[Bug 1545959] [NEW] Can't login when Ubuntu is a member of AD

2016-02-15 Thread Kumbarov
Public bug reported:

One cannot login from the GUI on Ubuntu 14.04 and 16.04 (and probably
others) when Ubuntu is connected to Active Directory before one has
logged in from TTY or SSH.

Reproduce:

1. Install Ubuntu.
2. Run 'echo "greeter-show-manual-login=true" >>
/usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-ubuntu.conf && echo "" >>
/usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-ubuntu.conf' to enable manual login from
the GUI.
3. Connect computer to Active Directory (maybe the same bug exists if you
connect to LDAP instead).
4. Try logging in from the GUI with some user account from AD - it does not
work.

Workaround:

1. Login with the same account from TTY or SSH.
2. Back in the GUI, the account can be selected and login works.

[Bug 1469485] [NEW] Chromium triggers keychain unlock too late

2015-06-28 Thread Kumbarov
Public bug reported:

When you visit a login page for which you have saved the password, the
browser does not auto fill the password. You have to enter it again.
Once you have entered it, Chromium asks you to save it (even though it
has been saved a thousand times before). When you choose to save it,
Ubuntu asks you to unlock the keychain. After you unlock it, you don't
have to manually enter saved passwords in the current session.

This is extremely stupid and inconvenient - what's the point of saving
passwords when you have to always enter it again plus enter the keychain
password to log into accounts? Instead of not entering any password -
you have to enter two passwords! Other browsers, like Firefox, don't
work this way. Please remove the keychain unlock all together or trigger
the unlock dialogue prior account password entry or on browser startup.

[Bug 1441487] [NEW] Running any Java program produces messages in the terminal

2015-04-08 Thread Kumbarov
Public bug reported:

I just installed Ubuntu 15.04 and was surprised to discover that when
running a Java based program from the terminal in Unity, the following
message appears: Picked up JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS:
-javaagent:/usr/share/java/jayatanaag.jar. I tried several programs and
it is all the same. Some Java programs with enabled Java security
produce even some error messages and crash. If I press Ctrl+Alt+F1 to
start a new terminal session without a GUI and run a Java program
(without a GUI), I don't experience this problem. Back in Unity, if I
unset JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS in the terminal and run a Java program, it works
fine.

[Bug 1440240] [NEW] PHYLIP seems to be debug compiled with no optimization

2015-04-03 Thread Kumbarov
Public bug reported:

I installed the PHYLIP software and ran a set of data with the fitch
tool. It took 17:39 minutes which seemed very long. I then downloaded
the source code with the 'apt-get source phylip' command and checked the
make file. It reads:

...
CFLAGS  = -g
#
# An optimized one for gcc
#CFLAGS = -O3 -DUNX -fomit-frame-pointer
...

So it compiles with the debug flag and no optimization. I then
uncommented the line with the optimization flags, compiled and ran the
same set of data with the same settings as before. This time it took
8:49 minutes or about twice as fast.

[Bug 1432352] [NEW] samtools man pages not up-to-date

2015-03-15 Thread Kumbarov
Public bug reported:

The samtools man page lists several examples of how this utility can be
used. One of the example commands is: 'samtools pileup -vcf ref.fasta
aln.sorted.bam' However the 'pileup' option in this version of samtools
is removed in favor of 'mpileup'. More over the -v and -c switches are
not applicable for option 'mpileup':

$ samtools pileup -vcf ref.fasta foo.sorted.bam
[main] The `pileup' command has been removed. Please use `mpileup' instead.

$ samtools mpileup -vcf ref.fasta foo.sorted.bam  foo.vcf
mpileup: invalid option -- 'v'
mpileup: invalid option -- 'c'
[mpileup] 1 samples in 1 input files
mpileup Set max per-file depth to 8000

There might be more bugs in the documentation.

I am experiencing the same problem in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with gramps 4.0.3

to see these error messages.

[Bug 875195] Re: Screen is very dim after turning on Laptop

2013-04-20 Thread Kumbarov
I have an ASUS UL30A laptop with Intel® GMA X4500MHD graphics card and I
have had this problem ever since I started using Ubuntu (10.04). Now I
run 12.04 and the problem persists. I have tried everything but nothing
works except going to Brightness and Lock, decreasing Brightness to
the minimum and then increasing it again. I have to do this everytime I
log in or after unlocking the screen.

By the way I don't have Dim screen to save power checked, Turn screen
off when inactive for is set to Never and Lock is OFF but never
the less the screen dims and locks. So neither of the options on the
Brightness and Lock works for me.
