[Bug 856810] Re: Boot hangs at Booting system without full network configuration...

2011-10-27 Thread Koen Verweij
I can confirm that this is fixed for me too. However since it is still
happening for illumilore I think that my bug was actually bug 881079
instead. Bug 881079 is fixed with the new upstart update. There are also
several other similar (or maybe duplicate??) bugs to this one: bug
876449, bug 858122 and bug 881079.

[Bug 856810] Re: Boot hangs at Booting system without full network configuration...

2011-09-28 Thread Koen Verweij
I have the same problem and tried both this:

I noticed the bug #847782 and removed the auto eth0 entry from my
/etc/network/interfaces.

and this:

In my case, this behavior went away as soon as I tried the fix in
comment #9 for bug #811441. For me, this was just a symptom that the
system could not communicate with dbus.

but my problem is not fixed.
I have now used a workaround: I edited /etc/init/failsafe.conf and changed the
sleep numbers.

[Bug 420933] Re: Current grub-pc takes several minutes to show menu

2009-09-17 Thread Koen Verweij
My grub2 had a short (compared to Dean's) delay varying from 6-10 seconds too.
Not wanting to try jocko's workaround I changed the boot priority of my hard
drives so it would boot the drive where grub2 is installed on first. Now there
is no delay (or maybe 0.5 seconds or sth).
Now I'm not even sure why it loaded grub2 before I changed this, since it is
not suppose to be installed on the other drives.

2009-09-16 Thread Koen Verweij
I'm having the same issue (bug 430547, I marked it as duplicate). Each
time I boot Apport reports the kernel error 2-4 times (maybe the double
reports is a separate Apport bug). Like asked before: is there a way for
me to disable the ECC module. My motherboard, a Gigabyte K8NF-9, does
not support ECC so I can not disable it in the BIOS.

[Bug 431158] [NEW] NetworkManager displays and reports Network disabled while its not; can't disable

2009-09-16 Thread Koen Verweij
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

On an updated Karmic NetworkManager starts up fine but displays the disabled
icon in the notification area and when mouse hovering reports Networking
disabled. Networking is however not disabled and internet works fine.
When trying to disable by right-clicking and unchecking the Enable Networking
nothing happens. Networking stays, the icon stays the same and the checkbox in
the menu is still checked.

I guess if you're getting
http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.0.14/whatsnew/ instead now, it is
probably a localization problem as you suggest.

[Bug 426422] Re: Firefox First Run page shows 404 error on Karmic

2009-09-10 Thread Koen Verweij
I just noticed this on todays live cd of Karmic. Running the Live CD I started
Firefox and both http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/3.5.2/firstrun/ and
http://www.mozilla.org/ came up.
Ubufox is installed but I don't see it in Firefox.

[Bug 427347] [NEW] Ubiquity does not go forward when selecting Specify partitions manually

2009-09-10 Thread Koen Verweij
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

On today's AMD64 live CD of Karmic (10 September 2009) I'm experiencing a
problem during install. After choosing keyboard settings the partitioner loads
up. When selecting Specify partitions manually and pressing forward a
separate window Scanning disks... appears. After that however the screen does
not continue to the next step. When pressing forward again No root file system
is defined window pops up.
See screenshot.

** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

This still happens for the new 3.0.13 update. A tab appeared which tries
to get to http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/3.0.13/whatsnew/ but
this page does not exist. I added a duplicate bug too
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/409247).

then why aren't there a million duplicates to this bug? Please fix this,
it makes Ubuntu look unprofessional. Just a minor annoyance, but an

[Bug 200612] Re: Many gtk+ programmes looks ugly in kubuntu hardy heron

2008-03-10 Thread Koen Verweij
These are programs that require root access. They use /root/.themes
instead of ~/.themes for the appearance. To fix this you can copy your
themes from ~/.themes to /root/.themes or create a symbolic link.
