[Bug 881642] Re: closing the contacts window in pidgin now quits pidgin

2012-10-11 Thread Madhusudan.C.S
Pidgin was working fine for me till 12.04 and I "fresh" installed 12.10
a few days back and I see this bug. It is very annoying. Please fix this
bug? I can send the debug log if it is required. What is more painful is
that Pidgin does not provide an explicit minimize to tray option.

I have flashplugin-installer installed from repos. But still I am not
able to view any flash related content on Firefox. So I tried re-

also tried installing it from Adobe's website. Still no use. After
today's upgrade of the flash plugin. I am getting this error:

[Bug 227886] Re: DVD writing takes more than an hour with any DVD, set to any speed in both Brasero and Gnomebaker

2008-08-08 Thread Madhusudan.C.S
Bah, Ubuntu is not slow as hell at least. I had reported this in the very first
week of my usage with Hardy Heron and at last the package name has been changed
now, when there is just 2 more months for the release of Intrepid. And to be
very frank the bug is not alone in brasero but in every CD/DVD writing utility
I tried like k3b and others. If the case mentioned above was for the DVD. CD
writing is also a pain. It takes around 30 minutes to write a 700 MiB CD at 52x
consuming full 100% CPU. So I think the bug is not in a specific package but a
common backend used by all the burning tools.

Things doesn't stop here. The problem also continues with the playing of
CD/DVD. I mean when I put already burnt CD/DVD into the tray, the moment it is
accessed the CPU usage raises to 100% hampering all other work happening on the
system. By any chance if I try to play the video in the DVD/CD if there exists
some such, I can see frame by frame of the video with a gap between each frame
anywhere in the range of 1 or 2 seconds.

I thought Ubuntu will fix this bug in 8.04.1 itself, but nothing has
been done. Looks like people are least interested in the bug. I don't
know why but it exists. I at least hope Intrepid will not have such
hopeless problems.

[Bug 227886] [NEW] DVD writing takes more than an hour with any DVD, set to any speed in both Brasero and Gnomebaker

2008-05-07 Thread Madhusudan.C.S
Public bug reported:

It is a painful task to burn DVDs on Hardy. I first burnt a DVD at
maximum speed in Brasero. The content size was around 4.1GiB. It took
nearly 75 minutes to burn the DVD, but it was successful. Then I thought
there must be some problems with Brasero and burnt another DVD with
Gnomebaker, again the result it same. Its painful to see both of these
applications use 1.14GiB(100%) of my RAM which I see when I run top when
burning DVDs. This makes it impossible to use any other application.
Even chatting in Pidgin becomes impossible. Still more paining is that
Brasero uses 100% CPU most of the time.

Hardy is an LTS and shouldn't have shipped with such a critical
bug. I tried with both Moserbaer Pro DVD and a cheap DVD. Results are
same. It is so sad that I have to install Winblow$ now on my machine to
use Nero or I should install another distro just for burning DVDs. I
dont want to go out of Ubuntu. Please help me.

Thanks in advance,

Its not possible to reproduce this for me with a new account. I am sorry. I
tried deleting the .purple directory. Then it works fine without any
problem. I think this probably because of the GUIfications or Music tracker
plugin.

[Bug 221863] [NEW] pidgin freezes without any message or error

2008-04-25 Thread Madhusudan.C.S
Public bug reported:

Hi all,
I installed Hardy i386 (Final) yesterday and was playing around for a
while before starting my actual productive work. In this time I used Pidgin lot
of times for all the chatting activities. From today morning Pidgin is freezing
without leaving any error message. I ran it from terminal to see if it gives
some error message but no message as such. One thing I remember doing on it is
that I installed Guifications and Music Tracker plugins on it and enabled them.
Is this problem because of that?? If so please tell me how to disable them for
a while till these bugs are fixed, because I cannot live without Pidgin.

[Bug 113595] Re: A Weird Problem after Installing Feisty

2007-06-01 Thread Madhusudan.C.S
Hi Caspar,
Thanks for the reply. My friend got Windows working properly after
formatting and reinstalling it. And as far as Ubuntu is concerned he did a
clean install of that also. And he found one interesting thing after giving
restart after installation he had been out keeping his computer on itseems. To
his surprise he was able to see the Ubuntu login window itseems. So he
restarted his computer and waited for around 10mins and then he got the login
window again(10mins is too long a time for an OS to boot know). He was neither
able to see any messages such as mounting swap, mounting filesystem and such
things nor the Feisty's beautiful progress bar.
When we asked in #ubuntu IRC one guy said to remove the word
*splash* from menu.lst file of GRUB. But when we did that the system started
booting with normal speed maybe 90-120secs(he has a 256MiB RAM System), but
still he was not able to see the beautiful progress bar and the loading
messages. He desperately wants to see the progress bar while booting. He is
almost in LOVE with that color combination. Can you kindly help us please?

[Bug 113595] A Weird Problem after Installing Feisty

2007-05-09 Thread Madhusudan.C.S
Public bug reported:

Hi Everyone,
My friend is facing a weird problem after installing Feisty
Desktop Edition. He is not able to connect to Internet also. So I am writing
this mail on behalf of him. He already had Windows and Fedora Core 5 on his
system. Both were running smoothly. But seeing the features and stability of
Ubuntu-Feisty he wanted to remove Fedora and install Ubuntu on it.
He did so. During installation he selected manual type of
partitioning. Then he deleted the swap partition and his Fedora partition and
recreated a swap again and a ext3 partition giving / as mount point. The
installation went on smoothly. But after the installation he restarted his
system but when he selected Ubuntu in GRUB it said "Wait" for about a second or
two and a blank screen came. Nothing happened after that. When he got into
Windows it showed only his wallpapers, nothing other than that. Its not showing
the icons, not even the start bar in Windows. He feels that even Windows
problem might have occured because of Feisty installation. Please help us.
