Sorry, report turned out a mess. First sentences of summary, and of
description belong together.

It should read:
On many occasions previously, this package left apt-get hanging. This was on
all updates, upgrades, and remove attempts...

2016-09-04 Thread Martin Ruskov
Public bug reported:

On many occasions previously, this package left apt-get hanging.

I have no ideas why this would occur and was about to try to manually
remove mysql from aptitude and from the hard drive. I need it, but I
also need to be able to update my machine :)

[Bug 507825] Re: Transcriber should depend on libsnack2-alsa, not libsnack2

2011-02-21 Thread Martin Ruskov
I also had the same problem. Apparently libsnack2 uses OSS, which is
supposed to be left behind some time ago.

Cheers

[Bug 643531] [NEW] package winbind 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 137

2010-09-20 Thread Martin Ruskov
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

The process got stuck (waited for about 30 minutes) at trying to stop winbind.
I unmounted the samba partitions and subsequently
manually killed two processes (one of them called winbind.d; both of these are
not present after the reboot, so I assume they were related to the update
process)
Then the update stopped at unpacking the new samba files.
I had to reboot the whole machine because of that.
This was also troublesome, as hot reboot didn't also work (send TERM signal,
but stopped after that)
