I do not remember exactly what it said but it was something like ' /usr/X11R6/bin is not empty and the installation will fail now. Remove the contents of /usr/X11R6/ bin and retry the installation.' I moved the files hamsoft and w9wm out of /usr/X11R6/bin and then clicked the button to have it move to the next step. It executed a few more steps and then this next error came up. I used jockey to select the 177 driver, then rebooted. On boot I got the low-res X with warning saying it failed to start up. I went to a console and copied over the files, then restored the default xorg.conf. Let me know if there is anything else I can tell you or try. I used jockey to select the 177 driver, then rebooted. On boot I got the low-res X with warning saying it failed to start up. I went to a console and copied over the files, then restored the default xorg.conf. Let me know if there is anything else I can tell you or try. The card works fine under windows, and ubuntu 8.04. I'm guessing it's a regression in the kernel, X.org or the nvidia driver.
