[Bug 1323822] Re: Firefox can not play some WebM videos generated by avconv on Trusty

2014-06-11 Thread Kevin Shenk
As this is fixed in libav upstream, it is possible to fix webm files on trusty
using a libav update PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~motumedia/+archive/libav10-trusty

After enabling the PPA and updating libav, you can use this command to fix the
webm files:
avconv -i input.webm -codec copy output.webm

[Bug 1294810] [NEW] Please Enable SSL Gatewaying Support

2014-03-19 Thread Kevin Shenk
Public bug reported:

Many schools and businesses are using Squid as a content filter for
their internal networks.

The current squid package distributed by Ubuntu works great for this,
except that SSL gatewaying support is not enabled, creating a filtering
vulnerability: wherever possible, users can easily switch from the HTTP
to the HTTPS protocol to bypass content filtering.

The workaround is to add two switches at compile time:
   --enable-ssl
   --enable-ssl-crtd

As this seems to simply enable a feature, is there any reason not to
enable these?

SOURCE: https://github.com/ra-at-diladele-com/qlproxy_external/wiki
/Filtering-HTTPS

** Affects: squid3 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 785701] Re: Inkscape freezes at opening

2013-12-20 Thread Kevin Shenk
I can confirm that the bug effects me in 13.10. Using the
maxrecentdocuments fix from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/inkscape/+bug/785701/comments/11
also solved the problem here.

I had noticed that the recent documents menu never worked for me. Every
time I selected an item it would open a different file from the same
list...

[Bug 1157332] Re: /etc/dnsmasq.d-available/lxc circular link

2013-03-27 Thread Kevin Shenk
I'm not sure exactly how to reproduce this, but I've got the same error
message while doing an apt-get dist-upgrade on raring ~ 5 minutes ago.

[Bug 966744] Re: [i965] Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended. Compiz hung in intel_update_renderbuffers() from intel_prepare_render() from brw

2012-08-23 Thread Kevin Shenk
I'd also love to know whether we can expect to see this fixed in stock
12.04. I've been holding off several precise installs and upgrades
until this is fixed.

This is a problem in on my Karmic server. In my case, the logs are

I only have one USB device so I know exactly what it's complaining
