[Bug 398155] Re: evolution forgotten password google calendar

2009-07-22 Thread Martin Lindhe
I was looking for google calendar + evolution related bugs and ran into
this report.

I can say for myself, this bug is invalid.

I just installed a clean Ubuntu 9.04 system and set up evolution with my
google calendar and checked to store password. The password is not
forgotten between restarts.

I also use Google Contacts and it is also working fine.

[Bug 39860] Re: International Date/Time

2009-07-24 Thread Martin Lindhe
Martin Albisetti: in my opinion this indeed is a usability annoyance for
new users.

Take me (and probably the orginal reporter Mårten aswell) as an example:

We are Swedish people but we prefer the US english install, so we choose
english language during install.
However we tell the setup tool we live in Sweden, so timezone is configured
correctly.

Time is normally shown in 24 hours in Sweden but not in the the setup.
Also dates is displayed in US format which is wierd to read for us.

To fix this, we need to add this to /etc/default/locale (and reboot):

LC_TIME="sv_SE.UTF-8"

When done, Evolution and other software will display time & date correctly.

The best solution for this would be for the setup program to
automatically set LC_TIME for the country you select you live in during
setup. At least i suspect that will make more people happy "by default".

[Bug 282179] Re: file-roller crashed with SIGSEGV in strcmp()

2009-01-26 Thread Martin Lindhe
I hit this crash aswell trying to extract a shady zip file.

Using "7z e filename" on the commandline worked to extract the file.
I believe the issue lies in special characters used in the filename.

How come this is a "low importance" bug?
A patch has been availaible for several releases, comparable functionality is

[Bug 338040] Re: Mouse nav buttons do not work in Nautilus

2009-08-03 Thread Martin Lindhe
This dont work correctly at all for me. Well it's not working in
nautilus, but works in Firefox (as it did before)

I installed Karmic on a clean install and use this mouse:

Bus 002 Device 003: ID 046d:c049 Logitech, Inc. G5 Laser Mouse

The trouble i am having is twofold:

1) The mouse click event is only working when Nautilus is in Icon view.
I prefer to use List view :-(

2) The back action is actually triggered by the Forward button (which
correctly goes Forward in Firefox). It should be triggered by the Back
button

With "works in firefox" i mean it works on the same setup with Firefox
3.0 and 3.5

[Bug 276476] Re: INFO: task blocked for more than 120 seconds causes system freeze

2009-01-08 Thread Martin Lindhe
I am also hit by this bug on my work PC (amd64 and fully updated Ubuntu
8.10).

The issue usually shows up every work day. Gnome fully freeze up, even mouse
cursor cant move.
If you leave the computer alone for a couple of minutes it resumes to working
state.
Often the freeze happens in combination with other network or disk-heavy tasks
being run, but I have not figured any way to clearly reproduce it.

I have 2 laptops and 1 home pc that also runs 64-bit ubuntu 8.10 and
none of those computers show this issue. I believe it is some hardware
combination & kernel issue.

[Bug 153253] wrong udp checksums

Public bug reported:

Hi. Im running ubuntu-dev (soon to be 7.10) on x64 architecture.

[Bug 184067] emerald-theme-manager theme import problems

2008-01-18 Thread Martin Lindhe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: emerald

(This is a bit related to #83391)

When running the emerald-theme-manager and do the "Fetch non GPL'd
themes", a svn checkout is made from https://svn.emerald.no/emerald-
themes

Some of the themes of that repository is apparantly broken and the
emerald-theme-manager reports problems.
However the theme previews gets successfully imported to emerald-theme-manager
which leads the user into believing the themes are available for use.
There is no way of knowing if the themes displayed are actually installed or
not.

I would expect the theme install script to bail out upon failure to
extract the theme archives and not add the theme previews then.

[Bug 146418] Re: connect to bluetooth mouse fails

2008-03-26 Thread Martin Lindhe
I think the most intuitive way to "solve" this bug would be to change
the default selection options from the Browse Devices.. menu (from
right-clicking Bluetooth icon)

Change it from the current "Device type: all types" etc into something more
abstractly named like "My devices", "All devices", "Storage" or something.
* My devices: All bonded devices
* All devices: Everything visible (like current default)
* Storage: Show all devices that provide the bluetooth feature necessary for
browsing them for files.

And show Storage as default since it is what you can use the browse
feature for, right?

the clipboard history, the Print Screen button no longer works.
Also the "alt+print screen" combination doesnt work either.

[Bug 238539] [NEW] glipper cuts unicode text incorrectly

2008-06-09 Thread Martin Lindhe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: glipper

In Unbuntu 8.04 with Glipper 1.0 installed, when i click the Glipper icon to
see a overview of my clipboard,
it displays longer strings cut down with a "..." inserted in the middle.

