1. Remove splash

5. Added vesafb.sucks=1 (per Sarvatt)

I'm going to install natty Alpha-1 and see how it breaks from there.

you had problems with VT switching? Does it work if you remove that
parameter? Can you switch to a different TTY and run 'startx' and get a
graphical desktop?

vt.handoff=7 was already there. I did not add it.
Have never had problems with VT switching.
Removing that parameter does not solve the problem.
Neither does removing 'splash quiet'
Can not switch to any TTY.

Ronald McCollam's workaround worked for me.
1. Install 10.04 LTS in side-by-side mode, letting it resize the disk
2. Reboot
3. Select the maverick install in the grub loader

Now boots fine into Maverick.

System is an Acer Aspire One ZA3

[Bug 569353] Re: Merge should skip identical files only

2010-07-02 Thread Marjo F. Mercado
I, too, would like to have this feature. It is a very convenient way of syncing
two generalized source and target locations for copy and backup purposes.
Also, a more useful warning message would be something like ""An older item
named "name_of_file" already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it
with the newer one you're moving?" This gives the user more information
regarding the source and target locations and can make a more informed decision
whether to stop the operation or continue with the replacement.

2010-03-25 Thread Marjo F. Mercado
Martin,

On current Lucid, the following scenarios now work as I expect.
1. Insert the audio CD when the drive is already attached. This works. Comment
#4.
2. Attach the entire drive to the computer while the audio CD is already
inserted. This works. This comment #6.

Attaching latest udev log FYI.

The dialog box asking what to do with disk comes up. I hit OK with rhythmbox as
default. Rhythmbox runs and now all works as expected. I did not have to run
the udevadm command specified.
When I tried to quit rhythmbox, it crashed. I will try to duplicate that after
updating udisks.
For now, this bug is not reproducible with latest packages, except udisks.

Public bug reported:

When I try to use rhythmbox with an external USB drive, with an audio CD

drive to show up as a device to use.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Attach external USB drive with an audio CD in it.
2. Open rhythmbox.
3. Check if the USB drive is shown as a device.
4. If not, then you've reproduced the problem.

[Bug 537626] [NEW] Display is corrupted while changing display resolution

2010-03-11 Thread Marjo F. Mercado
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I was testing different display resolutions using
System->Preferences->Monitors and always choosing "Return to previous
configuration". After exiting, the left hand side of my display is now
blank and not accessible. Part of my desktop is behind the corrupted
display. Changing monitor displays doesn't fix the problem. Neither does
changing themes or background images.
