[Bug 699871] [NEW] Sync cmake 2.8.3-3 (main) from Debian experimental (main)

2011-01-07 Thread Leon Nardella
Public bug reported:

Please sync cmake 2.8.3-3 (main) from Debian experimental (main)

Changelog entries since current natty version 2.8.3-1:

cmake (2.8.3-3) experimental; urgency=low

  * Install documentation to /usr/share/cmake-data instead as it's the base
package rather than cmake. Also link doc directories to it.
  * The job of replacing directories with symlinks apparently is a tough one.
Create a symlink manually in the postinst of the affected (!cmake-data)
packages.

 -- Modestas Vainius mo...@debian.org Sun, 02 Jan 2011 14:10:18 +0200

cmake (2.8.3-2) experimental; urgency=low

  [ Kai Wasserbäch ]
  * debian/source/local-options: Added unapply-patches.
  * debian/watch: Added git-import-orig invocation.
  * debian/gbp.conf: Added, to ensure we use pristine-tar.
  * debian/patches/FindTCL_fix_#600245.diff: Added. (Closes: #600245)

  [ Modestas Vainius ]
  * Install cmake documentation into /usr/share/doc/cmake/ and link doc
directories of the rest binary packages to it (needs debhelper 7.4.2).
(LP: #669197)
  * Backport a patch from 2.8.4 to fix ASM support. Thanks to Leon Nardella for
heads up. (Closes: #608510, LP: #695335)

[Bug 636311] Re: Keyboard special keys interfere with mouse

2010-11-29 Thread Leon Nardella
I have been using the aubergine packages since they were released and
had been facing the (0,0) cursor move issue on first use ever since.

Out of curiosity, I installed ppa-purge this morning and proceeded to purge the
aubergine PPA.
Four packages were downgraded: xserver-common xserver-xephyr xserver-xorg-core
xserver-xorg-input-evdev.

The first 3 packages are built from the xorg-server source package and
the last one is built from the xserver-xorg-input-evdev source package.

I took a look on both packages' changelog and, even though none has
been modified since even before Maverick's release date, both the
original issue of the special keys interfering with the mouse and the
(0,0) cursor move glitch are gone now!

Really not sure what fixed those issues and not sure either if they're
fixed on a fresh installation either.

[Bug 654892] [NEW] Menu option to extract tar.lzo file doesn't appear anymore

2010-10-04 Thread Leon Nardella
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file-roller

I just installed Maverick from RC iso, on amd64 and am fully updated.

Installed lzop in order to recover my data backuped in a tar.lzo file,
but that option doesn't appear anymore when I right-click the backup
file.

File-roller itself can open the file successfully when I try it
manually.

I guess this is just some hook missing either in the file-roller or lzop
package, but I don't know how to fix it myself.

[Bug 371102] Re: Banshee crashes a few seconds into any song while playing back an audio CD

2009-05-13 Thread Leon Nardella
I figure I should have said this on the report too, oh well..

No, it's not a disc and not drive problem. I've tried several discs and
all working flawlessly in Rhythmbox, which is what I have always used,
by the way.

Just recently I came to know about a proprosal to have Banshee as
default in Karmic and I figured I should give it a try and since then I
haven't been able to play a single CD track sucessfully. :P

I should also mention that updating both Mono and Banshee to their
latest versions avaiable in the PPAs doesn't send the problem away
either.

2009-05-02 Thread Leon Nardella
Public bug reported:

I'm on Jaunty, fully updated, and just installed Banshee through apt-get.
Itcrashes a few seconds into any song while playing back an audio CD, showing a
dialog about broken pipes and the following text output. After I click OK in
the dialog, it hangs for a few seconds and crashes.

[Bug 330824] Re: Soft lockups (freezes) when deleting files from ext4 partitions on 2.6.28

2009-04-15 Thread Leon Nardella
@Theodore Ts'o
I can consistently reproduce this bug on my Acer Aspire One AOA150, which also
has an Atom N270 plus 1GB of RAM and a 120GB SATA HD.

It happens even on a clean install of Jaunty, as well as on a fully updated
install, with more than 100GB of HD free.
I can reliably trigger this bug by 'rm -rf'ing the LLVM+GCC+CLANG after I build
them.

You asked about other allocations ocorruring when the bug is triggered.
I think the only other thing I was running during these lockups was
Firefox plus a few extensions (NoScript, AdBlock Plus, DownloadThemAll
), but I can trigger these lockups even when I log in through Ubuntu's
recovery menu on boot up ( which, I guess, has the absolute minimum of
processes running in the background ).

