[Bug 1310652] [NEW] btrfs filesystem contents disappeared after reboot

2014-04-21 Thread Márcio Santos
Public bug reported:

Running a multi disk RAID 1 with btrfs for a while now on a Virtual Lab Server
with Ubuntu 14.04 amd64.
Today, after a clean reboot due to power failure initiated by the NUTS Daemon,
when the system came back online, the filesystem of this specific RAID 1
disappeared.

df -h shows very little disk space used in the RAID 1:
/dev/sdb597G 80M 595G 1% /kvm

ls -las /kvm shows no files:
total 4
4 drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Apr 21 11:26 .
0 drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 186 Apr 14 00:35 ..

btrfs filesystem show /kvm shows that apparently the previous information is
still in the hard drives:
Label: none uuid: 45075b5b-a389-445a-b70e-00a1bfcd313a
Total devices 2 FS bytes used 39.68MiB
devid1 size 298.09GiB used 158.03GiB path /dev/sda
devid2 size 298.09GiB used 158.03GiB path /dev/sdb
Btrfs v3.12

No subvolumes or snapshots exist, since no output is given from btrfs
subvolume list /kvm

Running a scrub on the RAID 1 completes successfully, with no errors found, but
only processes approximatle 80Mb of files:
scrub status for 45075b5b-a389-445a-b70e-00a1bfcd313a
scrub started at Mon Apr 21 15:37:55 2014 and finished after 1
seconds
total bytes scrubbed: 79.36MiB with 0 errors

Running a FS Check on both hard drives reveals no errors:

Tried to perform a restore on one of the hard drives, but no information
was recovered.

Would really appreciate some feedback on this one, could be a really
serious btrfs bug.

Kind regards,

Márcio Santos

[Bug 1242552] [NEW] btrfs filesystem balance device path results in Kernel BUG

2013-10-21 Thread Márcio Santos
Public bug reported:

Added a new device to an existing btrfs volume.
Running a balance operation results in the Kernel BUG attached.
From a few quick Google Searches, it appears to be a know bug with the
specific Kernel Version in use and a patch with the fix should have been added
to 3.11.4.

Kind regards,
Márcio Santos

2013-10-21 Thread Márcio Santos
Already installed the kernel .debs.

Just need to get home and force restart the machine, because the balance
kernel bug stops server from restarting using normal methods. Need to
use finger in button method :)

Will update when tested.

I can confirm that using upstream kernel 3.11.6 allows btrfs filesystem
balance to complete successfully.

[Bug 1054188] [NEW] KVM Virtual Machines go into paused a few seconds after starting up

2012-09-21 Thread Márcio Santos
Public bug reported:

I have a Testing Virtual Machine Host running with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Server x64.

It has been running stable since the day after the release of Ubuntu
12.04 when it was installed.

Today i discovered that all the virtual machines were in a paused state.

When i try to resume them with libvirt resume domain they startup and
go into paused state a few seconds later.

I can't find any errors on libvirt log, domain log or dmesg.

Would appreciate some help debugging and solving the problem.

Is it possible that 5.7GB isn't enough for the hypervisor to work
correctly?

Thanks for the help.

2012-09-21 Thread Márcio Santos
Solved...

Your comment about hard disc space made me wonder if maybe it could be
some problem with the filesystem on the partition.

A quick sudo e2fsck -f /dev/scd1 found some corrupt inodes that were
fixed and the problem went away.

All the virtual machines are running happily again, or so it seems.

Thanks for all your help, Serge.

Kind regards.

[Bug 1001842] Re: No Audio from HDMI After Switching Monitor Off / On

2012-06-06 Thread Márcio Santos
I can indeed confirm that upgrading to AMD Catalyst 12.6 Beta fixed the
problem.

I build the .deb package from the install file using the internal build
process:

sh ./amd-driver-installer-8.98-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/precise
sudo dpkg --install fglrx_8.980-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg --install fglrx-amdcccle_8.980-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb

After restart, the problem no longer occurs.

[Bug 1001842] Re: No Audio from HDMI After Switching Monitor Off / On

2012-05-31 Thread Márcio Santos
I can confirm this bug, but i do not believe it is pulseaudio related.

I am experiencing the exact same problems with a new install of Ubuntu
12.04 Server Edition without pulseaudio, with standard alsa sound,
lightdm and xbmc eden.

I believe the problem is Kernel or AMD Drivers related.

When the TV or Monitor is turned off, i get the following log entries in kernel
log:
HDMI hot plug event: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=0 ELD_Valid=0
HDMI status: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=0 ELD_Valid=0

When the TV is turned back on, no HDMI status is detected to turn the
ELD_Valid=1, so no sound from HDMI.

Removing and re plugging the HDMI cable results in a:
HDMI hot plug event: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=0 ELD_Valid=1
HDMI status: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=1 ELD_Valid=1
And sounds begins flowing again.

Logging out from the XBMC session and logging back on, results in the same
events being logged:
HDMI hot plug event: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=0 ELD_Valid=1
HDMI status: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=1 ELD_Valid=1
And sounds begins flowing again.

I was previously running the same setup with Beta 1 and didn't
experience this problem.

[Bug 452027] [NEW] Karmic Beta Server Install CD freezes on Sun X4140 after Network Configuration

2009-10-15 Thread Márcio Santos
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: debian-installer

Installing Karmic Beta on a Sun X4140.

After network configuration stage on the installer (got an address with
dhcp, selected hostname and timezone) the installer freezes when
detecting hdd.

The problem appears to be with the forcedeth module. Passing
forcedeth.blacklist=yes to the installer results in a clean install, not
detecting network devices, but no freezes.

[Bug 352384] Re: can not add vlans to a bond network device

2009-06-26 Thread Márcio Santos
Good to hear it worked for you.

I believe the configuration process should be included in the server
guide since it is a desired configuration in most production
environments.

Will try and find out how i can get the info inserted into the guide.

Kind regards,

Márcio Santos

[Bug 352384] Re: can not add vlans to a bond network device

2009-06-19 Thread Márcio Santos
I had a similar problem a while back.

I was trying to bring the vlans up in a similar way to what you are
doing, and i had the following configuration:

auto vlan50
iface vlan50 inet dhcp
bond-mode 802.3ad
bond-miimon 100
xmit_hash_policy layer2+3
lacp_rate slow
slaves all

auto vlan60
iface vlan60 inet dhcp
bond-mode 802.3ad
bond-miimon 100
xmit_hash_policy layer2+3
lacp_rate slow
slaves all

That would create havoc with my network configuration, because it would
try and create a bond using all interfaces including the vlans when it
brought up vlan 50 and then fail when trying to bring up vlan60 because
the slaves where allready bonded in vlan 50.

It seems the correct way to use bonding and vlans is to:

# Create the Link Aggregation without assigning it an address and defining the
interfaces to enslave
auto bond0
iface bond0 inet manual
bond-mode 802.3ad
bond-miimon 100
xmit_hash_policy layer2+3
lacp_rate slow
slaves eth0 eth1 eth2 eth3

# Create vlan50
auto vlan50
iface vlan50 inet dhcp
vlan_raw_device bond0

# Create vlan60
auto vlan60
iface vlan60 inet dhcp
vlan_raw_device bond0

Could you please try the above configuration adapted to your needs and
see if it works?