However the text cutting functions used dont seem to understand unicode text,
so sometimes
illegal unicode (utf8 in my case) text is attempted to be displayed in the
dropdown,resulting in wierd symbols etc.

I cant take a screenshot of the bug since glipper seems to steal focus of print
screen key too
(will open a separate bug report on that)

[Bug 229562] [NEW] Command line regression from Gutsy

2008-05-12 Thread Martin Lindhe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: geany

In the version of Geany packaged with Gutsy Gibbon,
i was using the following "editor command" configuration
in Sagasu:

geany '%f' --line %n

With this, i could use Sagasu to search text files
and just click on a line to open Geany and focus
on that line.

Since upgrade to Ubuntu Hardy Heron, this no longer works.
The file opens as before, but the cursor focus
doesn't jump to the correct line. Instead
it stays on the first line.

[Bug 63352] Re: Creative labs X-Fi sound card unsupported

2008-10-17 Thread Martin Lindhe
Actually, there is ongoing work to support the X-Fi [1]. I think it's unfair to
complain on Creative here for the lack of Linux drivers, when they have
actually been available for a year or so [2] (64bit only, in beta). And this
spring they released 32bit drivers as well [3].
Last time I used Creative drivers in Windows they were bloated and crippled,
and the Linux ones appears to have their issues on their own. I for one will
not buy Creative hardware again because of their terrible drivers.
I also think it's unfair of you to complain on Canonical for the lack of packed
drivers, because the drivers Creative released is still in beta and doesn't
always work properly.
And for the love of everything that's holy and some things that are not, don't
come dragging with the "OMG i will reinstall windows this suxx0rs" argument.
Many people are working hard to support your free operating system choice, and
most is not even getting paid for it. Personally I don't care much of what OS
you use, as long as you let me keep my preferences and work in a OSS
environment.

[Bug 153253] wrong udp checksums

2007-10-16 Thread Martin Lindhe
Public bug reported:

Hi. Im running ubuntu-dev (soon to be 7.10) on x64 architecture.

I'm trying to send a UDP packet using PHP (5.2.3-1ubuntu6).

The following script sends one UDP packet. It works correctly (generates
correct checksum) on PHP 5.2.3 under Windows XP (32 bit).
However on my Ubuntu machine, the UDP checksum is calculated wrong so the
packet is discarded.

Generated UDP packet:

   00 00 03 04 00 00 00 11 95 42 42 49 00 00 08 00 .BBI

Checksum is 0xfe22. Correct checksum should be 0x8905 according to

** Affects: geany (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

How come this is a "low importance" bug?
A patch has been availaible for several releases, comparable functionality is

It is simply a feature that users expect to be there, and a must have

I hit this crash aswell trying to extract a shady zip file.

Using "7z e filename" on the commandline worked to extract the file.
I believe the issue lies in special characters used in the filename.

[Bug 200719] [NEW] scim default trigger "shift+space" is retarded

2008-03-10 Thread Martin Lindhe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: scim

In the default installation of Ubuntu 8.04, scim is enabled by default.
And the default configuration has "shift+space" as a setting to trigger
SCIM.

In my opinion this is retarded, as it makes entering capitalized text (by using
the shift key) impossible.
This made me wonder if my keyboard needed a replacement for maybe a week until
i figured out what was to blame.
The problem occured to me several times a day.

[Bug 184067] emerald-theme-manager theme import problems

2008-01-18 Thread Martin Lindhe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: emerald

(This is a bit related to #83391)

When running the emerald-theme-manager and do the "Fetch non GPL'd
themes", a svn checkout is made from https://svn.emerald.no/emerald-
themes

Some of the themes of that repository is apparantly broken and the
emerald-theme-manager reports problems.
However the theme previews gets successfully imported to emerald-theme-manager
which leads the user into believing the themes are available for use.
There is no way of knowing if the themes displayed are actually installed or
not.

I would expect the theme install script to bail out upon failure to
extract the theme archives and not add the theme previews then.

[Bug 418101] [NEW] [needs-packaging] parano

2009-08-24 Thread Martin Lindhe
Public bug reported:

Parano is a GNOME program to create, edit and verify hashfiles. For now
MD5, SHA-1 and SFV formats are supported.

http://parano.berlios.de/

I believe this software needs packaging, since there is no equivalent
(GUI) software packaged with Ubuntu today.

3.0 and 3.5

[Bug 74070] Re: Google Calendar ics support

I think this bug can be closed.

Google calendar is available in Evolution by adding a new Calendar of
type "Google".

LC_TIME="sv_SE.UTF-8"

When done, Evolution and other software will display time & date correctly.

The best solution for this would be for the setup program to
automatically set LC_TIME for the country you select you live in during
setup. At least i suspect that will make more people happy "by default".
