@Mathias I've been trying to turn your code into a DKMS driver for 3.17+ kernels, since the PNP lookup is how it works (https://github.com/markmandel/psmouse-focaltech-dkms), since I ran into issues with the version of the kernel you had in your repo, wheras the 3.17.1 Ubuntu kernel seems to run great for me. I can build and install it just fine, but it's still seeing it as "PS/2 FocalTech FocalTech Touchpad in mouse emulation mode" - which I'm starting to wonder if the embedded focaltech drivers in the 3.17 kernel are overwriting my DKMS ones. [Bug 1236719] [NEW] [13.10] Can't use gnome shortcut keys with Gnome + XMonad
Public bug reported: Using Ubuntu 13.10, 64 bit with xmonad installed. In 13.04, the shortcuts defined in the Gnome 'Keyboard' setting application worked. Such as volume up, volume down, take a screenshot. However, in 13.10, hitting those shortcut keys (Media volume up, for example) does not do anything. The shortcut keys do work in Unity however. I'm guessing it's related to the following commits: https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-settings-daemon/commit/?id=b0cee1df30b4945f524611f354ff164d4a383262 https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-settings-daemon/commit/?id=50e3b5b4ea2b5fede8390baf8a19b33dbf047cc1 I assume since the keyboard shortcuts are no longer controlled by the gnome-settings-daemon, they don't propagate through. Not sure what the fix could be for this, but figured I would report it. [Bug 893431] [NEW] Random Display Freeze, Multiple Times a Day
Public bug reported: I was running 10.04, but did a clean install of 11.10, and I get complete freezes on a regular basis. Before this, 10.04 was incredibly stable. I can't use the keyboard, and the mouse pointer does not move. Easy way to reproduce, I have a skype conversation, and then move a window. That tends to do it quite easily. I've noticed if I'm listening to music, the music does keep playing, so it's not a kernel panic. I upgraded to the latest nvidia driver (285.05.09) in an attempt to fix the issue, but just had a freeze, so that wasn't it. I also note that since I upgraded, my fans run a lot, as it looks like my nvidia card is doing a lot of work with Unity, even when I'm not actively using it. It never did this under 10.04 (and I use to have a lot of Compiz effects running). Next time it freezes, I'll be sure to ssh in and get a tail of the dmesg. Let me know what I can do to help. [Bug 843397] [NEW] Compiz Edge & Corner Binding don't persist after reboot
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu oneiric (development branch) Release:11.10 Pretty easy to replicate issue. Open Compiz Settings and (for example), select the Scale plugin, and bind the top right corner to 'initiate window picker for all windows'. If you test the top right corner, this will work the first time it is assigned. Close Compiz Settings and reboot the machine. Login. You will not see that the binding to the top right corner no longer works. Strangely enough, if you go back into Compiz Settings and re-bind it (turn it off, and turn it back on again), it re-enables all custom bindings that have been created in Compiz. Let me know if you need any more details. I am also getting this bug on my laptop (Alienware m17x). This happens to me randomly on boot, and randomly when resumed from suspend. @Sebastian, This bug isn't about a crash - its about not being able to empty the trash on evolution. The subsequent (often) crash is secondary to the Trash bug. This seems to be what is happening to me about every 30-60 minutes on Hardy. I'm running the backport modules, and it has not helped at all. The only issue I am having here, is that I can get the error to happen on the alt+ctrl+f1 screen, however, it is larger than the screen, so I cannot see all the details. I am attaching the logs as requested. I have already had several kernel panics today, over the last 6 hours (15th of September). [Bug 200509] Re: iwl4965: Microcode SW error detected. Restarting 0x2000000
Just to add an extra note here - sometimes this drops off my internet connection, but quite regularly this also results in a kernel panic on Hardy. This can occur more than once per day. The strange thing is, it will generally only panic when I'm at home - I can only assume that it's because I'm in an apartment building, with multiple other wireless networks around, and other interference. I'm not running backports yet, but will probably plan on moving to Ibex when Alpha6 comes out, to try the new kernel, and see if that solves the issue. [Bug 205653] Re: Hardy beta - laptop randomly freezes with caps & scroll lock leds blinking
Chris Coulson - Thanks for the feedback. The nice thing is, I can 100% without a doubt say it's the wireless card. The reason being, that at my previous job, I would be plugged into network through a cable, and my wireless would be turned off. In this state, I never had a hard crash for over 6 months. Working from home (as I tend to do now), I use wireless all day, and the only time I have a hard crash is when it is on. So I'm happy to play around with things, to see if it's an issue with the combination, but it is definitely got to do with the wireless card being on. -- Hardy beta - laptop randomly freezes with caps & scroll lock leds blinking https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/205653 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@quadomatic You see that's funny, because I don't generally get it during high network traffic, I get it more when things are idle, and then I go to do something over the network. I'm tempted to think it's NetworkManager, as this is happening across cards. I also have exactly the same issue! I have an Intel 4965AGN card. 2) It is more likely to happen if the computer sits idle, especially if there is no internet connectivity. If I leave something running like IM, it tends to happen less. 3) Sometimes it happens during non-idle periods, i.e. like just now when all I was doing was writing this post in firefox. 4) Once a freeze occurs, only a hard reboot will save it 5) I have found that if I reboot, and then allow ubuntu to reload, and then reboot again, it is less likely to occur. 6) It is very random, sometimes it can not happen for 2 days, then it will happen 5 time during the day. 7) This will sound very strange, but it seems more likely to occur in the evening I don't know why that is.
