[Bug 398155] Re: evolution forgotten password google calendar
I was looking for google calendar + evolution related bugs and ran into this report. I can say for myself, this bug is invalid. [Bug 39860] Re: International Date/Time
Martin Albisetti: in my opinion this indeed is a usability annoyance for new users. Take me (and probably the orginal reporter Mårten aswell) as an example: We are Swedish people but we prefer the US english install, so we choose english language during install. However we tell the setup tool we live in Sweden, so timezone is configured correctly. Time is normally shown in 24 hours in Sweden but not in the the setup. Also dates is displayed in US format which is wierd to read for us. To fix this, we need to add this to /etc/default/locale (and reboot): LC_TIME="sv_SE.UTF-8" When done, Evolution and other software will display time & date correctly. The best solution for this would be for the setup program to automatically set LC_TIME for the country you select you live in during setup. At least i suspect that will make more people happy "by default". -- International Date/Time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/39860 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I am also hit by this bug on my work PC (amd64 and fully updated Ubuntu 8.10). The issue usually shows up every work day. Gnome fully freeze up, even mouse cursor cant move. If you leave the computer alone for a couple of minutes it resumes to working state. [Bug 63352] Re: Creative labs X-Fi sound card unsupported
Actually, there is ongoing work to support the X-Fi [1]. I think it's unfair to complain on Creative here for the lack of Linux drivers, when they have actually been available for a year or so [2] (64bit only, in beta). And this spring they released 32bit drivers as well [3]. Last time I used Creative drivers in Windows they were bloated and crippled, and the Linux ones appears to have their issues on their own. I for one will not buy Creative hardware again because of their terrible drivers. I also think it's unfair of you to complain on Canonical for the lack of packed drivers, because the drivers Creative released is still in beta and doesn't always work properly. And for the love of everything that's holy and some things that are not, don't come dragging with the "OMG i will reinstall windows this suxx0rs" argument. Many people are working hard to support your free operating system choice, and most is not even getting paid for it. Personally I don't care much of what OS you use, as long as you let me keep my preferences and work in a OSS environment. 1: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Njc3NQ 2: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4823915&postcount=675 3: http://connect.creativelabs.com/opensource/Wiki/SoundCard%20Support.aspx -- Creative labs X-Fi sound card unsupported https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/63352 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 282179] Re: file-roller crashed with SIGSEGV in strcmp()
I hit this crash aswell trying to extract a shady zip file. Using "7z e filename" on the commandline worked to extract the file. I believe the issue lies in special characters used in the filename. How come this is a "low importance" bug? A patch has been availaible for several releases, comparable functionality is available in KDE, Windows and Mac OS. [Bug 276476] Re: INFO: task blocked for more than 120 seconds causes system freeze
I am also hit by this bug on my work PC (amd64 and fully updated Ubuntu 8.10). The issue usually shows up every work day. Gnome fully freeze up, even mouse cursor cant move. If you leave the computer alone for a couple of minutes it resumes to working state. Often the freeze happens in combination with other network or disk-heavy tasks being run, but I have not figured any way to clearly reproduce it. I have 2 laptops and 1 home pc that also runs 64-bit ubuntu 8.10 and none of those computers show this issue. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: scim In the default installation of Ubuntu 8.04, scim is enabled by default. And the default configuration has "shift+space" as a setting to trigger SCIM.
