[Bug 436101] Re: GRUB 2 fails to find boot partition (by uuid)

2009-12-15 Thread Mario Franzbonenkamp
I just installed the recommended updates via update-manager and enden up
with an unbootable system... again. This bug ist very, very annoying,
especially if you don't know how to boot the system though. If nobody is
able to fix it properly, PLEASE at least don't overwrite /usr/lib/grub
/grub-mkconfig_lib with the next update (where I commented the 'search'
line).

[Bug 364101] Re: network-manager-openvpn does not support all options supported by openvpn

2009-11-22 Thread Mario Franzbonenkamp
Another vote for Sergeis suggestion. Please add an option like I have
my working config file, use it. I have a lot of connections to my
customers with different settings. None of them do work with the NM-
plugin. Sorry, but this plugin is a pain in the a** since the project
started and there is no hope that the situation is getting better within
the next years. An option to use an existing config file is the best
workaround I've heard so far.

[Bug 376832] Re: Crash / freeze when playing chess

2009-11-05 Thread Mario Franzbonenkamp
I get these freezes as well. Besides that, the computer opponent
sometimes just stops playing but you can shut down the program normally.

To reproduce a freeze, just play the game where you have to checkmate
the computer opponent with a king and two bishops. I never made it to
the end because of the random freezes (chess training, level 3).

I started with --debug and redirected stderr (see attached file).

[Bug 157828] Re: katapult use an ugly icon for audacity

2009-06-14 Thread Mario Franzbonenkamp
The format of the program icon is not scalable. If you use e.g. Gnome-
Do's docky bar, the icon looks very ugly because of zoomed pixels. This
affects Jaunty as well.

Please use this SVG icon instead:

As I don't know the type of license for that file I decided to start an
own icon. It is attached to this comment. Feel free to use it as you
like. It's free, completely free.

[Bug 385909] [NEW] Icon should be SVG

2009-06-11 Thread Mario Franzbonenkamp
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

The format of the program icon is PNG. If you use e.g. Gnome-Do's docky
bar, the icon looks very ugly because of zoomed pixels.

I started an SVG with Inkscape. Feel free to use it as you like.

[Bug 254140] Re: System doesn't start if was not installed to first partition

2008-08-24 Thread Mario Franzbonenkamp
Sorry for the late reply. I'm in the list of subscribers to this thread
but it seems that the notification mails got trashed by my spam filter.

Unfortunately I haven't got installed Intrepid beta anymore. All I can
do for this moment is to share the output of dmidecode (attached). If I
can grab some spare time I will attach syslog and partman later.

Thanks for the reply so far.

[Bug 254140] [NEW] System doesn't start if was not installed to first partition

2008-08-02 Thread Mario Franzbonenkamp
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: base-installer

I just installed Intrepid (Alpha) to a new partition of my 120 GB SATA
HDD. The partition layout is as follows:

sda1: 40 GB (which is / on my original system)
sda3: 65 GB (which is /home on my original system)
sda4: 10 GB (usually free, now / for Intrepid)
sda5: 5 GB (swap)

The first system start after the installation went smooth. After
shutting down the next system start ended up with an Error 18 in Grub.

This might be a problem related to Grub but the base-installer should
consider that problem and give at least a warning.

[Bug 228380] Re: /boot/config-{uname -r} does not contain correct kernel configuration

2008-05-22 Thread Mario Franzbonenkamp
Is there ANYBODY out there that feels himself responsible for kernel
stuff? It's not such a big thing to share the needed kernel config, is
it? A hint where one can find the CORRECT config would be very helpful
as well.

Or maybe someone would like to share his knowledge and reveal the secret
why there's no useful config file.

[Bug 228380] [NEW] /boot/config-{uname -r} does not contain correct kernel configuration

2008-05-08 Thread Mario Franzbonenkamp
Public bug reported:

I tried to compile a modified kernel. Unfortunately the configuration
files located at /boot don't fit the kernel(s). I compiled a kernel
without changing any option using /boot/config-2.6.24-16-generic. After
installing the new kernel package and rebooting with that kernel, half
of the hardware didn't work anymore. Unless I'm very much mistaken there
should be no difference between the new kernel and the original one.

Furthermore, one can't access /proc/config.gz because this option ist
not activated in the default kernel image.
