[Bug 231221] Re: Saving a file from Firefox to a gvfs resource fails silently

2008-09-30 Thread Kevin Steen
As a workaround, I find I can succesfully save to the mounted folder via the
".gvfs" hidden folder:
~/.gvfs/$resourcename on $servername

[Bug 173111] Broken links don't appear in HOME folder

2007-11-30 Thread Kevin Steen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Broken symbolic links in the HOME directory aren't shown in Nautilus.
(e.g Symbolic links to folders on un-mounted shares.) However, broken
links _are_ shown in folders which aren't the user's HOME folder.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 173099] Re: Broken symbolic links as xdg directories cause application or system hang

2007-11-30 Thread Kevin Steen
Further testing reveals no problem with FAT filesystems, nor with other
applications' Save-As dialogs. Also unable to reproduce the 'ls' hang. I
suspect a weird interaction between CIFS and Firefox. Declaring this bug
Invalid.

** Changed in: xdg-user-dirs (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Invalid

[Bug 173099] Broken symbolic links as xdg directories cause application or system hang

2007-11-30 Thread Kevin Steen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xdg-user-dirs

Applications hang (and often the entire system) when a broken symbolic link is
used as an xdg directory.
On my system, ~/Pictures is a symbolic link to /mnt/stuff/images/ which is
often not available at login time. If I try to do an 'ls' of that directory, or
open the Save As.. dialog in firefox, that application hangs and often the
system hangs aswell.
Straight after a Gnome login, the Pictures folder is not displayed at all in
Nautilus - it only appears once the target folder has been mounted.

System is Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy).
xdg-usr-dirs is version: 0.9-0ubuntu2

The offending link target is mounted via CIFS, but I haven't tried to
reproduce the problem on other filesystems yet.
