[Bug 1062566] [NEW] running ubuntu 12.04; computer crashes after boot

2012-10-05 Thread Leo Newburn
Public bug reported:

I have tried various ubuntu and lubuntu versions with this same problem
that occurs right after bootup:

Computer crashes (locks up; freezes). I have to reboot by using the
power off button. Then, the only way I can boot into ubuntu is by first
going through the recovery mode option from the boot options screen.

What usually allows me to boot into ubuntu, use programs, and go onto
the internet is, in recovery mode, I first choose fsck; then dpkg;
then resume normal boot. Then instead of logging onto ubuntu (username
and password), I click the shutdown button on the lower right side of
the screen and choose reboot.

I then let the computer reoot into the loginn screen on my desktop. This
works sometimes, but frequentl crashes again.

I run ubuntu 12.04 LTS ,LXDE desktop. As I stated, I've tried several
different distros, with the same problem re-occurring.

I've asked this same question on Launchpad.net several times with no
fix, and eventually staff on Launchpad.net expires my question (after
not responding for awhile).

Please help and/or direct me to the proper website to fix this problem.
I'm not even sure if I am on the correct website here to fix my problem.

[Bug 915752] Re: Computer freezes, forcing restart in recovery mode to avoid crash again.

2012-07-03 Thread Leo Newburn
What does this status change mean? What should I do now? I'm thinking
maybe I should retro back to Lubuntu 11.10, but I'm not sure how to do
that.

An additional note here; it may be helpful to troubleshooting staff: I
still have the same crash problem even if I use Chrome browser instead
of Firefox.

[Bug 990931] Re: Thunderbird is being blocked by apparmor from Firefox

2012-06-14 Thread Leo Newburn
I ended up being directed here, why I don't know, by a dialogue box
which appeared when I did my usual updating through the Update Manager.
It said something like ...go to [here] until it is available through
Update Manager.

[Bug 915752] [NEW] Computer freezes, forcing restart in recovery mode to avoid crash again.

2012-01-12 Thread Leo Newburn
Public bug reported:

Frequently, when I bootup and then go online when I click any link on
the browser screen, Firefox stops, and also my computer locks up. Then I
reboot into recovery mode, and choose fix broken packages (dpkg). Then
I can browse ok for awile, then it frequently crashes again, forcing me
to again going into recovery mode for a temporary fix.
