The problem come from old version on the usb disk. Unetbootin didn't delete the old version and override it with new version. The ibus icon will appear after login with a few seconds delay. I have change the GUI language to Vietnamese and use ibus-unikey with. Nothing crash after active ibus. After login i can't see the ibus icon on the tray bar. The probability of this bug is 50 percent. I do 10 login and logout, just 5 of login show up with ibus icon. To make ibus icon (indicator) show on. I must to kill ibus-daemon and run it again. With ibus-daemon -x -d i could type in skype, but without -x parameter I couldn't. (or just run ibus-daemon -rxd) What I can do to test this bug. I've allready checked the translate string in Launchpad and strings -eS /usr/share/locale-langpack/vi/LC_MESSAGES/evolution-indicator.mo The bug effect when i setup a new account with Set Up Mail Then there is no translation for Compose New Email or Contacts if I haven't started the Evolution yet. Even when I click to the Compose New Email, But when I clicked to Contacts or Thư điện tử then the Evolution will start, and these String will change to Vietnamese. This bug is not from translation, it's from the application itself. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm I have this bug on both my computer and my laptop. This effect me scine Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 alpha to now Beta 2 with all upgrade. Steps to reproduce: 1. Login to user A. 2. Choose switch user from User A. 3. Login to user B. 4. Logout from user B. After that the screen just go blank. The music from Rhythmbox of user A still playing, I can't swith to tty1 (by ctrl + alt + F1), but I can use the Magic SysRq key to reboot the system. In my laptop it's usally happen, it rarely happen but exist in my computer. I think this bug is very critical because I need to use many user for testing application and translation of ubuntu. There aren't any logs in my computer (except something about Pulse before the crash). @anakin: I also have a dv3. Ubuntu 9.10 . The sound didn't work well. My Output of hardware is the same of you. I did some trick but i hadn't worked. I also install a lot of thing pavu ... I kept my Laptop up-to-date then Finally I do the same as you. sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf # then I added the following lines at the end of the file and REBOOTED! options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5 options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1 And then reboot. Miraculously, the sound work perfectly not only via headphone but also via Laptop's speaker. I think that the dv5 (I got one) and dv3 (from my friend) have the same configure in alsa. But when intall Ubuntu it can not detected the laptop model (dv3). My problem is difference. I use 1 home partition for 9.04 and 9.10. I couldn't use Intenal Microphone in 9.10 but in 9.04 I could. After that I found that the 2.6.32 kernel (from Ubuntu). I came back to 2.6.31 and i work perfectly. There is a mystery, sometime i could record from Pulse. when i'm listen to music, it record exactly what i'm heard (when the sound is muted, it stop). It feature like what you heard Function from Windows.
