firefox, open Synaptic, click Firefox to have it be brought to front. Only this first toggle is buggy, following toggles between the two seems to work fine. -- Firefox needs clicked twice to come to front over Synaptic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/436444 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 436444] Re: Firefox needs clicked twice to come to front over Synaptic
Alright, I think I narrowed this down now, and made a screencast of the bug. Step by step in the screencast: > First I open Firefox > Then I open Synaptic -- They are now visible in the window list applet. Since ynaptic was opened last, it is visible on the screen. > I click Firefox once. The window list button is slightly different coloured. > Synaptic is still in front > I click Firefox again, and Firefox is brought to front. [Bug 376227] Re: sshfs mounts remote folder to mountpoint AND as a drive on the desktop
Isn't this the expected behaviour? If I understand this correctly mounted drives are shown on desktop, regardless of where the actual mountpoint resides. If you try mounting it under /media/somedrive it'll still show up on the desktop. This is much the same way that USB-keys will show an icon on your desktop even though it most likely automounts under /media/disk or something similar. You can think of the mount icon that pops up on your desktop as a link. The directory you created on your desktop is still a directory if you don't have anything mounted to it. If you don't want mounted devices shown on desktop, you can change that in gconf-editor: apps > nautilus > desktop: uncheck "volumes_visible" I would never have thought to mount drives under /home/[user]/Desktop myself, because it seems much cleaner when all mounted drives (except root) are mounted under /media/[somedrive] -- sshfs mounts remote folder to mountpoint AND as a drive on the desktop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/376227 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
