[Bug 602777] [NEW] logitech MX3200 - mouse - wheel and wheel tilting sends KEYCODES (left, scroll lock, right)

2010-07-07 Thread Lukáš Vacek
Public bug reported:

This particular mouse sends keystrokes when wheel is clicked or tilted.
When tilted left it sends LEFT KEY and button press, when wheel is
clicked it emits SCROLL LOCK and middle click and tilting right sends
RIGHT KEY (+button.

When when wheel is tilted the key strokes are also sent in console (no
Xserver running).

[Bug 483455] [NEW] [ghci] HOME, END, DELETE and BACKSPACE keys input garbage instead of being interpreted - libedit-dev missing in ghc6 >=6.10's build-deps

2009-11-15 Thread Lukáš Vacek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ghc6

If you press HOME, END, DELETE or BACKSACE key in ghci prompt garbage
characters are inputed, which is definitely not a desirable behaviour.

You only need to add libedit-dev to build-deps to make ghci interpret
these keys correctly.

see http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/ghc/wiki/Building/Preparation/Linux
and http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/ghc/ticket/2606

I can confirm it really helps:

aptitude install libedit-dev
apt-src install ghc6
cd ghc
dpkg-buildpackage
dpkg -i ../ghc

and the keys work as they are supposed to :-)

thanks!

[Bug 367939] [NEW] Unfortunate "volume control" applet redesign - good usability and look gone

2009-04-27 Thread Lukáš Vacek
Public bug reported:

Volume control in gnome-applets has gone through very unfortunate
redesign regarding both look and usability. It is much harder for a user
to adjust the volume now because it requires moving a pointer in two
directions and the slide is placed further from the icon.

It is not a problem in upstream Gnome, because the applet has been
superseded by pulseaudio based one in gnome-media.

[Bug 298781] Re: qt4-qtconfig does not save font settings

2009-04-26 Thread Lukáš Vacek
Well, it is obviously pretty good thing that "GTK+" QT theme uses the
font settings from GTK.

The problem is that antialiasing properties set by gnome-appearance-
properties are not shared between QT and GTK even if "GTK+" theme. So,
even though GTK+ theme sets the right font, it can look very ugly. When
this is solved, there is no need to "fallback" to trying to change the
font in qtconfig.

btw, this is my ~/.fonts.conf for antialising:grayscale and hinting:full

none

Yes, I can confirm the bug in intrepid.

The "a" problem seems very easy to fix.

btw. another workaround:
1) mount it manually
 mkdir /media/tmp
 mount /dev/sd /media/tmp (e.g. mount /dev/sdb1 /media/tmp)
2) correct the mount point
3) umount/mount using gnome

2008-07-06 Thread Lukáš Vacek
I've noticed the same problem with [Radeon Mobility 7500] [1002:4c57],
compiz doesn't work by default but after setting SKIP_CHECKS=yes it
works without any hardware specific issues.

That 036_blacklist_ati_on_laptop.patch has introduced a bad regression
:-(

It would be also very useful if somebody with the card ATI Radeon Xpress
200M (PCI ID 1002:5955) - which was the reason for the patch in first
place - could test with the newest driver and possible with EXA (as
kostas suggested).

cheers

any sound. If i run swfdec-player in terminal I get

ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:874:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave

so it's probably problem caused by using ALSA directly while a sound

I tried some icon themes and and I've realized that the problem occurs only
with some themes (and Human is one of them). With default gnome theme and tango

I dug a little into freedesktop icon spec and created "not-even-a-workaround":

Hi,
I've got the same problem here and I have to say that it's annoying. But it
doesn't affect only firefox. If I scroll any window with slightly more
complicated content cpu usage goes up to 50% on both of cpus, I use intel

Of course, It's not only about scrolling.

No certain compiz plugin doesn't cause this problem.

Any idea what I can do to find the source of a problem?

Actually, this bug is not compiz problem. It's bug in intel and ati drivers,
thus you have thought it's compiz related.
For intel drivers, relevant bug is

another nice "coincidence" is that suggested solution (adding Option

[Bug 194903] [NEW] [hardy] snd-hda-intel doesn't survive hibernation

2008-03-07 Thread Lukáš Vacek
Public bug reported:

Hi devs,
Many thanks for your work on open-source software! However, I've got a problem.
My hardy box refuses to produce any sound after waking up from hibernation. All
seems fine - mplayer -ao pulse doesn't print any warnings, rhytmbox "plays",
volume control lever can be manipulated - but no sound leaves a sound card.
After reboot, everything works as is supposed to. This excludes wiring problems.

is still there.
After killing pulseaudio, rmmod snd-hda-intel, modprobe snd-hda-intel,

That's why I suppose problem is in alsa kernel modules.

differently rendered only in apps started after update. Obviously, after

[Bug 177492] Re: EXA is balls-achingly slow

2008-03-01 Thread Lukáš Vacek
It looks like patch doesn't force greedy heurestics in 2.2.1 (no info in
Xorg.0.log). I've glanced at code and probably neither
EXA_MIGRATION_GREEDY nor I830_USE_EXA is defined. Or maybe, I've just
screwed up compilation for amd64 ;-)
