Yeah I've noticed --initrd does nothing. I have initramfs support
compiled in the kernel though. SO ANNOYING!

[Bug 230954] [NEW] Keyboard won't work at start up

2008-05-15 Thread Linux Is Pure Pwnage
Public bug reported:

Right After my computer starts booting Grub, My mouse and keyboard won't
work until the log on screen. I would like to be able to switch kernels,
fix things, etc etc but my USB keyboard won't work. I use the up and
down arrows and nothing happends, my mouse light turns off, and one time
I had to re-install Ubuntu because it said something about a random
number, hit any key to continue. My keyboard does not work on Ubuntu
7.04 - 8.04 upon Grub.

Specs:
Current Operating System: Ubuntu 8.04
CPU: AMD Athlon 1800+
GPU: nVIDIA 5900XT over-clocked at 395MHz with latest driver
Keyboard: tried several keyboards made by different companies including
Microsoft, GrandTec, Belkin, and inland

I expected for my keyboard to work ever since I started using Ubuntu.

What happened instead was it would basically turn off my keyboard and
mouse right when it hit Grub (and Grub2) and I know this because My
keyboard flashes and stuff right before Grub.

I am not saying this problem is related to the package "Grub" but this
problem is not caused by my BIOS/CMOS settings.

Thank you.

I always get this message first when accessing the volume control via
toolbar:

"The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control.
This means either that you don't have the right GStreamer plugins
installed, or that you don't have a sound card configured.

You can remove the volume control from the panel by right-clicking the
speaker icon on the panel and selecting "Remove From Panel" from the
menu."

then I get this message after the first time:

"No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found."

Now If I go to System > Preferences > Sound and I select autodetect, or
ALSA, or OSS, or any of the options it gives me it always says this when
I try testing for audio:

"audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample !
gconfaudiosink: Could not open audio device for playback."

My sound card is working fine because it always worked on Ubuntu 7.04
and 7.10 but ever since 8.04 I have been having a lot of problems.

I do not know exactly what audio card I have but I would like to find
out so I can tell you what it is to fix this bug.

I can repeat the bug an infinite amount of times.

Thank you.

[Bug 222277] Re: Firefox 3 beta 5 crashes badly (kills x session) on a specific web page in ubuntu 8.04

2008-04-25 Thread Linux Is Pure Pwnage
I visited the web page and received no problems. You are running an i686
but I am running an i386 so I am guessing that has something to do with
it maybe. You are using a 32 bit. I am using an x86 machine. Might help
the developers out. ;)

[Bug 222253] Re: Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Kernel does not support VIA C3 CPU

2008-04-25 Thread Linux Is Pure Pwnage
The VIA C3 is the one with all the security features right? I used to
have that CPU for a long time and I never had a problem with it. I think
you are right about the low power being a problem. On the official
website for the VIA C3 it says it is run on low power. I really don't
have any suggestions or things that might help your situation but I did
have an experience with the VIA C3.

[Bug 222255] [NEW] Dual Monitors on Ubuntu 8.04

2008-04-25 Thread Linux Is Pure Pwnage
Public bug reported:

I am using an nVIDIA 5900XT GPU Graphics card, Ubuntu 8.04 Full release
and I cannot get the dual monitors configured properly. The monitor on
the right is perfectly fine but my Hitachi SuperScan Pro 800 (CM800 I
think Ubuntu calls it) isn't working. It flashes these weird colors and
it looks nothing like it should. On the top left on my right monitor I
see a flashing underscore and flickering different colors. It looks
extremely distorted and not what it should be doing at all. The nVIDIA
new driver is not working either. I can access the internet fine but I
think the Ubuntu servers are down because I cannot update or install new
packages. Firefox 3 Beta 5 works fine though. Any suggestions?

[Bug 181779] nVIDIA 5900XT Driver Dual Monitor Problem

2008-01-10 Thread Linux Is Pure Pwnage
Public bug reported:

Hello. My nVIDIA graphics driver doesn't work that great. I am using an
nVIDIA GeForce FX 5900XT and the driver isn't working properly. It
sometimes loads in low graphics mode when Ubuntu 7.10 starts up, always
panning and scanning with the correct resolution when not in low
graphics mode, ATi Graphics accelerator does not work for the nVIDIA
5900XT, and the screen saver logs me out or gets very choppy and
freezes. Thank you.
