Question is why libpurple should be fixed there? I think the ticket should be renamed to: "[gg] invoke prpl actions to sync buddy list because of lack of functinality in Telepathy for now" because libpurple approach is standard-like here. Well as I know MyspaceIM in Empathy is supported by telepathy-haze. That's pretty problematic solution. Ok, problem occurs when I want to use both two application that use channels. If I use just one program pulseaudio works weel but when I want to play music from Banshee and Mplayer it crashed with that error. Same issue just in other situation.
