[Bug 273490] Re: Totem-plugin-viewer shows visual effects even disabled.
I do not understand why gnome-bugs #542491 is marked as fixed. They "fixed" the bug by having the plugin disable visual effects if the widget size is under 150 pixels. It is sensible to disable visual effects for a widget under 150 pixels, but it does not fix the bug when there still is no option to disable visual effects at will. I think this bug should be reopened. Here, as well as in gnome-bugs. Workaround is to right click and select "open in movieplayer". Alternatively, if the totem plugin is playing "full-screen" in the browser, then you can resize the browser to under 150 pixels tall, the width seems to have no effect. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/273490 Title: Totem-plugin-viewer shows visual effects even disabled. [Bug 487613] Re: "history -c" doesn't clear bash history
i think this bug is invalid. history -c is behaving as intended: it clears the history of the current session. if you want to have the history completely removed then you have to make sure the history file is also cleared. to be really sure you will also have to clear the history of any other running bash sessions. note that there are many different ways to manipulate how bash handles the history in memory and the history file. i recommend to read the bash manual about history. here is the section about the history command http://www.gnu.org/software/bash/manual/html_node/Bash-History-Builtins.html the bash manual is a bit vague about the concept of the history. it should state more clearly that at any given time there are at least two instances of the history: one is the history kept in the memory of the currently running bash session, the other is the history kept in the history file (usually ~/.bash_history or whatever is defined in the variable $HISTFILE). in case of the history command some options manipulate the history file, while the other options (including the option -c) only manipulates the history which is kept in the memory of the currently running session. ** Changed in: bash (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- "history -c" doesn't clear bash history https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/487613 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 289023] Re: Wheel emulation doesn't work after suspend/resume
i too am affected by this bug. i have a thinkpad x40. i made fdi files similar to comment #4. for me this bug doesn't happen at every suspend/resume, it happends about once in five suspen/resume cycles. there is a workaround and maybe also fix for this problem in thinkwiki: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_configure_the_TrackPoint here the text from thinkwiki Scrolling may be disabled after a resume from suspend. You can manually reactivate the trackpoint by reloading the psmouse module as root: # rmmod psmouse && modprobe psmouse You can automatically force the pm-utils to reload this module. i think the original bug report is not a bug because gnome should not read the shell initialization files. gnome (gdm) reads the .profile (see /etc/gdm/Xsession) so any LC_* settings is best put there. see also my anser at https://answers.launchpad.net/questions/60699 -- Locale settings in shell initialization not used by GNOME session https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/306591 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

i tried the 2.6.99.1 driver using the ubuntu 9.04 alpha 4 live cd. i was not able to install the 2.6.99.1 driver under ubuntu 8.10 because of the dependencies. to be exact, i used following command: dpkg -i xserver-xorg-video- intel_2.6.99.1+git20090207.3aa8591a-0ubuntu0tormod2_i386.deb the 2.6.1 driver shipped with the alpha 4 live cd was working fine (although still with the 1024x768 problem). the 2.6.99 driver showed the same problem as in my original report, the entire display showed the color of one pixel. perhaps this is because of the integrated LVDS quirk in the 2.6.1 driver? ** Attachment added: "xorg log from ubuntu 9.04 alpha 4 using intel driver 2.6.1" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/22511892/Xorg.0.log.2.6.1 -- Need LVDSout quirk for 8086:3582 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305269 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 305269] Re: [855gm] entire display shows color of certain pixel
i tried the quirk and now i see a proper image, but first to my system setup. the system is a not a notebook but not a common desktop either. mainboard is a mb890 (link http://www.ibase-i.com.tw/mb890.htm ). the mainboard has three video outputs: VGA, DVI and LVDS. my monitor is connected to the DVI output. monitor is an IBM ThinkVision L200p. other video outputs are not connected to anything, as far as i can tell. my xorg.conf was already a "minimal" xorg.conf (as created by dpkg- reconfigure), so renaming xorg.conf and restarting x didn't change the behaviour. i then tried the quirk and added the LVDS ignore lines in xorg.conf and now i have a proper image, but the resolution is limited to 1024x768. the monitor is able to go up to 1600x1200. should i post a new "Need LVDSout quirk for " bug as suggested in the wiki? i do see a proper image now but the resolution is still not correct. i'm sure it would be possible to force xorg to 1600x1200 using appropriate xorg.conf lines, but it would be better if the driver did it right automatically. -- [855gm] entire display shows color of certain pixel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305269 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
