[Bug 1179583] Re: Xorg freeze

2013-06-04 Thread MarkWayne
This is still an issue for me. It just happened again.

It was impossible to do a smooth restart in any way. I was forced to
login from another machine and 'sudo shutdown -r now'. I first tried
'sudo restart lightdm'. This just blacked the screen.

I am requesting help with this bug, please.

[Bug 1179583] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2013-05-13 Thread MarkWayne
Public bug reported:

The system freezes under a specific but not consistent circumstance.

System freeze means: complete lock-up except for mouse movement (only,
no response to mouse-button); windows cannot be opened or closed,
console cannot be changed (via ctrl-alt-fN), etc.

The specific circumstance (but not consistent, meaning that it doesn't
always happen but only happens during) is linking a URL from Thunderbird
12.0 to Firefox 20.0. The link is accessed (via mouse-button click), no
tab opens in Firefox, with the system freezing immediately. In other
words, the response of the system to linking the URL is the freeze.

Thank you.

[Bug 705202] Re: xmgrace window font is not loaded correctly

2012-01-18 Thread MarkWayne
Martin Konopka (martin.konopka) wrote on 2011-05-19: #11

Nothing has changed in xmgrace behaviour after installation of
xfonts-100dpi
xfonts-75dpi
xfonts-100dpi-transcoded
xfonts-75dpi-transcoded

Actually, this worked for me:

Release 11.10 (oneiric)
Kernel Linux 3.0.0-14-generic
GNOME 3.2.1
64-bit; gnome shell

In particular, I think it was the 75dpi fonts that were needed.

Be sure to restart X: ALT+PrtScrn/SysRq+k after 'sudo apt-get install
xfonts-XXX'
