[Bug 782326] Re: unity-2d: flickers with xf86-video-fbdev on some machines
According to http://doc.qt.nokia.com/4.7-snapshot/qapplication.html#setGraphicsSystem (thanks to ~persia !) there are four ways to the the garphicssystem to use: * the application commandline -graphicssystem switch This is what I did above. The way I did it seems ugly, and Olivier's method doesn't work flawlessly either. * QApplication::setGraphicsSystem() No idea what that is. *the Qt configure -graphicssystem I am looking for a run time fix to this because I do not want to recompile unity-2d for every image I use * the QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM environment variable This is very promising. ~persia proposed set this via Xsession.d . I added "/etc/X11/Xsession.d/54setupenv" in my rootfs containing export QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native I expected unity-2d-* and any other QT program to be ran with the native graphicssystem after I would restart the Xserver. Unfortunately this is not the case. I investigated manually: From a remote console I started the unity-2d-session , killed unity-2d-launcher and ran it with QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native unity-2d-launcher Still glitchy which means it does not run in native mode. Starting with unity-2d-launcher -graphicssystem native it works flawlessly. (native graphicssystem mode present!) This shows unity-2d-launcher does not seem to parse the QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM environment variable but only the -graphicssystem paramter. This can also be assumed for the other unity-2d programs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/782326 Title: unity-2d: flickers with xf86-video-fbdev on some machines -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hello, You're welcome. Thank you for the attention. Yes I am also using onboard in 10.10 and I also do get the color change on button press. Do you think it would be overzealous to globally add such a function as proposed ? I know it is a very special use case but if you think of the evolving tablet (or other large touchscreen-) devices it may be used broadly soon. I might test it on my device and see if it works well. The problem is I don't have much coding experience and have no idea where to insert it. Where are the lines that make the pressed key go black located ? [Bug 626064] [NEW] onboard: add haptic feedback
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: onboard I am using onboard as input method on a phone with capacitive touchscreen. Since these touchscreens are not very precise it is good to get a firm feedback from the device to know a button was pressed. In windows mobile (stock operating system on this device), a very short vibration pulse will be triggered each time a button on the included on screen keyboard is pressed. [Bug 626062] [NEW] onboard: add mechanism to auto show/hide
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: onboard On devices with small display resolution like WVGA (800x480) it is critical to save as much of the available display space as available. Since it is also important to have large areas to touch when using (capacitive) touchscreen, onboard must be largely scaled in order to be well usable. To solve this conflict it would be nice to include a mechanism in onboard that will scan for the need of an input device (e.g. when cursor appears in a web browser text field) to show onboard in such situations and to hide it once the input procedure is finished. As this could also be useful to users of big display devices but will not be perfect in any case it might be good to add it as an option like 'auto mode' Best regards ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: onboard 0.93.2-0ubuntu1 Uname: Linux 2.6.32.9-38168-g65aefba-dirty armv7l Architecture: armel Date: Mon Jan 11 13:34:56 2010 PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: onboard ** Affects: onboard (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug armel maverick ubuntu-une -- onboard: add mechanism to auto show/hide https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/626062 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
