Re: [Bug 842030] Re: Cups does not recognize wireless connects

2011-09-15 Thread Mark Rabideau
Hi Tim

I reinstalled the Epson to make certain its connection was current to
the OS release. I did not assign a static IP. I certainly can do
that. The other HP is on a second wireless network (and hub). The 970
works fine. The problem appears to be only with the Epson ... and its
simply not recognized as being connected when printing is activated.
As for setup and direct IP access to the Epson there is no problem at all.

Do you have any other printers than the EPSON WorkForce 630 and the HP

Which one does not work for you? If you have more than these two
printers, which ones do you have in addition and how are they connected?

At least for the Epson I have seen that the IP address has changed (from
192.168.0.6 to 192.168.0.8). This makes the printer stop to work as the
lpd://... URI of the printer (CUPS' only reference to the printer) is
based on the IP. So for using URIs of this type you need to configutre
your router (via its web interface) to always assign the same IP to the
printer. You can also select the DNS-SD URI for your Epson by choosing
LPD network printer via DNS-SD under Connection on the first page
opf the add-printer wizard of system-config-printer, then the printer's
 IP does not matter.

The HP does not show indeed. How is it connected?

[Bug 708809] Re: The Automaximize windows in Unity value is too low

2011-04-20 Thread Mark Rabideau
I would agree that this is a problem. Perhaps there ought to be an
option somewhere for the user to establish the threshold for
automaximize. The current value makes me crazy on my netbook... it adds
numerous mouse-clicks before the screen is set to my liking and if ease
of use is a desired feature of Unity, the current setup does not achieve
that objective.

[Bug 749394] [NEW] .evolution files missing?

2011-04-03 Thread Mark Rabideau
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I am not certain if this is a bug or a feature

I have used Backup/Restore from evolution to build email on my new 11.04
beta1 machine. For some reason the files do not show anywhere in my
/home/user/.evolution directory (I have 1.7 GB of file data). However
all my data does seem to appear in my email. I then renamed the
.evolution dir to be something unhidden (evolution- not hidden) and the
mail still works. I searched my PC for my local mail files but do not
find them. Have they gone walk-about? Anyone know where they might
reside?

I get the same problem... Pidgin just randomly closes, leaves no message

I am using Skype most of the time but the problem appears even when
Skype is not running. I tried uninstall/ reinstall of Pidgin twice, also
to no effect.

Any ideas?

[Bug 109529] Re: [nvidia-glx] can suspend/resume once, suspending a second time hangs, nvidia-glx-legacy works

2007-07-06 Thread Mark Rabideau
Hi all,

I have noticed that I get the following error message on entering and
exiting hibernation:

ACPI set timing mode failed (on ata1 2)

I am running a Dell e1505n w/
GeForce Go 7300, PCI-E 16x, 256 MB, 200 MHz,
NVIDIA Linux x86 Kernel Module 1.0-9631 Thu Nov 9 17:38:10 PST 2006

I am also using Beryl/Compiz-Fusion
Feisty 7.04 (Ubuntu)

Hibernation works but not correctly... I has frequent screen garbage and
ends up with an odd little box in the upper right hand quadrant of the
screen just before the Login box appears.

I do not know if this is the same problem as reported by others in this
thread (if it is I hope this note helps with the problem resolution).
If the posting belongs elsewhere please feel free to move it or tell me
where to go ;^)
