Always me. Just tried with another pc and, again, screen goes black. This time is again a dell but with an ati video card so, I guess, it does not depends upon video card. Pc is a DELL OPTIPLEX 740. I can assure this because I'm so luck that I have three computer in my house and I tried my usb wifi dongle with everyone. Look at the table ComputerUsb Ubuntu versionWorks? p5gd1-pro Mobo 2.0 7.04 Yes hp Omnibook 6100 1.1 7.04 No hp Omnibook XE3 1.1 6.10 Yes I also tried to start hp 6100 with Ubuntu 6.10 and, still, the dongle proudly works, Notice that XE3 is far older than 6100 (which is old too ;) ). I guess that something has changed in worse from 6.10 to 7.04. Sadly, wifi dongle works fine if hp6100 is booted in the w.s partition. Hi! I also tried to plug the dongle with a 7.10 "tribe 5" started from cdrom. Result is the same, both with omnibook 6100 and XE3. Didn't had the time to test with my good desktop but I gues it will work. I'll do as soon as I'll be back home. Unfortunately, I don't dispose of a recent laptop with usb 2.0 to test upon. Adding a clue :D If I install wammu from mainstream it works since it brings down some older version of gammu and wammu. If the same is done from PPA wammu release is the last, but gammu is not. I can assure this because I'm so luck that I have three computer in my house and I tried my usb wifi dongle with everyone. Look at the table ComputerUsb Ubuntu versionWorks? p5gd1-pro Mobo 2.0 7.04 Yes hp Omnibook 6100 1.1 7.04 No hp Omnibook XE3 1.1 6.10 Yes I also tried to start hp 6100 with Ubuntu 6.10 and, still, the dongle proudly works, Notice that XE3 is far older than 6100 (which is old too ;) ). I guess that something has changed in worse from 6.10 to 7.04. Sadly, wifi dongle works fine if hp6100 is booted in the w.s partition. Restart is possible using RSEIUB. Booting with 2.6.27-12 works fine. I'll start attaching both "messages" and "xorg.log" for 2.6.27-12 and 13. Suffix of the file designate the kernel that was used. Always me. Just tried with another pc and, again, screen goes black. This time is again a dell but with an ati video card so, I guess, it does not depends upon video card. Pc is a DELL OPTIPLEX 740. Good morning, guys. It's seems that this incident happens only with 7.04 and 7.10 distros along with usb 1.1 port. I can assure this because I'm so luck that I have three computer in my house and I tried my usb wifi dongle with everyone. Look at the table ComputerUsb Ubuntu versionWorks? p5gd1-pro Mobo 2.0 7.04 Yes hp Omnibook 6100 1.1 7.04 No hp Omnibook XE3 1.1 6.10 Yes I also tried to start hp 6100 with Ubuntu 6.10 and, still, the dongle proudly works, Notice that XE3 is far older than 6100 (which is old too ;) ). I guess that something has changed in worse from 6.10 to 7.04. Sadly, wifi dongle works fine if hp6100 is booted in the w.s partition. Hi! I also tried to plug the dongle with a 7.10 "tribe 5" started from cdrom. Result is the same, both with omnibook 6100 and XE3.
