[Bug 742257] Re: Natty Narwhal 64-bit for Mac: macbook pro runs very hot - no fans can be heard

2011-04-14 Thread Kris Marsh
Turns out this is a known issue in Maverick too. See
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBookPro6-2/Maverick#Sensors for
workaround.

Module 'coretemp' needs to be modprobed, as soon as this is done I see
the fans spin up (gradually over, say 2 minutes).

[Bug 742257] Re: Natty Narwhal 64-bit for Mac: macbook pro runs very hot - no fans can be heard

2011-04-02 Thread Kris Marsh
Ok, so your fans are both running at 2400 RPM, so they're definitely
running - at least according to proc. You should be able to barely hear
the fan run if you put your ears close to the top of the keyboard?

Your temperatures look fairly stable, but a bit on the hot side (like
mine) - but I'm not sure of the typical running temperature when running
OS-X to compare against.

When running cpuburn (burnMMX, burnP6 etc.), the temperatures go sky-
high and the fans don't spin up - This definitely looks like a fan
control issue to me.

I don't see this issue on a fresh install on a MacbookPro 6,2 - with
Ubuntu 11.04 beta 32-bit - I have not changed from the default graphics
driver.

2011-04-02 Thread Kris Marsh
I can't completely reproduce this issue, but I'm running Ubuntu 11.04
(beta) 32-bit. I haven't seen the fan run higher than the min speed,
however so it's possible that the fan control is broken.

Could you paste a copy of the following information?

[Bug 463059] Re: Process 'gs' begins taking 100% CPU and loading up vast amounts of RAM on CUPS restart

2010-01-22 Thread Kris Marsh
Same issue with me, sending a pdf or ps to a printer on a headless
server.

* Problem also occurs if scp'ing files and printing locally (i.e. lpr
filename.pdf) - when leaving it (10 mins for a 3-page pdf on a 700MHz
processor, it eventually came out).
* Print queue is empty

Till Kamppeter: Is it possible to rollback to an earlier version of that
driver to test?

[Bug 273196] Re: xterm does not want to update window

2008-10-04 Thread Kris Marsh
I can confirm this, it's been around since alpha1 or alpha2 at least.
Ctrl-L / refresh/ reset also works to fix it.

Compiz is turned off, so that's presumably not the cause.

It happens after every couple of commands, and happens every time I'm in
an xterm.

[Bug 267419] Re: [hardy] Cannot use question mark ("?") in URL link/shortcut

2008-09-07 Thread Kris Marsh
Hi, This is not a duplicate.

The problem in bug #233913 does not seem to exist on my machine.
Additionally, the 'custom launcher' is a different application to the
'Create Launcher' on the desktop.

If you can confirm that the following reproducible steps above result in
the correct outcome in Ibex then that would be great. Otherwise, this is
still a bug.

Thanks!

Quoting must be done by enclosing the argument between double quotes and
escaping the double quote character... Reserved characters are question
mark ("?")...

I've tried using \? "?" "\?" \"?" \"\" etc., but none of these make the
link work.

[Bug 197036] [NEW] Search Settings -> Update Settings fails when search filter is blank

2008-02-29 Thread Kris Marsh
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: torrentflux

You can reproduce this by browsing to:

/admin.php?op=searchSettings

Or via the admin menu: Admin->Search Settings

Changing the search engine to one that has no filters (e.g. "isoHunt"),
and then clicking "Update Settings".

---

With the default install, there are some search engines with no search
filters. When trying to save the page in this instance, it fails:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in
/usr/share/torrentflux/www/settingsfunctions.php on line 158

The problem exists because settingsfunction.php::saveSettings($settings)
does not check $settings==null before trying to iterate through it.
Patch attached to resolve the problem.

I've also checked the source for the Hardy package and the same error
exists. Patch should apply cleanly on both.

[Bug 133919] [gutsy] tooltips take way too long to display

2007-08-21 Thread Kris Marsh
Public bug reported:

Tooltips take around 1.5-2 seconds to display. This is long enough for
an average user to unhover (thinking there isn't going to be any context
help).

The tooltip delay was effective in Feisty, can we get this reverted?

Also, is this configurable via gconf?
