[Bug 1726367] Re: fwupd crashed with SIGSEGV in fu_plugin_dell_match_dock_component()

2017-11-29 Thread Kevin Farley
I encountered this same error and was automagically pointed here by the
bug reporting software.

Configuration: Dell Precision 7720, K17A (TB16) dock, Ubuntu 17.10 -
live version, not installed. I had disabled USB security in BIOS prior
to boot. Still running UEFI.

Booted a live 17.10 load from USB on the 7720 laptop. Everything was
working when booting with dock plugged and all devices attached:
ethernet, 2 displays, keyboard, and mouse.

When I tested hotplug, I encountered this same error.

Note that after the hotplug, both external displays and the laptop
display worked correctly with extended display. Furthermore, the
keyboard, mouse, and ethernet worked as well. It took a few seconds for
everything to get recognized and restarted, but they did work.

[Bug 229753] Re: Live CD init failure - rcs main process killed by SEGV

2012-08-17 Thread Kevin Farley
It had been so long I forgot about this bug. I no longer have the
machine that the bug was observed on. After a few months of not being
able to live boot Ubuntu to create a dual-boot environment. I replaced
that machine in early 2009 and donated it mid 2009 to someone who could
not afford to buy any computer.

Since I cannot recreate the test setup, I must defer to others as to its
closure. What I do remember was that it would not live boot with its
video card in even when using Ubuntu 9.04. After that I don't know
because I no longer have the machine.
