[Bug 1289996] Re: 14e4:4727 [Asus 1225B] echo 1 > /proc/brcm_monitor0 returns Input/output error
Ah. Sorry. I've been following this error since March, as it is exactly the same fault that I have, and I suspect that they are failures in the **general** code. I've written about a possible solution (see above), it no longer works in later versions of the kernel ... Not detracting from the work of others, but rather in the __general__ code (ubuntu patches? Upstream?) Is wrong, and that I have tested and exposed here. The work-around has worked for me and worked some more we follow the error. We do not share the same hardware model. If that is indeed something unique, hardware-specific Asus 1225B and I have to send another bug report for my Broadcom card, I understand and I will send another bug report. [Bug 1289996] Re: echo 1 > /proc/brcm_monitor0 returns Input/output error
I found a solution for this error: take the source, replace buggy Ubuntu patch (0009-add-support-for-linux-3.10.0.patch) with patch from ArchLinux AUR. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Download driver source (6.30.223.141) from Broadcom 2. DO NOT APPLY LINUX 3.10 UBUNTU PATCH. Apply http://ix.io/9DV patch only. 3. Compile the driver. make 4. Testing the driver. sudo rmmod wl ; sudo insmod ./wl.ko 5. Enable monitor mode. sudo bash -c "echo 1 > /proc/brcm_monitor0" 6. Test monitor prism0 device. sudo airodump-ng prism0 Works for me. [Bug 865389] Re: Appmenu-gtk should not blacklist eclipse
I had to give up patching libappmenu.so because since Eclipse 4.2 (4.3 also) crashes constantly when using appmenu. It works well while it is up and running, but suddenly it crashes silently. With the patch (that is, without Eclipse being blacklisted) Eclipse crashes, say, 10 times in a work day. Without the patch it runs fine for hours. So, there is something new on the 4.X platform that doesn't plays nicely with appmenu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/865389 Title: Appmenu-gtk should not blacklist eclipse To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/appmenu-gtk/+bug/865389/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1046608] Re: Genius webcam do not work in Ubuntu 12.04
SOLVED! HowTo repair: 1. download latest gspca drivers (e.g. http://moinejf.free.fr) 2. apply this patch included on comment 3. compile: make; make install 4. replug the webcam 5. done!! I have experienced and found the patch reading the "solutions" for gspca very old drivers. This Sonix chip (0c45:6027) works identically to (0c45:6019, Generic Sonix OV7630). The patch is very simple and only force sonixb to try to treat Genius Eye as Sonix OV7630 I am tested on my PC and works! ** Patch added: "Patch include support from sonixb module. [Bug 1019654] [NEW] Notifcation bubbles are not positioned correctly when the secondary monitor is wider and below than the primary monitor
Public bug reported: I have a setup where notifications are shown in a LCD monitor with a resolution of 1280x1024, and the laptop monitor (of 1366x768) is positioned below it. [Bug 865389] Re: Appmenu-gtk should not blacklist eclipse
I've been using the trick in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdbusmenu/+bug/618587/comments/46 to edit the binary file, changing 'Eclipse' to something else for several weeks. I can confirm that the menu works, but there is the issue that most shorcut sequences are not displayed on the corresponding menu items, but the shortcuts do work. I prefer having the consistent menu bar without shortcuts (working with HUD) than have 100% correct menu representation but inconsistent with other applications. Unrelated: I always install lo-menubar to have the global menu in libreoffice too, even if some shortcuts don't work, in favor of greater consistency. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/865389 Title: Appmenu-gtk should not blacklist eclipse To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/appmenu-gtk/+bug/865389/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 966701] [NEW] Window decoration background and buttons should look exactly the same as the panel for maximized windows
Public bug reported: In Unity, the top panel is the window decoration for maximized windows, and should look exactly like the window decoration for non-maximized windows. They have some small differences: * There is a solid background between buttons in non-maximized windows, but not in the panel * The background gradient in non-maximized windows is different from the one on the panel * The button for maximize / restore is a bit different (it may be by design, as they are different states) I'm attaching a picture that shows some of those differences. ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/966701 Title: Window decoration background and buttons should look exactly the same as the panel for maximized windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/966701/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 618587]
For now, it seems that the problem is in libdbusmenu (Unity side). Eclipse is blacklisted in a binary file in libdbusmenu, so the menu is always on the application. There is no friendly way to remove it from the blacklist, but there is a workaround which involves editing the binary file here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdbusmenu/+bug/618587/comments/46 I've reported https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdbusmenu/+bug/890294 to remove Eclipse from the blacklist, but no one did it so far. I think the best way to help here is to test the workaround with all menu functions and insist on that last bug report I've mentioned, maybe even sending a patch for it (I think it should be an one-liner). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/618587 Title: eclipse does not work with appmenu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/appmenu-gtk/+bug/618587/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

-- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/613119 Title: Eclipse menu does not render correctly in unity bar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/appmenu-gtk/+bug/613119/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 890294] [NEW] Remove Eclipse from the appmenu blacklist
Public bug reported: Currently, appmenu has a hardcoded blacklist for Eclipse. This was probably done because of previous Eclipse versions. However, with Ubuntu Oneiric and Eclipse Indigo, when removing Eclipse from the blacklist (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdbusmenu/+bug/618587/comments/46) menu works without glitches. So, please, remove the blacklist for Eclipse in appmenu, as the latest versions of both seems to play nicely. [Bug 559039] Re: X Crashes when enabling second monitor
Actually, following Murphy's law, I found the cause minutes after the last post... But, at least I found how to reproduce it :) I use KDE. If I disable compositing (shift+alt+F12), then the second monitor works without being mirrored. With compositing enabled, X crashes, and happens as first reported. On my previous post, the battery was low, so KDE disabled the effects. As a result, I thought it could be related to resolution. But actually, it's related to the desktop effects being enabled or disabled. Now, the real question: is this a limitation of the intel hardware / driver of not being able to handle dual head with compositing or is this a bug? Could someone using gnome test whether dual head works with compiz (desktop effects) enabled? -- X Crashes when enabling second monitor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/559039 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

As there are some new updates, I'll try again connecting with the 1680x1050 monitor, but I'll only be at that place tomorrow, and will report here the result. -- X Crashes when enabling second monitor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/559039 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 559039] Re: X Crashes when enabling second monitor
Maybe a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/73 ? I have the same "Fatal server error: Failed to submit batchbuffer: Input/output error" in my Xserver.0.log... -- X Crashes when enabling second monitor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/559039 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 559039] Re: X Crashes when enabling second monitor
Happens for me too. If I plug the external monitor and set the netbook lcd to mirror the external monitor, things work ok. However, if I set it to be on the left side of the external monitor, x crashes. Using kubuntu lucid with all updates, on a netbook with an intel video (00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)) After that crash, I'm set to 800x600, and if I try to restore the native 1024x800 resolution, X server crashes again. I'm attaching the dmesg, lspci, lshw and Xserver.0.log files. ** Attachment added: "Contains outputs for dmesg, lspci, lshw and Xserver.0.log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/43575146/logs.tar -- X Crashes when enabling second monitor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/559039 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 519641] Re: gdm/x fails to start with error "Broken Pipe" at boot in Xubuntu
I have this on Kubuntu also. I can't see the bootsplash on startup, only on shutdown. However, KDM starts fine and I'm able to boot. Currently, the problem is just aesthetic. -- gdm/x fails to start with error "Broken Pipe" at boot in Xubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/519641 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 504583] Re: Touchpad On/Off hotkey ACPI event not translated to an input event on ASUS A6Rp
I think my problem is the same as this. I have a netbook which is reported as H80CH model (using dmesg | grep asus) in Kubuntu Lucid (beta 1), and for me, the hotkey event is: hotkey HOTK 006a. The event is catched by /etc/acpi/events/asus-touchpad by the following line: event=hotkey (ATKD|HOTK) (006[ab]|0037) However, I saw the /etc/acpi/asus-touchpad.sh script was not handling my touchpad, as it's an Alps, not Synaptics. I had to rename that script and use this as a replacement: #!/bin/bash [ -f /usr/share/acpi-support/state-funcs ] || exit 0 . /usr/share/acpi-support/power-funcs getXconsole DEVICE="AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint" PROPERTY="Device Enabled" QUERY=`xinput list-props "$DEVICE" | grep "$PROPERTY"` VALUE=${QUERY#*:} if [ $VALUE == "1" ]; then xinput set-int-prop "AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint" "Device Enabled" 8 0; else xinput set-int-prop "AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint" "Device Enabled" 8 1; fi exit 0 So, I think that the bug is the acpi event handler. Ah, I also had to add the acpid service to start on boot: update-rc.d acpid defaults -- Touchpad On/Off hotkey ACPI event not translated to an input event on ASUS A6Rp https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/504583 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 544203] Re: pt-br firefox translation not included in lucid
Found it too. The workaround is to install the following addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/pt-BR/firefox/addon/4851 But this should not be necessary, as most basic users won't know how to do it, and Brazilian Portuguese is WAY different from Portugal. Please, fix it before lucid final. -- pt-br firefox translation not included in lucid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/544203 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I had posted on forum back in august: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8334343 My board is a P5VD2-X.
