[Bug 1218309] Re: Gnome-shell freeze

2016-02-19 Thread Mantas Zimnickas
Same here, Gnome Shell 3.12.2 on Ubuntu 12.04. Gnome Shell freezes
randomly, for few seconds and comes back after few seconds. During
freeze I can move mouse.

I guess this is caused by some of extensions, because Gnome Shell runs
on single thread using async JavaScript. So if an extension does a
blocking non-io bound operation, whole Gnome Shell freezes, while this
operation is finished.

[Bug 883421] Re: material accelaraion disappeared

2012-02-27 Thread Mantas Zimnickas
What material acceleration does mean?

After upgrading from 11.04 to 11.10, all graphics became very slow. When
switching windows with Alt+Tab I even can see how windows are redrawing.
I have same graphics card as in bug description:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility
M7 LW [Radeon Mobility 7500]

Here is glxinfo | grep render output:

direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R100 (RV200 4C57) x86/MMX/SSE2 TCL DRI2

[Bug 129041] Re: xterm icon available by default

2011-05-20 Thread Mantas Zimnickas
Pleas return back xterm.desktop file.

Now Unity, Gnome Shell, Gnome-do, all of them recognize programs by
their associated .desktop file.

Because of missing xterm .desktop file it is not possible to add xterm
to unity's or gnome-shell's dash, also it is not possible to launch
xterm trough launchers mentioned above.

gnome-shell even does not group several xterm windows, because of
missing .desktop file.

As I understand all applications must have associated .desktop file to
work properly, xterm is not an command line program, so it must have
associated .desktop file.

xterm can be removed from menus, etc., but it must have .desktop file,
because new desktop environments heavily use them in various ways.

In my case problem was related with full disk. Because Asus Eee 701 has

When I logged to console with Ctrl+Alt+F1, checked disk usage:
 $ df -h

And it showed, that there is no space left.

When I deleted some files, I could again log in.

2009-12-17 Thread Mantas Zimnickas
Same here...

After fresh UNR 9.10 install and using it 2 weeks, I can't login, same problem
as described in this bug and here in forum:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1355880

I switched to console with Ctrl+Alt+F1, did update and upgrade, tried to
install and use LXDE, Kdm, instead of Gnome and Gdm, nothing worked.

Looking to Xorg logs, found EE, saying that i845 module is not loaded,
falling back to vesa. I tried to load that moduel manually with
modprobe, but that didn't helped too.

Problem happened with Asus EeePC 701.

2009-06-02 Thread Mantas Zimnickas
I'm using Ubuntu Jaunty. After installing it and using for one week,
Ubuntu started to freeze just 10 minutes after boot. Then I found, that
it's related with my PHP script, that creates 312 small files, with
content similar to this:

-8-
?php //
a:11:{s:3:fid;s:4:3495;s:10:parent_fid;s:4:3193;s:10:linked_fid;s:1:0;s:5:title;s:14:Kiti

-8-

3 of 5 times, when I try to generate these small files, Ubuntu freezes.

xmodmap -pke .xmodmap
in your home directory.

Than edit the file .xmodmap by exchanging the line
keycode 156 = XF86Launch1 NoSymbol XF86Launch1 NoSymbol XF86Launch1
by
keycode 156 = ISO_Level3_Shift NoSymbol ISO_Level3_Shift NoSymbol
ISO_Level3_Shift.

Than execute
xmodmap .xmodmap

Re: [Bug 111571] Re: Tilda:9793 GTK Error

2009-02-22 Thread Mantas Zimnickas
Now I'm using Tilda on Archlinux with E17 window manager. And Tilda is
working...

Don't know if it really helped, bet when Tilda is always crashed at start up, in
configuration I added „Run a custom command instead of the shell“: „zsh“.

After this Tilda started to work. But that was long time ago.

And now, when I run Tilda from terminal I get similar warnings:

» tilda

It would be great if Tlida's startup will be clean.

Also I user Clearlooks GTK2 theme.

Those of you that were having this problem, could you update us as to

2008-11-19 Thread Mantas Zimnickas
If i'm not wrong, I have shutdown issue for about a year and more. I
gues problem appeared after upgrade to Feisty.

About 1/3 of the time power down does work, 2/3 it doesn't.

I didn't tried rmmod snd_hda_intel, becouse this module is not loaded
at all.

Maybe there is a way to debug this annoying shut down problem?

Re: [Bug 144175] Re: tilda stays like a gray window

2007-10-31 Thread Mantas Zimnickas
I installed this .deb via gdebi. After first run I got this:

tilda: error while loading shared libraries: libconfuse.so.0: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

After installing libconfuse0:

sudo apt-get install libconfuse0

Tilda started to work and it seems, that Tilda doesn't crashes as before, but
still doesn't work. I see blinking cursor at the very top left corner of Tilda's
window, but I can't enter any thing. When I starting to type, cursor stops
blinking, but entered letters doesn't appears. So at this point Tilda is
unusable...

I fix that by setting „Run custom command instead of shell“ to my shell.

Also, „Always on Top“ doesn't work correctly too. Currently I use compiz, so it
is possible that „Always on Top“ problem is related to compiz. When I press a
key to show up Tilda window, it pulls down below currently active window, but if
I click on Tilda window with mouse, then it stays on top as needed...

Any way, at least Tilda started to work! :) Hope those bugs soon disappears too.

OK, this is step by step, what I do and what I get:

% rm -rf .tilda
% tilda

after this, tilda configuration window appears. I do not change any thing, and
just press „OK“. After that tilda window appears just for a second, and then
disappears. Then I got these error messages:

(tilda:12217): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_main_quit: assertion `main_loops
!= NULL' failed'

(tilda:12217): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_window_resize: assertion `height

Trying to run tilda again:

% tilda

and any thing happened.. Tilda window will not appeared.

% tilda -C

(tilda:12282): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_main_quit: assertion `main_loops
!= NULL' failed'

% tilda
% ps -e | grep -i tilda

no process running...

% rm -rf .tilda
% tilda

(tilda:12466): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_main_quit: assertion `main_loops

% tilda
%

And another thing, I tried to do every thing like written in:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash

But what I got:

% sudo apt-get install tilda-dbgsym

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
tilda-dbgsym: Depends: tilda (= 0.09.4-4) but 0.09.4-0ubuntu2 is to be
installed

So that is why backtrace shows nothing..

Also I attached another backtrace, when tilda is launched with removed
configuration directory.

Also I tried to install .deb package (version 0.09.4-4) from gutsy repository,
but gdebi said me, that there is a dependency problem with libc6. So I decided
to not broke dependencies.

At this time, I can't test it on gutsy.

Did you replace feisty by gutsy if you are running feisty?
It would also be useful to test this issue on gutsy (with 0.09.4-4)

Re: [Bug 111571] Re: Tilda:9793 GTK Error

2007-08-24 Thread Mantas Zimnickas
Sorry, it's my fault. It seams, that accidentally I added gutsy
http://people.ubuntu.com/~ubuntu-archive/ddebs repositories. That's why I got
dependencies errors. Now all fixed. Also I made backtraces again. I made it with
config directory and without it. Hope that now it all done well and information
will be helpful.

I also got identical error, when there is no ~/.tilda/ config directory,
I get this error:

(tilda:6879): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_window_resize: assertion `height 0'
failed

if ~/.tilda/ config direcoty is already created and I add -C flag, got
this error:

(tilda:6933): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_window_resize: assertion `height 0'
failed

Currently I'm using: Ubuntu 7.04, tilda 0.09.4
