[Bug 1528140] Re: USB hub stops working after upgrade

2016-01-07 Thread Luis Henriques
Before starting the bisect, I would like to propose to test kernel I've
uploaded here:

http://people.canonical.com/~henrix/lp1528140/v1/

It is simply kernel 3.13.0-74.118 with upstream commit e210c422b6fd
("xhci: don't finish a TD if we get a short transfer event mid TD")
reverted. This commit is known to have caused regressions and could be
the issue here. Could you please see if it solves this bug and report
back?

[Bug 1528359] Re: Vivid update to 3.19.8-ckt12 stable release

2016-01-06 Thread Luis Henriques
** Description changed:

  SRU Justification

  Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from Linus' tree or in a minimally
backported form of that patch. The 3.19.8-ckt12 upstream stable
patch set is now available. It should be included in the Ubuntu
     kernel as well.

     git://kernel.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/linux.git

[Bug 1530842] [NEW] Precise update to 3.2.75 stable release

2016-01-04 Thread Luis Henriques
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from Linus' tree or in a minimally
backported form of that patch. The 3.2.75 upstream stable
patch set is now available. It should be included in the Ubuntu
   kernel as well.

[Bug 1526820] [NEW] Trusty update to 3.16.7-ckt21 stable release

2015-12-16 Thread Luis Henriques
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from Linus' tree or in a minimally
backported form of that patch. The 3.16.7-ckt21 upstream stable
patch set is now available. It should be included in the Ubuntu
   kernel as well.

   git://kernel.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/linux.git

TEST CASE: TBD

The following patches are in the 3.16.7-ckt21 stable release:

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Invalid

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu Trusty)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1524698] [NEW] Wily update to 4.2.7 stable release

2015-12-10 Thread Luis Henriques
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream

backported form of that patch. The 4.2.7 upstream stable
patch set is now available. It should be included in the Ubuntu
   kernel as well.

[Bug 1523000] Re: writing files larger than 2GB to overlayfs fails

2015-12-06 Thread Luis Henriques
The lts-vivid kernel 3.19.0-40.45 (which should be in -proposed soon)
already includes this fix as this commit was tagged for stable >= 3.18.

** Tags added: kernel-bug-break-fix

** Description changed:

There's simply a missing flag, which was fixed here:

https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git/commit/?id=0480334

The patch claims it requires kernel 3.18+, but the overlayfs code in
ubuntu's 3.16 kernel is already backported from later kernel revs.

[Bug 1523155] Re: [regression] 3.13.0-72.115 unable to boot with root FS under LUKS

2015-12-06 Thread Luis Henriques
I suspect this could be a duplicate of bug #1522766. Could you please
try 3.13.0-73.116? It should be copied into -proposed soon, but for now
it's only available in the kernel team PPA. You can download the .deb
files here:

https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-
team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/8393136

You'll need to install (at least):
linux-image-3.13.0-73-generic_3.13.0-73.116_amd64.deb
linux-image-extra-3.13.0-73-generic_3.13.0-73.116_amd64.deb

[Bug 1522766] Re: cryptsetup hangs after kernel upgrade to 3.13.0-72.115

2015-12-04 Thread Luis Henriques
Looks like this kernel has a bad backport of upstream commit 2a708cff93f1 ("dm:
fix AB-BA deadlock in __dm_destroy()").
To confirm this, I've uploaded a test kernel with this backport reverted:
