This happened after upgrade to 13.10.
After login I got back screen, therefore I reinstalled nvidia drivers and xorg. 
Tryed log in into gnome without any problems. When logged into unity got first 
"permission denied" pop up without any further message and then this crash 
report was generated.

settings menius at least the clock is visible. I guess this should help
to narrow down the problem.

what kind of information you need? I have machine park which is affected. The 
crash is every time we update them. This is really annoying and creates 
unnecessary work...

The afs is working, when manualy started as I stated previosly. However
every update is givving same error messege.

Hi,

I have reported bug 996394.
Moreover, now openafs is not accessible. When trying to run aklog (after kinit) 
the following error is displayed
aklog: a pioctl failed while obtaining tokens for cell xxx.

This has broken all my ubuntu masines. And is urgent to get the problem
resolved!

Here is some more infor, when I was trying to solev the problem
I removed the open-afs packet
then run apt-get autoremove
reinstalled open-afs . 
sudo apt-get install openafs-client

Same problem appeared in 11.04 somewhere in latest updates. More ever
the totem was running at 100% CPU. the upstart was random and I had to
uninstall it because my laptop was going way to hot because of it.

I actually stopped using upgrade manager and do it from terminal. Just
tried to use it and I when clicked on the upgrade button nothing
happened it does not respond.

Due to suspend problems in previous kernel I am using pre-release
repositories.
