[Bug 1380702] Re: No keyboards shortcuts in QT apps

2016-09-19 Thread Marco B.
Experiencing this issue with TeXstudio on Ubuntu 16.04. The workaround
mentioned in #14 appears to work while we wait for a fix. Thank you all
for working on this.

[Bug 1579246] Re: [SRU]handle 802.1x on ethernet properly

I also checked the package in "proposed", and it seems to correctly save
the password, although I still had to enter the password once in
addition after writing it into the connection creation window. Thank
you.

2016-08-20 Thread Marco B.
I can confirm this bug, and that changing the video output to "OpenGL

issue (thanks epoxy!).

[Bug 1183672] Re: update-manager grabs major share of CPU&RAM when browsing list items

2016-06-10 Thread Marco B.
Confirming this bug on Ubuntu 16.04, update-manager version 1:16.04.3.

The GUI hangs (greys out) for several seconds / a few minutes when
selecting kernel items with a large changelog. Couldn't check the memory
usage.

[Bug 1582212] [NEW] Double clicking a category in the "apply" confirmation dialog should expand/collapse the category

2016-05-16 Thread Marco B.
Public bug reported:

Running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64-bit, synaptic v.0.83.

When applying changes in Synaptic, a confirmation / review dialog pops
up. In this window the changes are classified in categories (e.g. "To be
installed"). The arrows that allow to expand and collapse the categories
are very small; allowing to expand and collape a category on double
click on the category name would speed up the review process and improve
usability.

Confirmed on Ubuntu 16.4 LTS 64-bit.

Not sure how changing this would affect situations where it is necessary
to connect to a network before a user can log in (such as during OS
installations).

[Bug 190359] Re: dhclient continually seeks ip address on unconnected interface

2015-02-14 Thread Marco B
I have a similar or same issue with Ubuntu 14.04.01 on a desktop with a
Ethernet connection only that worked with Ubuntu 8.04 since 2006. Since
updating, no internet.

I decided to upgrade and did a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04.01 trusty
and I NEVER had Internet again on this dektop. I am sure (tested) that
the cable is OK, the hardware is OK, the internet connection is OK

I have tried a lot of things and a long time spent with excellent
support form the comunity in Italy via IRC did not solve the issue.

[Bug 876829] Re: Oneiric's ifupdown breaks ip aliases

2012-03-08 Thread Marco B.
Had the same issue, and registered here just to say that upgrading the ifupdown
package wasn't enough to solve the issue.
As a guy posted here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=11344530&postcount=6 the upgrade process
didn't move /var/run to /run correctly. Applying the suggested workaround
solved the issue (upstart not activating the static eth0 interface because
can't create the directory)

[Bug 779460] [NEW] Firefox freezes up and shutdowns when I clear the history

2011-05-08 Thread Marco B.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

As the title explains, Firefox freezes up and then immediately shutdowns when I
try to clear the history.
It happens whenever I try to clear the history!

== Steps to reproduce the bug ==

1) Select "Clear the recent history" in the Tools (in Italian it's called
"Strumenti", I guess it's the "Tools" translation) menu entry
2) Check all the voices
3) Select "Last hour"
4) I guess it will clear your history, but it will exits unexpectedly.
5) Now re-open Firefox, and re-clear history: it works fine.

2006-11-28 Thread Marco B
I must make amends, gcc-4.1 is not liable at all.
Just I run the wrong kernel, sorry.

I tried again and again and i have seen that this problem appears on kernel
2.6.17.2 and higher, instead with 2.6.17.1 and lower all works fine.
As I compiled them with gcc-4.0 as I compiled them with gcc-4.1.

Sorry again for wrong report.

Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper - kernel 2.6.15 compiled with gcc 4.0.3 *NO* BUGGED

Later, on Debian 4.0 Etch:
1) I compiled my self the kernel 2.6.18_3 with gcc 4.1.2 and it's does not work

- Also whit new kernel 2.6.19 i have the some problem.
+ Also with new kernel 2.6.19 i have the some problem.

Instead with kernel 2.6.15 (Dapper's kernel on Edge) it works properly:
  hdparm -t /dev/sdb

  /dev/sdb:
   Timing buffered disk reads: 178 MB in 3.00 seconds = 59.25 MB/sec

It's a Ubuntu bug and not a kernel bug because with other distribution
- linux whit kernel > 2.6.17 (as an example knoppix 5.10) it works.
+ linux with kernel > 2.6.17 (as an example knoppix 5.10) it works.

[Bug 73236] sata_uli - second sata hard disk does not work properly.

2006-11-25 Thread Marco B
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic

I apologize for my very poor English.

Any device is /dev/sdb goes slowly and when it works the system is
unstable.

hdparm -tT /dev/sda /dev/sdb returns

/dev/sda:
 Timing cached reads: 1516 MB in 2.00 seconds = 756.88 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 198 MB in 3.01 seconds = 65.70 MB/sec

/dev/sdb:
 Timing cached reads: 1760 MB in 2.00 seconds = 878.71 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads:6 MB in 3.59 seconds = 1.67 MB/sec
^^

Also whit new kernel 2.6.19 i have the some problem.

hdparm -t /dev/sdb

/dev/sdb:
 Timing buffered disk reads: 178 MB in 3.00 seconds = 59.25 MB/sec

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Unconfirmed
