[Bug 2083081] Re: Locally Mirrored ESM repositories are not properly being picked up by software updater.
Sorry for the late reply - I was on holiday last week. The only remaining was that the updates were appearing twice - under the normal updates section and under the greyed out Pro updates section. We have discussed this internally and have decided that it's not really an issue. So, we're happy with the latest version in the ppa. My colleague has closed the support ticket with the same info. Are you happy to release this fix into the normal update channel? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2083081 Title: Locally Mirrored ESM repositories are not properly being picked up by software updater. [Bug 2083081] Re: Locally Mirrored ESM repositories are not properly being picked up by software updater.
Sorry, I did mean "to be updated". To clarify what I meant by the duplicate update issue, I have attached another screenshot. The python3-pip package is showing in the "Other updates" section and also in the (disabled) Ubuntu Pro security updates section. It's the same versions in both sections InStalled version: 20.0.2-5ubuntu1.10 Available version: 20.0.2-5ubuntu1.10+esm2 ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2024-10-03 10-55-34.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/2083081/+attachment/5824441/+files/Screenshot%20from%202024-10-03%2010-55-34.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2083081 Title: Locally Mirrored ESM repositories are not properly being picked up by software updater. [Bug 2083081] Re: Locally Mirrored ESM repositories are not properly being picked up by software updater.
I've now installed 4:20.69 Unfortunately, it's showing duplicate entries for updated packages that are in upstream ESM and also in our staged repos. The highlighted package in the screenshot is also one of the "Python package installer" updates in the "Other updates" section. I think that's going to be confusing for users. The behaviour of 4:20.66 which showed the Ubuntu Pro security updates (coming from our staged repos) in a separate section was preferable. Ideally, we would like a flag that we can set that would stop software updater from showing anything that it's found in upstream ESM. We would be happy with the default being that they're shown, but we could configure it to turn off that section. Is that something that's possible please? ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2024-10-02 12-25-53.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/2083081/+attachment/5824138/+files/Screenshot%20from%202024-10-02%2012-25-53.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2083081 Title: Locally Mirrored ESM repositories are not properly being picked up by software updater. [Bug 2083081] Re: Locally Mirrored ESM repositories are not properly being picked up by software updater.
I think I know why the Python2.7 packages are showing like that. In the current cut of our ESM Landscape staged repos, we have Python 2.7.18-1~20.04.4+esm2, but version 2.7.18-1~20.04.4+esm3 is available directly from upstream ESM, even though ESM isn't enabled in UA pro. That's the same behaviour as before. For the python3-pip package that's showing nicely under the new Ubuntu Pro security updates section, that represents a move from a standard package to an ESM package that IS in our staged cut of ESM: python3-pip/devclient-focal-staging-apps-security,devclient-focal- staging-apps-security 20.0.2-5ubuntu1.10+esm2 all [upgradable from: 20.0.2-5ubuntu1.10] What we'd really like is for software updater to not show ESM packages that are only in upstream ESM if that's possible please? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2083081 Title: Locally Mirrored ESM repositories are not properly being picked up by software updater. [Bug 154078] Re: Error during version upgrade
I think I can make sense of and confirm this report. Using "Update Manager" in the GUI or "do-release-upgrade" from the command line fails after displaying a list of software no longer supported by Canonical. In the GUI clicking on the "Close" button aborts the upgrade and restores the system to it's original state. Using the command line interface the same list of software is displayed and the upgrade is then aborted with no further opportunity for user input. This is a bit of a show stopper, preventing me from upgrading from Gutsy to Feisty. A couple of less important problems I noticed during this process: - there seems to be an unnecessary retrieval of the package indices - one of the status lines fails to clear to eol resulting in some slightly ugly lines: "Reading package lists: Donefeisty-security/universe Packages: 963 " ** Attachment added: "Command line log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/12151399/do-release-upgrade.txt -- Error during version upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/154078 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 12937] Re: Can't deliver mail through mixed IPv4/IPv6 smarthost
I've encountered this failure in a different context. This machine uses a PCMCIA ethernet card for connectivity. Postfix is configured as a satellite system. After several weeks running during which time I reconfigured eth0 to use a static ip address rather than dhcp, resolvconf presented me with a null /etc/resolv.conf on rebooting. Correcting the file and restarting networking did not solve the problem although don't think I restarted postfix. Perhaps postfix shouldn't remember the dns setup independantly of the OS. I am not on good terms with resolvconf. The MX record for my isp, clear.net.nz, points to mx.clear.net.nz while they advertise their smtp server as smtp.clear.net.nz which is set as relayhost in postfix. There is no MX record listed for smtp.clear.net.nz or mx.clear.net.nz. ... (delivery temporarily suspended: Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=smtp.clear.net.nz type=MX: Host not found, try again) /etc/network/interfaces had 'auto eth0' at the end of the file rather than before the eth0 stanza so I moved that to it's traditional location and added 'allow-hotplug eth0' as well before reloading networking, hoping that this would improve detection of the pcmcia card on boot. On restarting postfix mail delivery resumed. Some of these things are likely red herrings and the aetiology of my experience may not be the same as that of the original reporter. There are no IPV6 routers present. Further analysis delayed due to lack of sleep. -- Can't deliver mail through mixed IPv4/IPv6 smarthost https://launchpad.net/bugs/12937 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 59557] horizontal off by one error
Public bug reported: Running aviplayer under dapper on a toshiba satellite 2550cdt (~200MHz ~200MB 800x600) gives an apparent off by one error which manifests as a vertical line of not quite randomly changing coloured pixels down the right hand margin. This happens whether the window is maximised or not. Putting another window over the active video window results in the anomalous vertical line appearing at the left edge over the overlaying window. This does not happen on other computers running dapper here. I would flag this as a security vulnerability because I don't know that this doesn't result in memory corruption at the left hand edge and because I don't know where the data which is filling the rightmost column is coming from however the package is from "universe" and I understand that such a flag would be ignored. I'm more than happy to poke about for more information, but you'll need to tell me where. ** Affects: avifile (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- horizontal off by one error https://launchpad.net/bugs/59557 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
