Re: [Bug 816329] Re: cannot login as a second user using lightDM

2011-08-03 Thread Martin Gustafsson
I update my system every day, so I always use the latest available.
I tested to rename the .dmrc to .dmrc-bck but could not reproduce the
problem anymore.

[Bug 208548] Re: en_SE locale needed to get correct weekdays in Sweden

2009-10-09 Thread Martin Gustafsson
I have been trying for a long time to find a way to change the calendar
to display Monday as the first day of the week. I thought this should be
an option and have searched for this setting. Even better if this is set
by default. I would also like to have the clock displayed in 24h format
by default, the temperature in C and the wind speed in m/s. These are
the first things a have to change after installing the system. I usually
have to change paper size from letter to A4 too. Like everyone else in
Sweden I use English as the language on my desktop. When reading the
previous comments I understand that American settings is a must if I
decide to use English as a language of the desktop. I find this a bit
strange because I am allowed to select Swedish keyboard-layout (åäö)
during the installation despite my choice of language.

[Bug 423913] [NEW] netbook-launcher unresponsive

2009-09-03 Thread Martin Gustafsson
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10, my Acer Aspire One has been totally
unusable in netbook-desktop mode. The netbook launcher is very, very
slow. If I use the CLUTTER_VBLANK=none, the responsiveness is back to
normal, but the netbook-launcher process then eats 30% cpu.

[Bug 317026] Re: netbook-launcher extremely slow

2009-08-29 Thread Martin Gustafsson
I have this problem too after upgrading to 9.10 on my Acer Aspire One 110.
When I switch from the classic mode to the netbook mode I get the following
error:

"An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information for
netbook-launcher. Some of your configuration settings may not work
properly.

Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that
you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS
locks due to a system crash. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for
information. (Details - 1: Could not send message to GConf daemon:
Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus))"

The netbook launcher is extremely slow but if I type sudo CLUTTER_VBLANK=none
netbook-launcher in a terminal, it makes things much better. I have a
netbook-launcher process that eats 30% cpu and the following message is written
in the terminal over and over:
"(netbook-launcher:7506): Clutter-CRITICAL **: clutter_timeline_do_tick:
assertion `CLUTTER_IS_TIMELINE (timeline)' failed"

How can I add CLUTTER_VBLANK=none as a default option when I start?

[Bug 400870] [NEW] unable to login to 9.10

2009-07-17 Thread Martin Gustafsson
Public bug reported:

After upgrade to 9.10 from 9.04 on my Acer Aspire One with netbook remix, I can
not log in the normal way.
At the gdm greeter menu, I get the following error message regardless which
user I try:
"error initiating conversation with authentication system - general failure".

When running 9.04 the system was set-up to log in directly to the sytem
(without giving user-id or passwd), but I remember that I had to do some
tweak to be able to start the wireless network without giving the
password.

I don't know if it is relevant, but I attach some of the messages in the
/var/log/auth.log

It is reproducable everytime if I lock the screen and then try to switch

If I try to switch user from from my session using the user switcher up

second time I try the same it works. When I tested today it worked in

[Bug 267839] [NEW] evolution does not display mails

2008-09-08 Thread Martin Gustafsson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Since upgrade to 8.10 sometimes Evolution does not display the mail messages.
I can see the subject but not the content of the message (not in the pre-view
or when I open the massage). It is just completely empty.
It happens randomly and if I exit and start Evolution it works as normal again.

[Bug 267828] [NEW] switch user does not work

2008-09-08 Thread Martin Gustafsson
Public bug reported:

Since upgraded to 8.10 the user switcher does not work properly anymore

Sometimes I receive error messages like this:
Graphical System Error
The graphical interface did not properly start, which is needed for
graphical logins. It is likely that the X Window System or GDM is not
properly configured.

The X server failed to finish starting.
3 X failed

Sometimes it works to switch user, but the newly opened session does not
have the usual theme, just an ugly standard gnome lay-out.

[Bug 210900] Re: Wireless network not working with Acer Aspire 4315

2008-08-28 Thread Martin Gustafsson
Hello, I have upgraded to the latest kernel 2.6.27-1.2 and now it seems like
the wireless network is working perfect. The network manager is showing a
strong and consistent signal. I have also tested the speed to and from the
internet and it is good (comparable with with eth0). Good work! I really hope
2.6.27 will make it into 8.10.
I consider this bug resolved and If I find something other that does not work
in 2.6.27 I will open a new bug report.

[Bug 210900] [NEW] Wireless network not working with Acer Aspire 4315

2008-04-02 Thread Martin Gustafsson
Public bug reported:

Made a fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04 on a Acer Aspire 4315 and everything works
apart from the internal wireless card.
It does not show up in the network manager although it seems to be detected by
the kernel as AR242XX. I am running kernel 2.6.24-12-generic. Also tried
2.6.24-13 but it did not work better (in fact worse, as it also failed to
detect the sound card).
As a work-around, I plugged in my D-link dwl-122 usb-card, which works.
I attach output from lspci -vv and lsmod.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do/provide!

[Bug 192655] Re: Open office splash binary lockup

2008-02-25 Thread Martin Gustafsson
I can confirm this with Kubuntu Hardy I think. The funny thing is that I
have noticed that the cpu fan is always making a lot noise when my
girlfriend uses the computer. After some investigation I found out that
Xorg and a OOo process eats 100% of the cpu when she is using the
computer. The splash to OOo is always there in the background too.
Killing the splash-process solves the problem. I have spent some time
trying to reproduce the bug my self but without success. Maybe she
double-clicks on the document icons and starts too many instances of OOo
at the same time giving the same scenario as Mikael Gerdin reported?

[Bug 134660] Re: Ralink rt2400 / rt2500 / rt2570 / rt61 / rt73 do not work out of the box in Gutsy/Hardy

2008-01-27 Thread Martin Gustafsson
I experienced problems especially when using bittorrent, uploading and
downloading a couple of torrents at the same time. The only way to get
it working again was to reboot the computer. With 2.6.24-5, the network
seems to be more stable.

[Bug 104743] wireless network (ralink usb) not working in feisty

2007-04-09 Thread Martin Gustafsson
Public bug reported:

I recently lost the wireless networking in feisty.
I have two different usb wireless network card.
D-link dwl-g122 version b1 (rt2570 driver)
D-link dwl-g122 version c1 (rt73usb driver)

Version b1 was working since Dapper until just recently .
Version c1 was working a short period in Feisty (think it was kernel 2.6.20-8).

Now none of them work but I get different error messages from the
network monitor (see attached logs).
