[Bug 241305] Re: security.ubuntu.com not accessible in IPv6 (AAAA record missing in the DNS)
Just ran into this (9-year-old ?) problem on my Ubuntu 14.04 PPC system. Used workaround of editing gai.conf (as mentioned earlier in this thread) to prefer IPV4 connections. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241305 Title: security.ubuntu.com not accessible in IPv6 ( record missing in the DNS) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-website/+bug/241305/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1155988] [NEW] package rsyslog-pgsql 5.8.6-1ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
Public bug reported: I don't know if this is a bug. It may not be. My Xubuntu system popped up a dialog that said it had detected one, so I went ahead and let it submit this report. I had been installing and removing rsyslog, rsyslog-pgsql, postgresql several times, trying to get rsyslog to log messages to the postgresql database. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS Release:12.04 >From "dpkg -l '*syslog*' '*postgres*' ": ii rsyslog 5.8.6-1ubuntu8 reliable system and kernel logging daemon ii rsyslog-pgsql 5.8.6-1ubuntu8 PostgreSQL output plugin for rsyslog ii postgresql 9.1+129ubuntu1 object-relational SQL database (supported version) ii postgresql-9.1 9.1.8-0ubuntu12.04 object-relational SQL database, version 9.1 server ii postgresql-client-9.1 9.1.8-0ubuntu12.04 front-end programs for PostgreSQL 9.1 ii postgresql-client-common129ubuntu1 manager for multiple PostgreSQL client versions ii postgresql-common 129ubuntu1 PostgreSQL database-cluster manager ii postgresql-contrib 9.1+129ubuntu1 additional facilities for PostgreSQL (supported version) ii postgresql-contrib-9.1 9.1.8-0ubuntu12.04 additional facilities for PostgreSQL ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: rsyslog-pgsql 5.8.6-1ubuntu8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-38.61-generic-pae 3.2.37 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-38-generic-pae i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu17.1 Architecture: i386 Date: Fri Mar 15 20:09:09 2013 ErrorMessage: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 12.04.2 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release i386 (20130213) MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: rsyslog Title: package rsyslog-pgsql 5.8.6-1ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: rsyslog (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-package i386 precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1155988 Title: package rsyslog-pgsql 5.8.6-1ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rsyslog/+bug/1155988/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1021527] [NEW] Installer crashed after hitting escape key during a dialog
Public bug reported: This all happened while installing Ultimate 3.4 onto an existing machine, doing a clean install on a partition that was used for an earlier installation of Ultimate-Edition. I was installing to existing partition sda8, but at the end of the install, I was told that the bootloader couldn't be installed onto /dev/sdb . Now it just happens that I removed 3 USB drives during the install, leaving just the internal sda disk drive. I didn't think removing external USB drives would affect anything, but maybe it did. But more than this trouble, the dialog asking me what to do and giving me some radio button choices, wouldn't work. I selected to continue without a bootloader, but if/when I clicked on the OK button, nothing would happen. It was a little difficult making selections with the mouse due to the mouse cursor being a blue rotating ball, but I was able to figure out what part of the ball could make selections. Nevertheless clicking on the OK button would do nothing. I finally hit the escape key which caused a message to pop up that the installer had crashed. I now hope that if/when I reboot into the ubuntu linux on sda6, that I'll be able to run update-grub and add the Ultimate-Edition to the grub menu. [Bug 887330] Re: package rsyslog 4.6.4-2ubuntu4.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 126
I see the problem. There was an incorrect v ersion of perl (compiled for a different architecture) in /usr/local/bin/perl and that was apparently used during the installation of rsyslog . I have removed that bogus file and will re-run the udpate as soon as it finishes. I'm confident it will all work OK the next time. Sorry for the bogus report (though it might be good to specifically use /usr/bin/perl). --- Marnix A. van Ammers -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/887330 Title: package rsyslog 4.6.4-2ubuntu4.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 126 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rsyslog/+bug/887330/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 887330] [NEW] package rsyslog 4.6.4-2ubuntu4.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 126
Public bug reported: While using Update Manager to update my Ubuntu 11.04 virtual machine running in VmWare Fusion on my iMac, a message popped up about an error. The popup gave me the option of reporting the problem, which I did. The update is still running. Apparently the newer rsyslog failed to install, but I have no idea what the problem was. I hope the details automatically accompanying this report will tell you exactly what caused the problem.
