Re: [Bug 1455899] Re: install crashed on an acer aspire v nitro, UEFI problems

2015-10-08 Thread M Ludwig
ok, thanks for your analysis and time. I **did** full-format the usbs,
using ubunu startup disk creato and also disk utility. Something went
wrong, obviously there: file mix is of course unhealthy.

My experience with usb-boots is mixed anyway, and my mainboard was also
sick (changed now): not worth to dig deeper.

2015-10-05 Thread M Ludwig
Hi again, this might be related to a board problem as well, I just got the
mainboard changed (!) on guarantee (and threw out windows alltogether on that
occasion ;-). All fine booting just 15.04.
Thanks ! ml

[Bug 1455899] [NEW] install crashed on an acer aspire v nitro, UEFI problems

2015-05-17 Thread M Ludwig
Public bug reported:

Hi,

trying to install from live USB 14.04 (15.05 seems broken) on a acer aspire
nitro V notebook, in parallel with windows 8. partitions root, swap, and an
additional /boot:efi FAT32. ESP lock was detected, I had some fun with
boot-repair, but finally worked somehow using several boot-hops. Then 14.04
seemed broken, so try a new installation in /root partition. left it overnight,
computer woke up correctly. now Install seems broken, quite likely boot loader
problems.
I m trying boot-repair again. Thanks !

Michael
