Unfortunately this already happened with arm64 where I requested removal
of the binary architecture, and now probably due to the llvm switch the
ppc64el has started to fail.

Please remove ppc64el from the archive in bionic, I don't want to
support such architecture in an LTS release lifespan! thanks

Hello, installing the guest-source package has zero effect, unless you
manually build the kernel module with module-assistant.

I don't understand why this upgrade broke your installation, you can take the
previous binaries from here
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox-hwe/5.0.40-dfsg-0ubuntu1.16.04.1~16.04.4

or upgrade to bionic and tell if something is broken there :)

ack here, but sorry if I made this false assumption. the mean of that
sentence was not "don't care because internet is broken or evil",
but more a "hey, such vulnerabilities exists in probably *all* irc clients,
including hexchat and others, at least in stable releases. You can do fuzzy
testing against the versions to check them.

So, while I *always* fixed CVEs on my packages, I also think we should focus
more to real bugs, not something discovered by a fuzzy test, that affects
probably
most irc clients, with an userbase really low, and with a crash as effect and
not
a personal data leak or similar.

My assumption was just to mention that a "crash" for a vulnerability is
something
we might really like at the end :)

it is, but new features breaks it from time to time (eg. 1.14.0 vs 1.14.1, the
latter
has been pushed because of the previous one not being suitable for usage),
moreover
we still don't have a clean upgrade path from xchat to hexchat, at least for
configuration files.

People might want to keep it, until we smoothly upgrade them and move around
configuration.
(this is something somewhat slowly ongoing=

[Bug 1758946] Re: virtualbox-guest-utils update caused Synaptic to stop working

2018-03-31 Thread LocutusOfBorg via ubuntu-bugs
Sorry but if that line has *never* been "true".

If it is that way (I don't want to say otherwise, because I can't check
mint), this is a change that comes from mint developers, something I'm
really not interested at all, unless they come to me asking to
integrate/fix something.

Feel free to complain to them, asking why they diverged from my
packaging without sending bug reports or complains.

for sure, my upload increased the version, so maybe you got your package
upgraded because of this

In any case nothing I can fix without rationale for the change or a bug
report, closing.

 Assignee: (unassigned) => LocutusOfBorg (costamagnagianfranco)

** Description changed:

+ [Test Case]
+ * Vagrant needs to work with the major jump we did for vbox in ubuntu
+
+ [Regression Potential]

work again (because of version mismatch)

After Virtualbox packages were upgraded to version 5.1.34 in order to fix and

So, at the end we had zero bad reports, and tomorrow will be 10 days

consider the first upload in ppa and -proposed).

Nobody complained so far, the only bug I got, is unrelated to this
upload, and affecting NVIDIA people (LP: #1751191).

This should be safe to go, if it matches Release Team migration

unrelated changes, lets auto-close this bug in 59 days unless it happens
again (I retried the failed tests a few seconds ago)

(right now it is at the same version as the normal virtualbox one

[Bug 1757024] Re: Sync libinput 1.10.3-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2018-03-20 Thread LocutusOfBorg via ubuntu-bugs
Considering that the package has been in unstable for 5 days already
(the RC bug is fixed and not a code bug, but rather a packaging one).

the only new bug is:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=892916

and this is probably not worth a nack because of the ton of other fixes