I also should mention that kernel 2.6.29 ( from http://kernel.ubuntu.com
/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.29.1/ ) seems to have fixed this bug for me.

2- When I'm reproducing this bug per the instructions in the bug report, the
last process (from 'top') is 'rm'.

[Bug 353451] Re: System freezes when doing heavy IO in Jaunty with ext4

2009-04-03 Thread Leon Nardella
So... I've been doing some tests and it seems kernel
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.29.1/linux-
image-2.6.29-02062901-generic_2.6.29-02062901_i386.deb fixes this bug.

I'd greatly appreciate if other people encountering this bug could test
that kernel and report how it goes.

[Bug 353451] [NEW] System freezes when doing heavy IO in Jaunty with ext4

2009-04-01 Thread Leon Nardella
Public bug reported:

I am experiencing frequent lock-ups/hangs/freezes with the Jaunty Desktop Beta
version, using ext4.
Every now and then it'll freeze, no matter if I just booted or if I've been
logged in for 5 hours.
I have experimented a lot of things to trigger these freezes what I could come
up with was:

1- Install Jaunty Desktop Beta
2- Install svn ++ build-essentials
3- Check out llvm's trunk
3- ( Usually in llvm/tools ) Check out clang's trunk
4- ( Usually in llvm/tools ) Check out llvm-gcc' trunk
5- Build it ( ./configure --enable-optimized )
6- Delete llvm's folder ( rm -rf llvm/ )

Although this procedure will take a lot of time, it consistently triggers the
freeze on my system.
After de first freeze, it'll sometimes freeze again if you do a 'make clean' in
llvm's folder or you try to svn update.

I'd like to reinforce that this is reproducible without installing any other
packages or updates (although it will keep on freezing even on a fully updated
system).

I checked some logs in /var/logs and couldn't really find anything
suspicious.

I'm eager to hear back from you guys and expecting more instructions
what I can do to help.

( I'm usually hanging around in #ubuntu and can test whatever is needed
)

[Bug 319825] Re: acer_wmi in Jaunty on Aspire One exposes non-functional (always disabled) rfkill device

2009-03-28 Thread Leon Nardella
I managed to get LEDs to work by doing the following:

1- Doing all updates ( I have Proposed enabled ) which overrides Andy's kernel,
breaking wireless again.
2- Reinstall linux-backports-modules-jaunty
3- Reinstall Andy's kernel.

I'm not sure whether it's really needed, but I reboot after each step.

@Attila
From my experience, the latest kernel ( which I guess comes from Proposed )
still breaks wifi for me.

@Andy
When can we expect your fixes to be uploaded to Proposed?

[Bug 290991] Re: [intrepid] ath5k linux-backports-modules crash

2008-12-25 Thread Leon Nardella
This bug seems to be fixed on my Acer Aspire One on Intrepid's kernel 2.6.27-11.
I've done several reboots since yesterday and the wireless network is being
picked and working just as expected.

The only issue I had was that I lost any wireless connectivity after
upgrading the kernel, since the respective backports modules weren't
installed.

I wonder whether it's the expected behavior or it should be installed
automatically.

All in all, congrats!

[Bug 119561] Re: Not getting full screen resolution

2008-12-16 Thread Leon Nardella
I just installed Intrepid on a SIS 661fx system I can't get it to run at any
resolution above 800x600
Both the Screen Resolution application Xrandr won't find the native monitor
mode ( 1024x768 @ 60 ) and, despite being able to add such mode through Xrandr,
I can't switch to it.

I don't really know what kind of information is needed to investigate
this, but I'll hastily help contributing any logs.

PS: This happens both on kernel 2.6.27-7 and 2.6.27-10, and I think it
worked well during the Intrepid Alphas, but I can't confirm this right
now.

[Bug 272606] Re: ABNT2 Numpad Keyboard keys misbehaving

2008-11-17 Thread Leon Nardella
This bug is actually almost 2 months old already.

Regarding your doubt, version 4.1 was supposed to fix this, but it didn't.
If you downgrade to version 4, Update Manager will tell you there's an update,
since the 4.1 package wasn't dropped off the repository.

You just have to keep ignoring version 4.1 until there's a proper fix
released.

2008-11-15 Thread Leon Nardella
I just installed Intrepid on a Dell Latitude 120L laptop with ABNT2
keyboard, so I have only one 'dot' key, which I guess maps to the
regular dot key on standard keyboards, and I can confirm that the 'dot'
inputs a comma with xkb-data-1.3-2ubuntu4.1.

The 'solution' for the time being seems to be downgrading to xkb-
data-1.3-2ubuntu4.

I'm waiting for a better solution and willing to help with testing, if
needed.
