Afraid I'm not running on that machine anymore. Hopefully the original
reporter can provide the information needed.

I had this bug and switching to xorg-edgers fixed it.

[Bug 575002] [NEW] Using MergedFB with MergedNonRectangular set to on crashes X when moving mouse cursor into dead area

2010-05-04 Thread MDCore
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-sis

I have two monitors, the external running at 1440x900 and the laptop
screen running at 1024x768. I'm using MergedFB with MergedNonRectangular
set to on, to stop the smaller screen from scrolling. But when my mouse
cursor moves into the dead 132 pixel high area, X crashes. If I set
MergedNonRectangular to off it no longer crashes, but the laptop screen
scrolls vertically. This used to work fine on Jaunty.

LSPCI says:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 661/741/760
PCI/AGP or 662/761Gx PCIE VGA Display Adapter

The relevant parts of xorg.conf:
Driver sis
Option MergedFB on
Option MergedNonRectangular off
#Option CRT2Position LeftOf
Option ForceCRT2Type LCD
Option MetaModes 1920x1080-1024x768 1440x900-1024x768 1024x768
#Option MergedXineramaScreen0 right, top
Option MergedDPI 100 100

Note: I run different sized monitors at home and at work, that's why I
also have 1920x1080 in my Metamodes.

I tried running on the xorg-edgers PPA but this hasn't fixed the
problem.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-sis (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
