[Bug 1056431] [NEW] KDE resets brightness to max at login
Public bug reported: When using KDE in Ubuntu 11.04 [not Kubuntu 11.04], KDE resets the brightness to the maximum every time I log in. It takes several minutes before it will respond to my efforts to reset the brightness so I can look at the screen. [Bug 1028041] [NEW] Empathy cannot connect to Yahoo! after changing passwords
Public bug reported: I was using Empathy 2.34.0 in Gnome 2/Classic in Ubuntu 11.04. I changed my Yahoo! account password. At first I could connect to Yahoo! by opening the accounts menu and typing the new password there. For whatever reason, Empathy was unable to store/remember the password, and reverted to the old password the next time I started it. I made a bug report of this issue: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/1027420 The suggested fix was to enter passwords and encryption keys and delete everything related to Empathy in there. [Bug 1027335] [NEW] Update Manager demands partial upgrade
Public bug reported: I have not been able to use the update manager for the last few months. I am currently using Ubuntu 11.04, and am avoiding upgrading to 11.10 because I have arm issues making Unity inaccessible, and I had a botched installation of Xubuntu 11.10 last year and had to reinstall Ubuntu 11.04. The update manager reports that because Not all updates can be installed I need to Run a partial upgrade to install as many updates as possible. I am concerned that a partial upgrade, upgrading part of the system to 11.10 would be even more error-prone and unstable than that botched installation. [Bug 876896] [NEW] Thunderbird quits on start in Xubuntu 11.10
Public bug reported: I've removed and reinstalled Thunderbird to try to correct this, but it remains broken. [Bug 682788] Re: Global menu is not ergonomical on large screens
I use menus pretty often, and use them for just about everything when learning new software. So I disagree with the idea that menus aren't important. I don't have any trouble with global menus, but I used to use a Mac [which has global menus], and I used to have a malfunctioning Alps touchpad on my current machine [which meant that, among other problems, it was hard to get fine motions with the cursor]. There is now a patch for the Alps, but there is bound to be trouble with another closed-source touchpad, mouse, or other device. [Bug 375860] Re: Alps touchpad re-enables tap-to-click on resync
Unless I'm misreading the original bug report, this same issue is giving me trouble in Natty. First of all, Maverick and Natty detect the ALPS Glidepoint as a PS/2 Mouse. By default, tapping is enabled. Unfortunately, the touchpad is too finicky and this results in random clicks every time I try to type or to drag using the touchpad, or something brushes against the touchpad. The driver reports tapping as button1 clicks so the only way to disable tapping is to disable the entire touchpad. I have a keyboard shortcut to disable the touchpad at need, but I find that the touchpad re-enables itself at inopportune moments, and re-enables itself any time I have to resume after the computer suspends. Also, I don't have a desk, so it is awkward to use external mice with my laptop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/375860 Title: Alps touchpad re-enables tap-to-click on resync To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/375860/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 762033] Re: ALPS touchpad recognized as generic PS/2 mouse
I have a similar bug on a used Sony Vaio E-series. In this case, there is no stick; the system reads the touchpad as a PS/2 mouse and it is impossible to adjust sensitivity or disable tapping. It is sensitive enough that I have enabled a hotkey to disable the entire touchpad and enable typing, but when I need to move the cursor, it is liable to randomly click on anything in its path; when I attempt to type without using the hotkey, it is liable to move the cursor location as I'm typing. It occurred in both Maverick and Natty; I reinstalled Maverick in the course of attempting to resolve the bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/762033 Title: ALPS touchpad recognized as generic PS/2 mouse -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
